Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good foggy morning everyone.

Roads and drive way are icy, I almost fell down a few times walking the chows. The girls are doing fine, still skiddish. I am hoping this spring, when the other girls come, they will be better. Nothing new here, Hopefully this weekend I can cover part of the unenclosed run. Think chicken wire for the roof is good enough, I was thinking netting but that is so flimsly and seems to tear easily.

Good Morning everyone!!!! I'm posting from Muncie, Indiana today and for the next few days as we are visiting Grandma for Thanksgiving Day/weekend.

The chickens are doing well. It hasn't been too cold by us (only into the 30s) so the chickies haven't had any problems yet. Their water only slightly froze up once. This brings to mind a question. What do you do to keep their water fluid?

I have two Grandchildren with PDD and ADHD. They are siblings. We just got done doing the Autism walkathon in Madison. It is held every October. It is better to know, you now have options and can understand behaviors better. Unfortunately it is difficult for others to understand. Halden will be better with your knowledge and a good therapist will help with giving you tools in different situations. If you ever need someone to talk to, drop me a line and I will give you my number.

I haven't checked in on here in forever.

Nothing new going on at the farm, really. we built a new shelter for our horse and donkeys. my nieces have been riding the donkeys, and had a blast with it!

I can't wait to get them in their new pasture so i won't be pulling burdox out of them 3 times a day!!

I have one that plugs in, and I add ACV to others to delay the freeze. I also have an inverted galvanized feed dish with electric heat tape in the inside, that I later in the winter put in the coop. I place a gallon waterer on that. Right now i do not have freeze issues. I bring the waters inside when it is going to freeze when I close up the coop at night and take them back out in the morning. I have one three gallon water for chickens and one plastic bucket for the ducks.

Good Froggy Morning All! JJ I got it right away. Saw a lot of SS with the youngest DD. And Pee Wee but think that was more for me. Tomski sorry to hear about Bert and the others. At least you caught the mink. And a bird in the hand....... I've seen a lot of people hold off for the big one and ended up eating their tag. Jim I used some flat angle brackets, 10 screws and it all comes off. Thought of springs too for the tailgate but opted for pins. Used those ones that have the wire on them. Think springs would work you'd only need one per side. You could add a pull ring to each for easy removal. Or just bungee them down. Bl4me hope they get something going for Halden and hope they've caught it early enough! ODrH sounds like quite the ordeal! Get some sleep!!!!! Think the meds are working on Peatwo he's limping a lot, it's getting smaller, and the scab is gone. Think it's real tender on his little foot. Poor baby! Cindy had a dream last night that we ended up with 9 kittens.

It puts a little smile on my face when people say I'm not normal.

Bigfam~hugs, prayers and love. Take a deep breath, now you know for sure, square your shoulders, put on your mom pants (know you have a great pair) and lean on us whenever you need to. We moms are all here for you just like you are there for your baby

Hurley~wow. as a former vet tech (one of many hats I've worn) and huge animal lover, you are my hero!!! I know of what you speak and there are vets that would never have even tried.

Chickens in the house??? You mean that's not normal???? Really???? Gee, that means WE'RE not normal!!! Here's my best shocked face

Huge hello to all the returning friends and lurkers

CC~yep! I started scolding Soup, my feather plucking culprit (who also happened to be my boss hen) and that seemed to have knocked her off her throne a bit (which saved her from the peepers I bought) and she's gotten a lot better about leaving Crockpot's butt alone but I think sometimes that big red thing flashing just gets the better of her. She's learned tho because she only tries it now when she thinks I'm not looking

I'm trying to stay more diligent w/the blue cote and I also have been applying Nustock. Boy, does that stuff smell!!! No body goes near Crockpot when she has a fresh coat of that on her butt!

I did check her bottom aster posting yesterday and there are more little "dots" of feathers showing up than before. I just don't think after having so many try to grow back in and get pulled out (before and after she came to me) that she will ever be a "fluffy butt" but as long as she gets some cover I will be satisfied. She never was the prettiest girl in the flock anyway. Maybe that's what made her my favorite (that and her personality). Her face coloring is so strange, especially around her eyes, that my hubby says she looks like a teradactyle!!

OT~ yep, really icy here too. Looks like it's warming fast tho. 2 more days of nice then we are supposed to get 3" of snow,
th.gif
and not to see above freezing again for at least a week. Sheesh. How are you supposed to adjust to this crazy weather?

Chickie Scratch~ HI!!! from Muncie! Boy, are you going to come home to some cold. Hope you have a wonderful turkey day with family.

My turkey day is going to be a very quiet, THANKFUL, day. All the fam, aka deer hunters have gone home to their own families, I miss my daughter but the logistics just weren't possible for them to come here this year but it's ok because we had a several day visit with them in late summer. We are just going to relax, enjoy our blessings, watch some football and get the chooks ready for the snow.

HAVE A WONDERFUL AND BLESSED THANKSGIVING IN, WITH ALL HER FLAWS,
THE GREATEST NATION ON EARTH!!!

Oh, and let's not forget a little prayer for all our guys and girls so far from home doing what it takes so we may have a safe and free Thanksgiving, and all the other loved ones that must be so far from home tomorrow.

HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY LADIES!!!!!

Happy Almost Thanksgiving All!

More organized this time: I really want to get this cool lamb cook book to whomever cooks lamb and was asking. It has about 30 lamb recipes and is a time life book in mint condition. I gave a dime for it at a yardsale.

We are trying to pay off my DW's credit cardS (in this moment DW stands for quite a few things), so her answer was obviously "Hey, let's order a machine that flows with chocolate." Just the necessities I guess, "let them eat cake". Anyway, it was about 30 bucks on QVC and worked, tasted great. (marshmallows and strawberries). You mix vegetable oil and chocolate chunks, melt them in microwave or however, then pour it in the machine and plug it up. And ours is not for sale : (- not that anyone wanted it.

I have got to get pictures of my chickens on here, they are cool. Really gonna try to get that done over my 4 day Thanksgiving break. You know, 3 eggs a day adds up fast if you don't just eat'em daily. We had a 10 egg scramble yesterday morning, I got home late so gave the leftover to the chicks this morning and some mac and cheese and the egg shells. I am the most popular member of the flock now. The eggs look cool in the fridge too, brown, white, mint, brown, white, mint,...3 aday, sometimes 2.

Jim, the trailer I bought was a converted boat trailer and I need to heighten my sides sometime also. The previous owner had drilled small holes in the bottom of the sideposts? of the sides so that where they stick out at the bottom through the bracketts that hold them, I just put a wire through there and twist it. I noticed and learned this right when I went back to the speed bump on the dump road and put my sideboard back on........
