Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi all!
wow. Just a warning. That internet "bomb' that is supposed to go off next monday is spreading like wildfire! My ISP had to suspend me and completely reset entire account to stop "me" from spamming the known universe

but at least I seem to be ok now. I am still going to Fox.com later. They have an app posted that you can run to find out if you are infected or not. The FBI is threatening to shut down anybody that is found to be infected when this thing kicks off. Details about it are on there too.

When it comes to predators, we all have to deal the way our own hearts and priorities dictate. No one is right or wrong. Personally, we did move into their neighborhood, big time, so we try our best to be good neighbors and respect who they are, BUT I am still not going to let them eat my puppy, my chookies or my hubby!

Twizzleb~ cute baby!

Cindlady`sorry I haven't had a chance to start on the bags yet. With this heat and no AC I've had my hands full just keeping everybody from dropping over from the heat and keeping the power on.

I have literally drug Miss broody butt out of the nest, her growling all the way and locked her out of the coop every day this week! Every time I am outside she is right at my heels squacking the whole time trying to get me to open the pop hole so she can get back into the nest and roast. Dumb chicken

She is really lucky I think she is cute and I haven't forgotten where she came from.

Oh well, she popped in as soon as I opened the big coop door to cool it down in there before bedtime and she missed out on the yummy roasted ear of corn leftover from dinner that the other girls devoured

started the garlic harvest this evening, this is a hardstem variety from Canada called Music, first year seriously growing garlic, I plan to keep most of the crop for seed, from some I will attempt making garlic powder. Looking at sustainable Value Added Crops here,,,this was grown from 2.5lbs of seed cloves. Curing is tricky but with some luck this might end up one of my main crops

Dan, she was the lady from Wave.s swap.. 84 yr old biker gal ? I think her hubby is also Dan ?

heading for the shower.. not that I think I need it, but people are looking at me in a funny way..

Nice garlic,, that should keep the werewolves away..

Vicki, I didn't move into anybody's neighborhood.. I have yet to see a 45 year old raccoon , bear, fox, etc etc.. I was here before any of them..

..........jiminwisc..........

Unk, you made me think. I have two massive elephant garlics that are probably ready to harvest. I'm pretty excited about them! I love garlic and could really see having a lot more. They also make great gifts. I would love to have enough garlic to make braids for teachers. I love doing homemade gifts for them because teaching children is so hard!

Who can tell me how to paste the link for southern get together to my signature...?

A lady came and bought chiickens today from me. I offered to Eprinex them (ok, I know eprinex is not a verb) before she took them, just in case. She said she puts Frontline on hers and "it works for 3 months". What? I told her I've never heard of anyone doing that. Then she said she has never wormed her chickens and wanted to know if she should. I told her to bring stool samples to the vet.

Good evening! WHat a day! I got the fair entries in and that was the most important I guess. THey said use the internet book to make your entries...so I did. THose numbers are different that the ones posted in the book. THey ran the tags on the ones posted in the book so of course NONE of my tags matched what I had canned and entered. By the time I got to the fairgrounds to check stuff in the office was already closed so I couldnt let them know. I sue hope that superintendent informs the judge! I am going to the judging too so they better watch out!

Picked up a new client...her birthday is tomorrow 105 years old!!! I wonder how long I will have her as a client? (sheesh--that was bad) Anyhow, I am sitting with her on Monday. DOnt have to do a think. THe daughter says "bring your cross stitch or a book!" I may read to her...I guess she likes that.
While I was talking to the daughter my boss from the cooking job called me and said that a few residents said they could smell gas coming out of the kitchen! I went back there and the pilot light from the grill had gone out. We had to finagle a match onto a shisk handle to get it long enough to reach the pilot light! At least I figured it out and the kitchen didnt blow up!

Dan that is SOME garlic! I love it...mine is still doing the scape thing...they are getting bigger. Bigfam I love those garlic Ristras too! I bought one when we were in New Mexico a long time ago. I have never had too much luck with garlic but I have made the Ristras with onions...

I hate to destroy the raccoons too...but I figure if they are eating my stuff then they have to go. I dont even mind if they take one or two (or some of my garden) but when they kill a bunch and just let them lay there...that is the straw that broke this camel's back for sure!

My eyes are getting "pinchy" and there was so much more I wanted to reply to...sleep calls! Talk in the morning! Sweet dreams! Terri O

So we have a degree in BS and PR..... ok that explains a lot....

Happy to be home today from work! Those poor guys were all working with chiller vests on and sweating like no tomorrow. Plastic PPE just sucks right now.... Came home and ran to a friends house to test out the new pool! Mmmmmmmm it was nice and 'warm' 85*..... too bad I have work again tomorrow....

TO, my DH would like to know if Tommy is still living in the house with you.

Those of you who wanted calls PLEASE send me a PM! I will meet you wherever to swap them.

Off to bed..... wore myself out!

Hi All!

Tom... That was a nice guy!

vicki.... There were 4 suggestions about the broody....1) cool bath but in this heat you would have to be careful not to shock her. 2) A wire bottom cage with lots of air flow to cool her bottom. 3) a little baby aspirin. 4) give her some eggs to hatch!..... Thanks for the reminder on the Internet thing.

Twiz... no more hatched? Hope you get a friend for it.

BBP... Hope Angle is OK!

TO... 105! WOW

OK, now I'm not feeling well at all.... D@mn HEAT! I'm cool now but it's adding up!
Natas is back!

maybe she knew I was not doing well. She's kept me alive before! Didn't do my town stuff yet... I HAVE to fri.! I'll see if young son will come along. Oldest son has been "spotting me" when I go out.... he could dial 911 faster than I could if I get in trouble.

Night ALL!

Ok...I am up for the day now at 5 in the morning...it's ok though... I went to bed at 9 after feeling sick from outdoor chores last night after a day in the ac at work. Seriously...an hour in the later heat watering and feeding chickens and watering my garden...thats all I did and I felt horrible. Hoping everyone is ok. Thinking about a rain dance later to bring it on.

After one chicken with heat exhaustion last week, no major problems this week. Try pant a lot, and I am spraying them a lot and putting frozen fruits and veggies in there, but that is it.

Stay cool today everyone!

Good Morning!

Well, made it through another hot one.... The mercury should start to lower day by day now...

Wasn't too bad setting up the grave stones yesterday... We got most of them done before 10 am. The last few were done with a lot of sweat though! LOL It was still better than cutting, carving and polishing them in a hot shop!

Nice Garlic Dan! I've been growing Garlic for the last 5 or 6 years... In order to dry it out for grinding:
After the Garlic has seasoned, I peel and slice the bulb about 1/8 inch thin.
Layer them on the dehydrator for 3-4 hours
Set them out on a screen with a fan blowing on them for a day or so
Grind them up with an old coffee grinder I have.
It takes a lot of Garlic to make a couple of ounces of powder but it's soooo worth it.

BF4M - You can't braid the Hard Neck/Stem variety like Dan has - the stem just cracks and splits but you can braid other varieties.

Off to work in a few...

Stay cool!
