Not my best day. Started out great, getting things done before the heat, washing the gleet chicken's bottom, getting things out of the greenhouse.....then the call. Not much sense, frantic internet search, finally getting the right number to call, my best friend in the whole world, an amazingly wonderful woman with a love for God and a heart way too big for just one soul, is ending her journey on earth very soon. Too soon for me to get there in time and probably wouldn't know I was there anyway. I know she is going to be free from the pain she has suffered with for so long but she's leaving behind a huge love shaped hole in my heart.

I went outside later to take care of the chickens and just be busy when I noticed that after the Oxine, ACV and 7 days on Monistat, my gleet vent girl is no better. Even tho she has been eating, drinking, even laying eggs, just fine I could feel how thin she was when I picked her up. She is such a sweet thing and I hate to think of it, especially now, but.......... Well, as long as she stays happy and enjoying her new freedom to just be a normal chicken I will just watch and see but if she starts to show any signs of suffering.............

Hey guys... ok sounds like some of you had a rough day... hope they are having an adult beverage for us up north!

Ran some errands including getting the kids a new kids pool today. Boy was it a good day for that. Chickens got lots of outside time today with us and lots of treats of course... they are fairly spoiled... must be why most are lap chickens. Did some weeding... had my inlaws for dinner.
Weeding repeat tomorrow. Going to try potatoes in big pots and see how they do. Good times

Evening all!!
We made it back from the Bash much to the dogs relief! The Bash was a blast! It was so nice to meet the awesome peeps and their families and finally put names to faces! It was nice also to catch up with the peep I've met before!!
Everyone is sooooo nice and we had so much fun talking chicken and everything else under the sun but mostly chicken!
The White Elephant exchange was a ball and I thought it really interesting that an antique wooden Leinenkugel crate was one of the gifts most traded! We also had an awesome granite slap that had a chicken and the words chicken ranch sand blasted into it! That was traded quite a bit too! We had a raffle too!
I ended up with a very cool little Lobster Trap frame with a ceramic tile painted with a rooster. Carol (WCc) brought it and I love it!! I started out with 2 jars of home made maple syrup courtesy of H&R, the the granite slap but finally ended up with the picture.
The food was great and TO was very happy the people listened to her whinning....oops....I mean recommendations and brought some GF food for those who needed to eat GF foods.
I had so much fun and cannot wait till next years!

Toads and roasted Bob cat are chicken delicacies!!

Vicki-Im so sorry about your BF....My thought and prayers are with you both.

BBP-Hope your dh heals quickly.

EL-Hope the kiddos feel better soon and you can get some much needed rest!

Well, I'm beat so off to bed I go! I'm hoping to get the lawn mowed before it rains the the hostas planted...
Night All!!

The bash was fun. Tired folks here! I'm curious what my sassy friends might have said about me after we left! Really too bad about the folks who couldn't make it. Try really hard next year! I would love to meet you.

Ahem... I came home with 1 duckling, 3 Australorps, 4 icelandics, and 4 guineas. I had one partridge silkie hatch while we were gone, and a white one is pipped. In the brooders before we left: 2 ducklings, and 7 chicks. Now I'm bad at math, but I THINK Chicken math snuck up and bit me on the @ss! I still have 11 silkie eggs in the incubator!

Im Exhausted folks...gotta go to sleep now

Hey all .......The bash was a blast...brought my camera to take pictures of everyone and jabbered so much I forgot to take a bunch of pics........never did a white elephant gift swap b4 it was hilarious, and nice to get a gift, the Granite chicken ranch sign Curtacy of Tom was awsum and I want one..
I wish we could have had a critter sitter so we could have camped for the night...maybe next year it won't coincide with new baby chicks and my sitter won't say OH NO I can't do babies.....and back out at the last minute. I do have a couple pictures to post tomorrow as soon as I get them off the camera.

Sorry to hear about the owey, and sick babies....wish you all a quick recovery............
Also sorry to hear about the ailing friend, at least you know she will be at peace soon............ sorry for your pain though..
Well I been running since 6am even though we are very close to the meeting site, it still made for a long day, I can't imagine how exhausted the long drive ppl must be...... Nite all..kim.

We have finally limped home from the bash...... I think those cherries just help people to take the edge off.

I apologize for missing out on the fun...... stupid work! I wandered in around 4:30 today and missed out on a lot of people. I will be taking off the WHOLE weekend next year..... might possibly camp too.

We brought 7 baby calls (and mamma) to the bash, and came home with three. Thank you everyone for treating them so gently! Just hatched babies and they end up going on a huge field trip!

Wow am I tired. I cannot believe I have been up since 4:30.... AM!

Night all! It was great to meet you!
