Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yeah, my problem is my schedule. There are many nights I am not home before dark, so would probably have to rig an automatic door for them or something in that case.

If you come here and test you can see how I have it set up..ducks and chickens in the same pen during the winter with separate enclosures inside. If you want scovys let me know. I am taking two hens and a drake in for butchering Thursday.

Yeah, I want to start with eggs, that's part of the whole fun. :) I'd like to train some to come up to the house for their coop/feed, but have range to the pond to be ducks. I know I can rig pools for them, but that pond just looks like duck heaven.

How far do they range? The pond is at the back of the 5 acre property, the house/chicken coops at the front.

They will go to the water if you walk them out a few days in a row after you train them to come in at night. I would always train them in at night first before introducing water..or you will not see them again. They will roost in trees at night if you get Muscovy's so they are a bit different. Hatching them out your self will make it wonderful. You will have to invest a time routine for them and they will follow it pretty easy. They are wonderful birds.
As baby chicks, you will probably start in a small pool or large dish. Our ducks were in the water (pool)at 3 days old.

Angie; let your inner tiger OUT! That is YOUR baby that school is dropping the ball on! It is this kind of c@p that makes my blood boil.... the schools want all of this health info so they can take proper care of your child. So you give them as much information as you can so your child is well taken care of and if an emergency arises the school will know what to do so that your child remains in good hands. And then this sort of thing happens..............

You do NOT need to apologize for stepping on anyone's toes; THEY should be apologizing to YOU. They would be getting the riot act from me if that was my child. You are TRUSTING them to take care of your child. If all the information is just a few simple computer clicks away there is NO excuse for not being aware of a child's medical condition. UGH!

This is why my kids have always been told to keep their cell phones on them. If there is an emergency my number is RIGHT there. I have had enough bad experiences with the local school and health issues I will not ever trust them to do what they should be doing. They could not even follow the instructions the school nurse gave them!!!

I will get off the soapbox now, but this kind of stuff really ticks me off.

Nothing else going on here. Pretty boring actually.

Hi All!

Bl4... Hope you got your bathroom done!

Dr.H.....Peace be with your mom and your family...and you! Glad people are around to help your dad out. I'm sure you'll be checking in on him too. You know you have lots of shoulders here if you need them!

Angie... Congrats on the green egg! Sorry your having a hard time with the school and hope your DD gets back on track! 500!!!

I panic when DH's goes over 300! or under 70!

GR... WOW... That sounds like a mess! Been there ourselves a couple of times. For a long time our bank would run debits before deposits for the day so if you made a deposit and then wrote out checks, if they hit the same day you could wind up in the hole even when the money was there! It's like you had to have "extra" money in there to cover all the time.

Finally a few years ago I guess they got the message with enough people complaining! Hope it gets stright soon. Too bad about the horse.

Bf4m....Hope things turn around for you too!

CC.... keep spoiling Ramie!

Well, DH brought the mash pans out to the chickens but forgot to open the door to let them out! Not all bad though, when I finally got my butt up and moving it was a little after noon.

Anyway, I went to let them out and they exploded out the door! I looked around and there were more eggs (some just on the floor) than I have been getting .... ahhh haaa! Proof they have been laying else where! Came in for a little while and then went out to mix a batch of scratch and I hear crack/splat! went to look and saw an egg split in half on each side of an open nest box.... looked up and a pullet was in the rafters. Hummm....that explains why I kept finding the remains of broken eggs around there! Thought I might have had an eater but only found broken eggs in that one area. How do I get her to lay IN the nest instead of over it?

Guess that's it.... night all!

Good Morning Everyone! Tomski's lurking close your blinds or put some clothes on. ODrH I was thinking maybe a tunnel that comes up under the pond. Think that's the only way you'll be able to keep them safe.

Angie I'm with Bl4 it's them that should be apologizing! Keep stepping until they get it right! BL4 probably missed it but that must be the second bathroom? GR think most of us has had bank problems like that at one time or another. Think the people that screwed it up should pay you for their mistake. It's just wrong! Glad Adam will be home for a spell! Thank you all again for the heartfelt condolences for mom, it means a lot!

Yes Cindy they have been very helpful. Good medicine. Had to put a screen door on the back porch yesterday. Kissy climbed to the top of the window screen while I was saying good by to L and getting ready to release the Kracken. Had all the good stuff to install it but discovered I didn't have a knob that would work for the inside. So going to make a handle today. Got the door in and Kissy climbed to the top, made her figure out how to get down. Dad said I should have named them Bonnie and Clyde.

Think you'll be leaving them cooped up later until they relearn on the egg laying. Gotta get L's car warmed up.

I am re-painting the bathroom we remodeled a few years ago. Ladies, if your DH cannot caulk a straight, smooth bead of caulk; do not let him near a caulk gun!

Since we women seem to change our minds a lot, I decided I did not like the color in the bathroom a few months ago and bought all of the paint to get the job done.... issue was finding the time. I also decided I did not like having the paint color around the tub, so I have been painting those walls white. I an still stuck on the painting the walls white stage trying to cover the colored paint....... I think one more coat should do it (yes I KNOW I should have put a primer like Kilz up first, but it is light pink paint and I thought it would cover.....).

Off to work.

Enjoy the day!
