Just catching up before chores. I want to get those done early so I can get to the market. I wanted to avoid the 4th of July crowds so I waited. Now, I need to go get provisions..LOL!

I wish I could call in today..... but then I would feel guilty so I will be a responsible adult and suffer at work in this heat like everyone else.

My unwanted company never showed yesterday.... too hot!

I better hurry and finish my breakfast.... forecast says only two more days of searing heat, so everyone hang in there!

Hey Vicky--they used to plunge them into the water tank to lower their temperature and break the brood. ALternatively I have read to give them a plain aspirin to bring down the temp. This is what the old-timers used to do so I dont know if it really works. Alternatively why dont you just get her a few fertile eggs to sit on? (just helpin' with your chicken math!)

Good morning,

the storm took out some of the last remaining big pines on the west side of town, I need to check on a friends vacation home, don't need another mess to deal with right now.

Short night here, power back on about 12.30, shut down the generator and checked everything that was supposed to be running, then listened to fireworks waiting to get to sleep,,,lol,,,no ban here with the fire danger low after the rains. Up at 4 for some needed work in the gh, will try and get a couple hours in the garden b4 it's unbearable

yes Terri I do love ice cream in the summer,,,,,,,,really like to treat myself a couple times and head to the main street ice cream/fudge shops. there are 2 across from each other,,,one or the other always win at the state fair with fudge,,,,get some of that stuff in or on a sundae and then you really have something

the hen with the eye problem seems better, will chase some meds today so at least I have it on hand

the roosters have adjusted to being segregated, only an occasional squak form that pen, don't think they realize their demise is at hand,,,

found some 12 wk old Golden Buff pullets, think I'll get 10-20 to add to the layer flock another hybrid but it's hard to beat the production and the feed conversion

ok,,,,cuppa's are done no excuse to sit here

Hot already. Gotta go outside and snipp some tomato branches? Whatever, clean them up quick. Had to come in and cool off for a bit. I hate to sweat!

Ken, you just keep on keeping on. It's expected youd get wound up with the sh!it keeps coming. I like a Pastor who's human. It's a tough job and only those called to it can do it. A nice long bike ride,a few beers when you get home. And just breathe. It will get better. I think that's a promise inthe good book somewhere...?

And nope... I never worked in marketing. I might have been good in it. I have 2 degrees, and my major was Public Relations. I toy with the idea of getting a graduate degree in education so I can substitute teach. Here our school requires a degree in education even to substitute! But I don't think my temperment would allow being a teacher... Too volatile.

But may be I should be a B&B owner... As long as its in the chicken coop!
