Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

No luck on the hay front. Guess I'll have to cut corners someplace. Even if I don't eat myself it wouldn't pay for horse hay....something is not right here !!!!!!
Need I say I am in severe depression here today. And when I needed to talk I'd call my Auntie.......

I hear the neighbors siting in their rifles. I'm sure ET will be going down there soon.

Let's see, cell phone bill $100 month, internet $40 month. That's 28 bales.... I give up..... Might be time to give up the farm and move back to the city......

I'll be back later... I'm going to sit on the pitty pot for a while !!! LOL

PS Next trip down to Racine I'm dropping off all of my roosters at Doc's place. Oh and 2 cats and a beautiful little kitten.

Bf.... I think you shoud take the pot belly pigs. Your neighbors will really love ya then !!!!! Not my pigs the ones that Heather is trying to place for a friend. I love love love my pigs. I think I can have them in the city when I move back.

afternoon all,

just got done cleaning the coop. the girls hardly go outside, they prefer the inside of the coop. they were pretty calm when I was in there grabbing to poo trays and changing water and food. After I left they all went outside. I am noticing they eat so little. It is about the same in a week, that the ladies ( the regular hens) ate in a day.

hope you stay dry, I need to hang plastic on the other side of the coop today or tomorrow.

David

Nice CL!!! What a sweet deal!!!!! That makes me happy just hearing about it!

Aw Terri Huge Hugs. What a bum deal. Wish I had a magic thing to tell you that would make it all better.

I'm getting insulation put in the coop today! What a truly glorious day to be working outside.

This is my lunch break.

Now let's catch up on reading here...

Is it mild elsewhere in the state today? I'm near Madison and working outside in a t-shirt!

Nice thought O... What part of the coop are you plastic-ing? I have a run on my deluxe model chicken tractor and am contemplating putting heavy plastic all around the run for winter... I'm not decided about that yet. Is that a chow in your pic? Love chows! purple tongue and everything?

And those 200 gallons of fish? Saltwater or... tapwater?

Laters chickie people!

Two hundred gallons of fish ?? or a Two hundred gallon tank or total gallons water in multiple tanks ? lol

They have a beautiful freshwater tank at in the waiting area at the Aspirus Hospital Cardiac Unit. Huge fish. Good thing they have a service taking care of it weekly. They have more fish (inches) then I'm sure is healthy but it is so well cared for that they are doing good.
Also have two white big frogs in it. I wouldn't sleep well with frogs in the house !!! LOL I'm have to make sure they woudn't hop out !!! lol

Makes me want to get my tanks up and going again but doesn't look like that will happen soon.

What kind of fish you got David? Inquiring minds want to know.

FT ya I know how it is woulda, coulda, can't. You can drop off your overages but I know dang well you'll just see the new room you'll have and put something in their place. Halo will find her voice think maybe with the deficiencies she's had that it hasn't been able to develope yet. Really looking forward to bleeding from kitten/s claws, have really missed that.

Please don't eat yourself! Think you have my number if you need a shoulder if not let me know I'm here 24/7 for ya.

I put up plastic on the covered coop, that way the girls can go outside in the winter without getting snow all over and frozen toes. yes that is one of my chows. Purple tongue and everything.
Here is a picture of my fish. They are frontosa about 10 inches. That is why I have the 200 gallons plus. I also have 2 vintage stainless steel tanks filled with tropical fish. All freshwater

MXM, if you wanted to do SW bigger is better! That 200+ tank would be ideal for a SW tank. Cost a pretty chunk of $ to do it too.

Doc, speaking from experience with the fleas.... the way we FINALLY got rid of them was by using three different meds. Not ONE of the natural remedies did a thing (I tried all of those first). We used Frontline once a month along with a pill called Program (it will render the eggs infertile), and then to kill off any stragglers immediately we would give them all a dose of Capstar (this kills any fleas on the animal in 1/2 an hour). Vacuum your floors once a day until you do not see any more fleas. You can pick up these meds at the pet shops, vet office or thought any of the online sources.

So I will share with all of you my eventful drive home tonight. Good thing my reflexes are still good....

So...... on my way home from my in-laws tonight DD#2, I thought I would take the scenic route home. Drove on some of the back highways, wended my way to Scandy, made it through and continued on my way. Just as we were about to go across the new bridge this HUGE buck charges up the embankment and decides running across the fresh blacktop would be a GREAT idea! No I did not hit him, but it sure looked like it to the oncoming truck! Stupid deer lost his footing and performed an amazing series of somersaults that any gymnast would be envious of. The driver of the truck pulled over and was kind enough to see if we were ok and if I had clobbered the gymnast... thank you we are fine and we headed on our way..... and promptly had a second deer run out in front of us about 2 miles up the road. Thank you Volkswagon for building a vehicle with such amazing braking capabilities. :) I think I have 2 flat spots on my tires now....

Time for a glass of wine to soothe my nerves......

Hey all we are home
Got here about 830, but had to settle the girls play with the pups, let out Leo, find time to make coffee, and here I am............LOL just wanted to post quick b4 I catch up to let Jim know we made it through the thick fog it stayed with us until Tigerton......... ggggrrrrrr any BBS.....Kim

Ok caught up............ anyway Had a good cloudy day for butchering but my poor boys have all gone to heaven but 2 , my Hansom and Gray Beard who almost bit it but I changed my mind at the last minute and he got a reprieve till spring he better shape up........... So now that I am minus 13 roosters maybe my feed bill will come down a tad......... It was nice to see Jim and Annie again, meet that little fluffy pup who I said looked like a scruffy.......... and see all the pretty birds. Enjoy some wonderful pancakes for breakfasts, and had Ham and smashed taters and gravy, yams, corn, cranberries, and buns...and a huge piece of Pumpkin pie........Yummy aw sum as always...... still feel like the stuffed thanksgiving Turkey though.
Picked up Davids 3 girls, and they are now in my chick hut in my garage picking at saw dust ....silly girls.....they have food and water and grit and Oscal..... but prefer sawdust??? .
Beautiful Fish David, I really do miss my big tanks, but since I bought this house in 99 I don't have an extra room to set up tanks.... maybe when the boy gets a job and moves out, but then again where will I put my sewing/craft room........ have to have something to keep me busy while Adam is out driving around the country.

WOW FT what an arse to pull that and I agree with you it is not very nice, my hay guy is still charging me what I paid last year 2 bucks a bale. and he said he isn't loosing anythin!!!!, He said they want to take advantage of people is all and make excuses, he says he is a bit shorter than last year but not enough to hike the price through the roof...... and he is just over my Marion, my neighbor too said he is a bit shorter cuz his 2nd crop was late, so he lost a bit on 3rd, but noway near what peole are saying they are out....... they are out for a buck is the problem........I just hope my hay guy has enough for the whole winter for all the people he supplies, because last year a guy who bought hay from him stole over 500 bales when he was gone which made him run out and I had to look for another source, which sucked but we made it this year it would kill me.......... and I only have 3 too feed..How many horses do you have? that you go through 270 bales a month, we gp through 60, 2 bales a day....

DrH hope ya get rid of those little critters..... I have never had any here but when we lived in town, every time my dogs went out I swear they came back with thousands........ terrible to get rid of.too argghhh..... I feel for ya man..........sending prayers that repel fleas......:fl

Vicki sorry the weather was so naughty by you today, it wasn't too bad in Wausau cloudy and kinda damp a little windy this afternoon, but all in all better than all day rain we were outside, from after breakfast till 4? I think..... hope it improves for you soon Tomorrow and Moday do not sound very promising thou..... they are saying high of 31 here.... yuckkk cold.......brrrrrrrrrrrrr

Cind ........great score so happy for you doing the yahhhhhh jump :ya happy dance, hope it helps with the space issue and ya get it set up soon. b4 the snow flies........
so anyway I guess that is all people, hope I didn't miss anyone but my hands are about had it......... a bit much for them today I think .........will see what morning brings...... night all sleep well...........Kim
