Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Tyler told me via FB that they send heat packs with the smaller orders (under 15).

I was finally able to track down a cleaner shrimp for the SW tank today (the Choc chip starfish ate the last one)! He is so SMALL! The old one was around 3 inches, this one is about 1 1/2. I have put the starfish down into the reserve tank so he will not be able to eat the crabs or the shrimp any longer. ( I tell the students he is in jail....). I also had to pick up around 20 goldfish for the respiration lab the students have at the end of this week and beginning of next. Since I was at the pet shop (and they have a 20% off sale) I bought for my home tank a little school of Neon Tetras, another school of Black Phantom Tetras, a Cory catfish of some sort, a Pleco (a nice SMALL one), and a group of Guppies. It is really nice to have something other than goldfish in the tank. I still have to remove the goldies from the pond, but I think I am going to rig something up at the school so I can keep the bigger fish there and keep the smaller ones here.

I walked this morning since I have rubbed the skin off the backs of my heels (the socks I wore on Monday were too short). Tomorrow I need to do more than just walk..... I feel like I have done so much today and yet accomplished so little...... oh well.

Time for some vino!

evening all

cold, windy and raining here now started about 5:15 pm or so just as we were walking out of DD's volleyball game. Finally getting a chance to sit down today- started out the day running.... the 22 broilers we raised were scheduled to be dropped off for processing today, well 1 decided to pretty much die at my feet this am and of course I was the only one here- which left me scrambling to get the bird processed before having to go clean a unit. Talk about fun- it's been awhile. Now I just have to clean the pen out and DH will have a good area of space back.

So tomorrow we will pick up the broliers all done and ready to be frozen.

Time to get the kids ready for bed so have a good one

Evening All...been busy here. Good to read everyone is doing great.

Talked with the Waupaca Co animal biologist Monday morning for a long while. Keeping the flock locked up is the recommendation in regards to the Bobcat problem. He also says the well known confirmed wolf pack is only a couple miles from here, and the lone wolf is looking to start a new one prolly in my area. Just sayin. Yep, I have plenty of predators here.

The gardens are still giving up broccoli, carrots, and beets...the end is near for the gardens. Not one bit of clean up started in the gardens yet....

What a race finish at Taladaga...I think one driver needs a new profession...just my opinion.

Been hunting hard...going into overtime mode now....sometimes it just takes more effort, to get er done.

Suzie is watching dancing with the stars....God I hate that show....I know I shouldn't hate but...that show does nothing for me, talk about replays...once is enough for me. The only dancing I do is thanking the creator for a successful hunt.

Time for a stiff drink followed by a tylenol pm!

Funny first thing I did tonight was go de-stress in the coop! And I swear my roo waves when we pull up!!! LOL He crows and does the territorial wing flap but I prefer to think he is welcoming us home.
Heres my Lav Orp Cockeral "Peekachu" and he's still growing!

and a couple of my "babies" i had to share:
Willow
Zoey

Thank you , I looked at their website just now and contacted them to see if they allow pick up  They seem really pricey compared to the other sites.  Has anyone purchased from them?  Does anyone have seramas,  They are tiny,  I wonder if they would be accepted by wyandottes

thanks

David

Even if they are pricier on chicks, you could cut out shipping. It was $45 to ship live chicks from Meyer or MPC. That number is ridiculous, but there's no way around it. I got chicks from Meyer in late Feb/early march.

Awwwww, Cind, I am so sad to hear about your bitty kitty.

That just stinks. Like DrH, I'm a root-for-the-underdog person too.

David, loved your kitty story. Thank you for sharing that.

Kristi, yes, he is Seabright. He has a rose comb, is super tiny and is as sweet as can be. Thinks he can take take on all the big boys too.

Doc, if you ever need some eggs for hatching out girls that will go broody, let me know. Moose's kids hatched in January, started laying 13 weeks later & 4 of the 7 went broody in Aug. & Sept.

There was more but I can barely keep my eyes open. Sweet dreams, all!

Hi all!

David... that is a cute kitty story. I had a male dog that would "baby sit" a litter of kittens when mom was out hunting. He would even bring them "goodies".

CC... love your new roo... very pretty!

judge.... Glad the sneaky little bugger is doing well. He should be a good roo... daddy is. Let me know if he gets a name.

TO.... didn't work in the hot tub room the whole time, still had other things to get done too. Young son did get some of it done too. He yelled at ME because there was chicken poo and feathers in the tub. Told him it would have been fine if he wouldn't have lifted the cover before it was cleaned off!

He's my kid... gotta love him!

Bl4....Sounds like you got quite a tank full now! how big is it? You do realize those guppies will probably wind up "feeder fish"

on the news at work! Pretty birds!

It rained a little bit here.... not enough!
The hen with prolapse died... didn't think she would make it.... looked like others had been pecking it.
Didn't get much done today, headache all day.
Well, have to finish dishes and make the mash for the girls.
Night All!

Just a last thought before bed..... I have porcupine chickens! LOL The molt is over and the feathers are at that weird "spiky" stage. I have one little gray hen that looks like a little hedge hog.

Angiebulb, I am glad you are safe fingers crossed with your dh. We went through that 2 years ago, Finally now are all fully employed.

Morning!

Cind, the tank here at the house is 20 gallons. I have had guppies before, the adults are big enough not to get eaten, but I am aware their babies are not as safe.

The kids are thrilled to have some different fish in the house. The SW tank at work is appx. 47-49 gallons, and the reserve is a 20 gallon with around 15 gallons of SW in it. We should really have a 100 gallon SW tank (bigger is better), we could put more in it. You cannot put as many fish in a SW tank like you can a FW tank.

Enough with the fish talk. I thought this was a chicken board!
