Thank you for the hugs TO! Took a deep breath, went out and watched my chookies play in their dusting hole for a while and I'm better now.

Without a huge, whiny pity party, let me just say that with no hope now of repeal of Obamacare, I could be in deep chickie poo with my healthcare (aka leukemia treatment) along with a lot of other folks that sadly don't know it because they haven't read the entire plan (kind of wish now I hadn't either). Ok, enough of the "Debbie Downer".

TO~please let us know what you find in your necropsy! I am soooo sorry you lost so many, especially your show stock!!! That really has to be a hard one to swallow.

GR~so glad your little girl is doing better! You are wise yourself to seek the wisdom of all the wonderful "chickie whisperers" on BYC. (Someday I aspire to be like them

Snow is beginning to melt, now it's just foggy and damp, yuch. Oh well, at least it's warm enough that the girls are out making a huge mess in the garden and enjoying every minute of it

Oh wait! I have to clean that mess up before the ground tries to freeze again! Hey girls!!!!

Godde evening...I did a post mortem on two birds. The adult one did not have anything in it's windpipe. The one that died this afternoon did. It was filled with blood and it came out in a "tube" like a worm kinda. I did see this when I cut open the adult but I thought it was from the Aorta. SO I am a bit confused...(as usual) I am wondering if I just missed it coming out of the windpipe of the adult. I cut it open lengthwise like the picture and it was totally clear? The little one was too narrow to cut longwise so I just squeezed out what was in there...
Sorry if this sounds gross...this whole thing is gross...I just hope it is kinda done! I am glad the whole coop is plasticized and separate from my other birds....right now I am leaning towards knocking them all off and being done with it!

My friend is going through some rough stuff and I am a bit tired of talking to her about it. She keeps telling me that she's not angry; but she sure sounds angry to me! I am not sure what to say to her...worse thing is that her anger has disconnected her with a mutual friend and we are still OK. I so feel like the "middle woman" and really dont care to be. (thanks for listening) It makes me tired!

Evening everyone.......
Well my hurt chicky had her bath, she was pretty good, freaked alittle at first thought I was trying to drown her I guess..........LOL after a stuck her head under my arm she quieted right down, I washed her the best I could without totally wetting her entire body, mostly the back side was yucked up anyway, she is in such a porcupine stage of her molt washing all that stuck on crap was not easy. I got most of it but she could use a bit more maybe in a week or so when she is feeling better. I did noticed an owey well maybe an owey, she has a quarter size spot over the right hip point that is matted and yucky looking can't tell if its blood, or pine sap, all her feathers are matted tight to her skin so guessing its pine sap, all I can figure is that a 5 lbs chicken suck next to a pine log would explain it. She was under there since Oct. 25th so almost 3 weeks........ poor little girl, I think she came out yesterday because she finally lost enough weight to wiggle free, she must have been really stuck, cuz my 5 lb hen is now hardly more than a lb or 2......... skin and bone and quills........ she managed to get out of her sling again, but she can't stand or get around much and she has a hard time eating or drinking when down on her side so after about and hour of being down I put her back in her sling got her some fresh water and some food, and covered the pen for the night..so she rests will see how shes doing tomorrow. She can stand on it with assistance and stood relaxed the whole blow drying session after her bath..so I'm hoping it comes back with time, It will probably never be what it was, but I think she will be able to use it some eventually......... Praying so anyway.
Nothing else new today crappy weather.......... cool dark and damp from teh rain yesterday...........

Jim how is this weekend looking for butchering? If nothing else we will come up Saturday if your gonna be home, and just visit and pick up Davids chicks.......... so at least I get 1 thing accomplished b4 Adam is off for god only knows how long.......... at least 3 weeks from what we can figure out of there orientation and training letter..... Glad ya got the pup, I figured that is what the airport was about and I couldn't tell Terri you never told me........hehehe

Update 9 pm..... she was wiggling around trying to get out the sling again so I went to set by her, and she was putting weight on that leg, so I decided to leasve her out of the sling for the night, she gimped her waay around teh kennel, half crouched but she was usuing that leg...... YIPPEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she may make it yet......... Night all............Kim

I had a very good morning even though I was really tired. Could not go to bed until it was all over.

Looking for some advice(again)
Is it ok if the chickens have been roosting outside the coop? Even in the rain? The goats sleep under the coop, so for the last 2 months I have kept the little door at the top of the ramp closed otherwise the goats would climb up there and eat all the feed. I had been keeping the back doors open for the chickens instead. They had to fly up about 3ft and the goats couldn't get in. Well my dad and I built a little enclosure on the ramp so the goats couldn't get up but the chickens could in and out. I figured with the cold weather I should really be keeping the back doors closed. They come out in the morning. but about 6 or so of them have not figured out how to get back in so they roost on the outside of the coop. It has been raining the last few nights so I have going out there and throwing the back in... I'm getting tired of it and was thinking of just letting them figure it out on their own, but I didn't know if it was too cold to just let them be.

GR... Glad to hear your chicky is on the mend. There never is a dull moment when it comes to chickens hey.

BF4m.... A therapy dog sounds like a wonderful idea. Poodles are wonderful dogs. They are very intellegent, loving, loyal, you name it kind of dog. If a standard is to big maybe a miniature or smaller standard would work out. I agree, they look better without the poo poo cut. I had toy poodles who didn't have their tails docked and they were adorable. But let me tell you once you've been owned by a poodle you will learn to love them no matter what style of hair you decide on. Just think of all the possibilities .... everytime you go to the groomer she can get a different look.... you can finally have a daughter !!!! Paint her nails too !!! LOL
And no I never painted my girs nails. Shoot, now I want another poodle !!! lol

Vick... I hear ya with this gloomy weather. I suppose I should read up on the Obamacare. Sometimes what you don't know won't hurt you.... at least not right away anyway.
I'm glad all of the nasty comercials are going to finally be over. Now if they can all just play nicely and get on with business... I told ET after we watched the news tonight that they shoud all (Reps&Dems) be ashamed for they way they act towards each other. For Gods sake "what you do affects other peopes lives" and all of their foolishness and games they play against each other has gotten this country into a big fricken mess !!!
They say they want to work together..... Now we shall see. I think they all know that their actions or lack thereof got us into this mess and only working together is going to get us out.. Ok off my soapbox... for now anyway !! lol

Ok, now down to business at my place. My litte angel kitten is doing great. She is barely sneezing and her nose and eyes have stopped running. Only been on meds for a day and a half !!!! She must have been sick for a while though because when I saw her on Sunday the one whole side of her face was caked with dried snot that I had to scrap off. Her little skinny body has already plumped up to a round litte belly. I'm sure she must have worms. I'll have to bring in a sample or just deworm her.

Ok, I just posted this cause my puter froze for a second so I woudn't loose my entire post. Then I started typing and got another paragraph typed about Cody and it froze again and lost it al. So here we go again....

Anyway, long story short, I talked to Sheriffs office and the court date is coming up and they can start planning on adopting out the horse again. not sure how that all works but if I want the horse I have to give them my complete name etc so they can check my record to make sure I don't have any animal neglect, abuse charges etc. No problem there but then they will give the info to the DA which in turn talks to the Defense Attorney.
Even if they don't give the previous owner my name it will become available in open records.
I told him I am afraid of possible retaliation from these two wacko sisters. I live out in the boonies and who knows what they might do. I know that may sound crazy to think like that but the officer totally understands. He said in the 22 yrs he's been on the dept he has seen what happens. He said when it comes to animals people are very sensitive. He is going to talk to the DA tomorrow and then get back to me. He doesn't think it can be kept out of the record, I don't either personaly.
Anyway, now I have to decide if I want to take that chance or not. I'm not afraid of these woman personally, could care less, it's my animals and property that I"m worried about.
Wish I could ask my sister to adopt it in her name but she can be a stick in the mud at times. Let's just say she doesn't think at all like me. LOL
Anyone several miles away want to adopt a horse ??? On paper only ??? I"d pick it up for you and deliver it to .... well my place !!!
Ok I had better send this before I lose it. Plus this adorable little bundle of love keeps jumping on my keyboard and has brought up screens I've never seen before !!!

Good Morning All! TO hope the worst is over read your post but now don't remember if you found the culpret? Not enough java yet. Sucks to be stuck in the middle sounds like you have to choose sides or just explain to her that you don't want to loose either friend and hope she understands. Ft glad your kitten is getting better sounds like worms to me too. Think if they didn't bother to feed and care for that horse don't think the sisters will bother you. GR glad to hear your hen is using her leg a little! Put a one stick too many in the stove last night WOW it's warm in here! Taz was throwing a fit when I got up went and looked, there's a mouse in the sticky trap I bought yesterday. I swear they can smell death in a snap trap once used. OK now for my big news.

Looks like Butch will have a Sundance. 2 male kittens will be coming here from Cindy's. I would like to thank you guys who implanted that in my subconscience and made me dream about it. To borrow the words of Cartman. " I hate you guys so very very much"

Got a call from the VA yesterday while just finishing up chores at Donny's. They could squeeze me in for the hearing test if I could get there in half an hour. Sadly I now have no excuse for not hearing what Laura says. The gal said my hearing was amazing. And not even amazing for my age. I told L that see it's not me that can't hear it's her that can't talk. Iswearshemumblesandrunsallherwordstogether. Only 2 eggs yesterday.

You do your darnedest to get them to do so you give them good treats and stop kicking them and they just don't lay like you expect them to.

Had my second swimming lesson last night. I am really enjoying having the one-on-one interaction with the instructor. It is nice to have someone tell you what you are doing wrong right away so you can correct it. I have NO endurance at all..... I am completely wiped out after spending an hour swimming.
