Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good evening!
I got the fence DONE!!!! I let the horses out and they were running around like crazy. I was glad that one of them got zapped on the cornfield side...maybe they will stay out of the corn!

DS23made some delicious Guacamole from the free avocados I scored at the grocery store today. YUM! the produce girl was cleaning out some stuff and I asked her what she was going to do with it...I got about 12 avocados that are just perfect for guac and a bunch to tomatoes. I am making salsa tomorrow since DD26 also brought home 2 and a half CSA shares that werent picked up at her work! Veggie bonanza over here for sure.
Did tacos for dinner (even before I knew about the bonanza) and having that guacamole sure made them taste great!

I have been watching TV during the typing of this post and now I am so tired! I think I am going off to bed...I might just sleep in a bit tomorrow...this fencing stuff is tiring!

My shaft should be ready today if Bill could "work it in"..
You do realize Bigears will be all over that one, right?

DrH, shame on you.

I hope everyone will be fine in your flock. Glad to hear they are all behaving. Wish mine would for once. Got a few real Bs that go out of their way to let the younger ones know where they are in the pecking order, especially at roost time.

Tiki, thanks for the update on FT. We worry, ya know. Thanks for the crow tip.

We do have a lot of them around here and have seen them chasing the red tailed hawks a few times. Don't know how helpful they would be after dark, though. I'd really like to know what that thing was. Cool action shot of your silkie. Talk about busted!

Kris, I am so glad my DH is not picky. He eats whatever I decide to make if he has no preferance.

Gotta love that man! Of course having a sign in the kitchen saying:"Tonight's dinner choices: Take it or leave it!" might help a little too.

I too am looking forward to the slightly cooler temps to make some soups. We just love soup! My latest fav is chicken vegetable with wild rice. Yum!!!!!

BBP, congrats on the pretty little filly!

No chickie door drama tonight. It was too warm out so I left the big door open again all day, so most of the flock came in that way before lockup time. My youngest chickens from Bigfam use the new door whether the big door is open or not. They are such good girls. And my lav & black orps are pretty good at figuring it out. Moose & his wimmin, however, will sit in front of the big door all morning until I go by their little door & call Moose's name. Then they all come filing out like "what?"

Tomorrow will be a different story. The big door will stay shut. Any bets?
Sweet dreams, all!

Congrats to Adam.. I had no doubts he would make it..

No word on the shaft today.. maybe tomorrow ? I told Bill that I needed it by this weekend..

I am 90% sure that the bent shaft was the clutch problem.. always leave room for a little doubt..

DD#2 is going to take me out for Chinese for my birthday treat.. she knows I love curry food..
Annie is making lasagna and a carrot cake for Friday night supper..

It is so quiet here tonight, I actually called Dora into the house for company..

Well, too late and too tired to go though all the post again so Congrats to Adam. Sounds like the new hens will do OK. Glad the fence is fixed and I don't remember much more. Sorry.
I spent a good part of my computer time looking for herbs for my green goop. Found a place that had them all at a decent price. It kills me because out of the 8 things I needed I could have "wild crafted" 6 of them if only I could get around better. I'm going to have get a "chicken proof" garden made for some of these "weeds".

Oh Cind...we forgot your birthday!!! Hope it was a good day...and good luck chicken proofing the garden...ya never kno how tricky they can be!

Morning all,
Well I finally had time to get caught up..sorry I missed your B-Day too Cind............

Well Jim I sure hope that shaft is done by Friday or early Sat. Because the following weekend won't work at all, I have to keep the Tattoo shop open for a friend, and book appointments the next 10 days after this weekend, Just helping ppl design a tat or answer phone, plus my Neighbors will be gone on a Antelope hunt out west so I will have to take care of All her critters twice a day as well...... Puppies are doing great they already know the word Kennel, and no LOL, they are still afraid of the cats and horses, but getting better, they will not yet sniff them , but at least they don't run away yelping from the dog eating horses anymore....hehehe
Not sure what is up with Bear this morning though!! he did not eat his breakfast, Max ate all of it 2 bowls full, piggy piggy. Maybe its the new canned food, all Fleet had is there brand which I hate and pedigree, which I ain't crazy about either, seems neither is Bear, and I did do half and half the last 2 days, just to switch them over, so maybe its the weather, maybe its the food, maybe it's just he wasn't hungry, ...........they get less exercise now, that they can't be running loose until they get to know the boundaries of our place, soooo who knows.

Adam said TY to all the congrats........ he is happy, Though I am not so much, don't really wanna loose my hubby 4 or 5 days a week...... Plus all that driving scares me to death...2500 to 3500 miles a week on average....for his safety. But it will be a good job with a pay check and benefits, so I guess I have to just suck it up......................:hit

Anyway gonna go let out pups again, and feed chickens if the rain quit......later all Kim

Went out yesterday morning to check on the chickens and give them water when all of a sudden out of no where Ricky, our rooster, attacked me. I gave him a good kick, and he came at me again. Scratched me up pretty good. So that's it- my dad is coming this morning to take him away. I am sick of him attacking me- he looks like a ninja, and the kids hate him. I wanted to get rid of him weeks ago, but my hubby was resistant. Well enough is enough. I hope my parents find him very tasty.

good morning folks, another damp cool day in the north,,,had some sprinkles overnight, need a good soaker

truck is dead in the driveway,,,,well not dead (I hope) but defiantly NOT starting this morning,,,me thinks moisture is the problem,,,well that and a worn out old freaking truck
Its too bad your clutch bent your shaft! Must have been quite painful. Softer grip next time birthday boy....
