Ok, I think thats it lol I lost count at how many times I had to get up and do other things while making this post. I got the kids off to school, DD has a field trip so she's pretty excited, DS only has 4 days left so he's pretty bummed. Littlest DD must be going thru a growth spurt. I give the kid breakfast ( reeses cereal) then she wants scrambled eggs, then a fruit snack lol I dont know where she puts it all. She only 3 and seriously 25 pounds soaking wet. Last night while putting the chickens in I had 4 (1 roo and 3 girls) that took to my red pine. I was tempted to leave them out all night but DH got them down by shaking the tree lol. Let me tell you lol the Andalusians and Lakenvelders can fly pretty far lol. They flew from about 20ish feet high all the way to the coop which was about 50 or so feet from the tree lol. Then when the Blue Andalusain landed he started crowing . My Ancona was up the tree too but she doesnt fly near as far as the others. Oh and the whole time this is occuring our ducks are standing there watching lol. Once the chickens were down and in the coop then the duck went into the coop. Well thats about it here. I need to do the house again, get out and week my Lily garden area, and I still havent transplanted my peppers.

So, there we go, I'm all good!! I've done my civic duty!I

Everyone in fine this morning and I watered the garden. As I was mucking around down by the tomatoes, I noticed this really pretty weed. I was thinking "Wow! That is one large weed!" As I was about to yank it out, I noticed tell tale signs of potting soil. DH must have stuck it there....2 inches from a tomato....I have no Idea what he planted, but it is going to be moved to another spot.
I have a few more veggie plants to put in the garden and some peas. Then I need to stake the tomatoes and set a grid for the beans and peas.

I have a vet appointment for a Doggie Tune Up for Aiden this morning...Heartworm test and nail trim. Actually it's Tune Up week. I think I have a vet appointment everyday this week and two or three next week...Then I'm all done for the year baring any emergencies or illnesses.

Well, I'd best get myself going, the appointment is a 9:15...
Later Gators

Ang ( I think!) Glad to hear the Gizmo came home!!!

Happy Birthday BigFam!! I am thinking one of these days we need a wine drinking get together out by you.

Well got some weeding done yesterday but there is always so much to do. I think DH enjoys blowing his grass from the mower into my flower beds so they are covered in grass all the tim. so much to pull! Veggies actually look like they are growing. Someone had told me to use cardboard for between the rows for a weed barrier ( was it on here??? old age memory going) but 2 days after I did that and planted... we had a huge wind storm so all got blown out... so I was not so sure where rows were, but went out yesterday and along with the green haze of baby grass growing in my way back garden, there are corn rows and green bean rows coming up!! Hooray! No sign of potatoes and onions but they may take longer than 2 weeks to sprout through. Cucumbers and zucchs look a little week but hope they perk back up. My brocolli starts were a little wussy but seem to be growing, lets hope they get stronger and better. I have been debating getting a CSA every other week to supplement because I had high hopes last year and the woodchuck ate almost everything and we were high and dry on veggies but trying to hold out. There is a lot planted there, it just has to make it!!!
Do any of you use a weed barrier between rows? Old hay? Just curious.
Have a great day... off to work I go!

Happy Birthday Heather!
Ang, glad to hear the kitty came home.

I have been busy painting the coop and need to work on it more today. We have a busy few days ahead of us. DH has to take down a section of fence to make my garden bigger, till it up, I need to plant my garden & 4 flats of flowers, paint the coop, move the coop into the yard. Oh, we also want to go away for 3 days. No rest for the wicked, I guess. LOL

Wear your wedding dress in August???? Are you doing a trash the dress shoot too or celebrating your Anniversary????

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I did bring a nice little GF chocolate cake JUST FOR YOU but you LEFT before I got there....

Ang, glad you found your cat! Nice to hear a happy ending.

This morning my 9 yr old DS runs into my bedroom with tears in his eyes telling me he can only find one baby duck and it was outside of the hutch on the ground..... GREAT, just what I need after yesterday..... thankfully is was one BIG false alarm! The rest of the crew were inside under mamma, the little one that went on a trip squeaked our from under the door of the duck house. It is fixed now so I do not have any more emergencies to deal with. I am so happy I can spend the day milling around in the Valley doing nothing and getting my massage.....

Time for coffee.....

G'mornin, No critter in the trap.. I will try some eggs and dog food tonight..

I actually plant 70 pounds of taters to the row, but I already had 20 pounds left over from the original planting.. they should go in either late this afternoon or tomorrow..
then I am going to chance it and plant the sweet corn.. by the time it comes up the frost threat should be over..
I am tempted to transplant the tomatoes, peppers, broccoli and brussels sprouts , too.. I might have to cover them once or twice, but I guess it is worth the gamble.. I have them in the planter/brooder now and I have not been covering them.. they are no worse for wear..

once the transplants are out of the brooder/planter, I can go ahead and plant my carrots, and beets and maybe some green onions in there..

I suppose I should go turn everything loose and feed them.. then I will start setting all these eggs that are waiting..

I have quite a few new babies to transfer out to the brooders, too.. about 20 guineas, and as many chicks.. I am thinking of setting up a separate brooder for the turkeys.. I have a cage over cage rabbit pen that I can use for them..

soon I will have to move 110 chicks from the breeder pen into the guineas pen.. then they will have a nice big yard to go out into and mini free range in... It would be nice to catch the critter, first..

I need about two more of me..

old hay can be used as a weed barrier, but you have to watch out for the weed seeds in it..

I use weed cloth around my tomato plants and THEN put the hay down thick.. I never have to weed the tomatoes after that.. I cut the cloth individually for each plant.. It makes it easier to lay down when planting, and then to pick up in the fall.. the cloth can be used year after year, unless you forget where you put it.. like I did.. I will put Annie on it , she can find anything..

Good morning! Back from the Doc...they did some blood work and gave me some exercises to do for the foot pain. Betting that they wont work...I am going to start taking the multi vitamin again along with additional Bs. My research tells me that I am probably deficient and that can play havoc with joints too...the Doc seemed to think that I might be being less vigilant about my diet than I was in the beginning. NOT!

Had to rescue some ducklings yesterday...saw out the window that there were 3 that couldnt get out of the water pan below the pump...as I got out there the yellow one started going under. Dumped the pan and there was already one drowned. I spent the time I had reserved to pick up my tomatoes blow drying ducks! Two were not so good so I popped them in the brooder with other misc birds and put the other one back out with Mom. By the time I got home from work they were running everywhere so they went back out too. Ducks are so much nicer when you return their babies...not like the geese that try to attack you! I had a call for another baby good for a pet. Nope--the last one went to BL4 at the bash...all the others are in the dinosaur stage.

As promised I have some pics from the bash: THe white elephant exchange was held outside in the shelter this year.

Here is the sign that Tomski brought. It was one of the most sought after gifts. Now this is NOT a true white elephant for sure! It could only be considered one at a gathering of dentists or some other non chickeny profession!

A few of "the guys" kickin' back at the fire pit.

Wicked trumpet vines!

A man of few (NO) words and the computer that is staying home next year! LOL!

Julie and her dog Ruby. You can only get to know her at the bash cause she doesnt "do" BYC! She is Amyable's friend.

OK that is the extent of my pics! I hope someone else had their camera for Friday...I totally forgot to get mine out....have a great day all--I think DD20 and I are heading to McCarthy Park to ride horses! I have her for one week before she starts to work for the summer...Gave a fantastic day everyone!
Terri O

(PS) Sorry I cant reply...it took too much of my brain power to get the pics up! Now I feel like I need a nap!

Oh yeah...I wanted to comment on the weed barrier...I have used newspaper, landscape cloth and carpeting. The carpeting is my favorite thing. When DH rips some out of places he is working on he rolls it up in strips and brings it home. I unroll it between the rows in the garden but first I put drip hose under it. It keeps the weeds out and the garden watered too! Works slick and it's hard to lose in the garden too! Terri O
