Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I just listed geese, chickens on craig's list Wausau.. I did each breed individually.. so there are five posts on there..

Young birds I listed : gray geese, buff geese, Asian pullets , (black legs & feathers, Barred Rock pullets, Delaware pullets, Sebastopol geese (white)......

I feed near 200 assorted birds.. = 50 pounds of feed per day.. Now that the puppies are not helping the birds eat their feed, the amount might go down,,some...

Jim, did you list them in the Buyer's Guide? I got the Central Wis Shopper in our mail yesterday and didn't see it in that one.

Good luck on Craigslist! There's been a lot of poultry listed there in the last week or so. Have you thought about taking them to the Green Gables Auction in Stratford, the one they have at Equity, if they don't sell?

good afternoon...just procrastinating a bit after lunch...gotta go out and finish the fence. All the hard parts are done...I just have to get the electricity to it now....and find all the shorts....

HAPPY DAY TO YOU JIM! Sorry I missed the actual day...wouldnt happen IF you announced it though! Tiki I just love how that woman's red hair bounces up when she jumps out of that cake! I never know where to find that stuff to add...

Hey JustJohn (JJ from now on!) I have some Bobwhites that are in a rabbit pen that is 3 1/2'x2 1/2' and then seem just fine. There have to be 20 of them in there too! They are not quite mature yet so I think 2 in the space you have described will be just fine! Especially if they have some "natural" type cover to hide in. I am continually amazed at how much more frantic they are than the Cots...I can reach in and pick the Cots up with no problem and those Bobs just get hysterical when I reach in for the food and water dishes! I guess that is why I am thinking about making a larger space for them.

DrH I hope your haste doesnt come back and bite you in the hinder! Sometimes when there are new birds they arent used to "your" bugs and your flock isnt used to theirs either. THen they all get sick! Got my fingers crossed for ya buddy!

My client was pretty talkative this morning! Amazing for him. He likes to glare at me and make my try and read his mind I swear! He had his brother and law (BIL---LOL!) and his friend come and visit today. THey were very nice. Came up from Elkhorn all the way to Jefferson to basically talk to each other...

OK I am feeling recharged enough to go out and look at that fence again...sigh; I sure hope the county doesnt send me another ticket! If they do I am going to court for sure...then I will tell them to fine the DNR for "their" deer running through and breaking my fences!

Later! TerriOtiredofdeer

still waiting for the call for the tractor part..

CassieD, I have the birds listed in the "free ads" section of that paper.. anything under $50.oo you can list for free..

I have not taken anything to the auction.. It usually does not fit into my schedule.. and I think it is too iffey for prices..

we will just butcher what we can't sell.. and keep the more rare ones until spring..

Don't worry DrH,, I seldom QT any birds either.. I had one bad episode one time, but I did not lose my WHOLE FLOCK !! I mainly stay away from livestock dealers.. usually the people with small flocks don't have those exotic diseases..

congrats on the baby horse..

OMG Shes gorgous! When did she arrive??? A paint!

UNK: LOL@ 200. IS .25 # per bird per day pretty standard? Is that in the summer with some free rrange or winter feeding? (since I doubled mine trying to figure out winter feeding amounts)

from what I have read and found out, yes .25# per day per bird year around is right,,,mine exercise off any extra in the summer. I'm free ranging 50 birds right now and using 400# per month,,,,birds of all age groups 4 months to just over a year, good eggs and the birds all looking good right now,,,,I might rest some of the older layers in a few weeks, right now I have a light coming on at 4am to keep up the production. No light yet in with the pullets that will change soon.

It's so odd that the picture in there is photoshopped. You can tell by the lighting!

My new filly is such a cutie! I have a halter on her, although she is impossible to catch. We got 2 mini donkeys as companions for her, they are super sweet and the nieces lead them around no problem(with supervision, of course)

Good AM,  thanks for the birthday wishes..  I didn't tell anyone .. I went to play cards and they had a cake for me..  of course nobody just let me win.. their generosity ended at the cake, I guess..

My shaft should be ready today if Bill could "work it in"..

All the guinea keets made it through the night OK..  we officially have NO birds in the house..

I got zero calls for the birds I listed in the shopper..  I guess craig's list will be my next option..

No word about Adam's driving test ??
