Nice morning all! Glad to hear everyone enjoying the weather!

Does anyone know Ghostrider65(real name Kim) lives up around Green Bay area? She comes through and post every once in awhile. She was interested in getting some Wellies from us and the last I heard from her was begining of March here. Hoping all is okay for her. Sent her a PM but don't have her actual email address.

Just went through again and replaced zip tie bands on the chicks, we moved all the bantam light brown leghorns into one group now- we lost our oldest rooster- we think he came off the roost wrong and broke his leg-nothing we could do for him as to fix it. So McNugget the oldest cockeral took over the group.

MLH- how is SG and baby? Any more hatch out?

Candled half the eggs in the bator and removed the only Ameraucana egg- clear after 12 days and the 2 hens aren't laying so DS(6) has nothing in the way of chicks this year
barnie.gif
he asked if he can share DS(10)'s bantams. DD told him she would share her chickens with him too.

Back out to do some more chores- have a great day!

Oh, I think I remember, Doc, do you think I got insulted by your hatching comment ??? Heck no, I admit I have a problem !!!! Well, more then one, that's the first step right? Admitting you have a problem ??
gig.gif

Oh and btw I loved the flippin them off gesture !!!
highfive.gif

Ok, going outside for the day. Put the baby pigs outside last night with the big guy. They are cammping !!! LOL OMG did they love to root up the grass already !!!

Later guys

Game bird starter is good to feed. I feed to my chicks and they are fine on it. Costs the same as chick starter at the co op here. If you want to cut the protein for the chicks then just add a bit of something to cut it down a bit. I havent had problems with it. Good luck with the duckling. Do you think that Metzer farms is selling you bad ducks?
hugs.gif
It seems so easy to raise chicks/ducks and then there is always that proverbial wrench that gets thrown in and something happens and it seems so mystifying. Good Luck. You poor thing. Best wishes.

What a great day! We added the 8 foot extension to the run and it was a lot of work, but we got almost all of it done. Need to shovel seem more dirt tomorrow and think about painting but it looks great.
Tomorrow we might move birds around then.
Feeling a sense of accomplishment
A good days work always feels good. When I went to Menards last fall I discovered barn paint is so much cheaper than regular paint. Woo Hoo!

I havent got too much done because of a back problem, but I am slowly moving around and doing little things. I am getting caught up on my reading. By the time I finish you guys will probably think, what the h8ll is she talking about. So 37 sec ago. LOL

I have decided to keep my hens as I want to keep the bio security thing in place for other people, but any one who has already inquired to me about them I am willing to offer you some hatching eggs for shipping costs. I think Amyable you might want some and Maybe BFForme? Just pm and let me know. The true Ameraucana blue wheatons won't be pure till mid April. but they are easy to sex at 10 weeks the boys look like little eagles and the girls are cream colored. Thanks

Back to reading and I better go lay down and put a heat pack on my back. :) Have a nice day everyone/.

Important questions! Need answers! ASAP!

Where can I get a bunch of pine chips/litter? Does Menards carry that?

Where could I get some netting to put over the run? Menards? Farm and Fleet? What's it even called?

Hubby is going to Menards or Farm and Fleet in Baraboo TODAY. He is working on the coop and trying to get it good enough for big girls (and boy) to move in.

Btw... I have asked these questions before with no response... Hence the attention grabbing tone... :p

For netting over my run, I just use the tree netting for fruit trees. I bet somebody on here has come up with something better than that though.

Ok Bigfam4me,

I'll come to your rescue, but you owe me !!! LOL

Anyway, Fleet Farm has the cheapest pine chips, Get it by the livestock, horse department. They have two kinds. One is 4.89 the other is 5.29 I believe or close to it.
If you buy it by the hamster/gerbil etc, or even at Walmart you will pay tons more.

You can put deer netting over the coop but I have to warn you it tears real easy. It will help deter but keep an eye on it.
I noticed on the package it has a warranty on it. I wish I would have kept my reciept.

If you want good netting you will have to order it from like Culter Pheasant supply and it ain't cheap.

Just in taking a break. Sweating my buns off. Not like that would be a bad thing.
I don't like it when it gets so hot so quick.

Later

ps Tiki that back problem must be catching, I didn't do much physically yesterday but being damp outside on damp ground, I could hardly move last night, well, you know you could hear it in my voice on the phone !! LOL
