Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Snowy Mornin To All.... Coming down really good right now. Looks like better than 8" so far. I usually don't like snowy days, but Suzie has her bakin hat on today too. Fresh warm oatmeal/raisin cookies sure go good with the java today. I'll just bet a cherry pie will be bakin some time later today. I better change to jogging pants, I think the jeans are gonna be uncomfortable today.

Time to check on the coops. My chickens hate snow...prolly throw a couple cobs of corn in each coop to keep em busy.

later...bigz

Good morning! I had to go back and reread all that I saw last night...I think I drank too much Sherry...either that or I just shouldnt read while I am that tired!
DH went out to clear the snow early and there wasnt much to clear; but then he tried to get my car out and I guess he had problems so decided to do the whole driveway with the skid loader. Then he left for work and was gone for a half hour...he turned around and came back home after about 3 miles. Said the roads are just terrible and he almost went off twice. His leg was "hurting" the whole time! Phantom pain from when he rolled his truck last time I guess...he is home for the day and even said that he would take me to work today. I think I will stay home...

Jim make sure you clean up that antifreeze spill real well...I had a couple of my dogs that got into some of that stuff...lost one of them after a huge vet bill. I'm sure you probably know that but it bears repeating...I hope your roo is OK.

Well I guess I oughta get my butt outside and see what's up...sometimes I think it would be really nice to be able to stay home from work and not have to do anything! DD26 is off and is watching TV...and probably will be all day! Yeah,,,I have to go outside now.

Stay safe everyone! TerriOthinkingaboutbreakfasttoo

Having fun in the snow today?? I had enough of it in my front yard to make one GIANT snowman, and 3 little ones! :) Here they are:
And Here's a Shot of the dogs in a drift(Please note, he is A Springer Spaniel, about 2-1/2 - 3 feet tall, so these are big drifts...):

The Tom got out of the temp coop while I was trying to make it more weather resistant. Went right for the Turkey pen and of course the other Tom had to come and "protect" his girls. How he managed to get bloody "elbows" through the fence is beyond me. He didn't look very happy after I retrieved the other one. BTW.... jeez these are people friendly birds! Even all wound up I can go and pick them up and carry them.
You can pick up & carry your turkeys? Wow. My sis got a female from a neighbor and she is like a boulder! Just a monster in size and will just plop down in front of you wanting attention. And there is no moving her once she's plopped.

I would love to know what she weighs.

Vicki, I love that pic! Too cute. I love all the puppy pics too, and the chickies too, of course.

H&R, 7.5"?????? Yikes, you're just to the west of us. There is still some snow on the ground here from last night even though it has been pouring all morning. If it would have been snow, we'd have easily gotten 6 or 7" already today. I'm glad you & your family are staying home, Terri. I wish everyone could on such nasty weather days. It's just not worth it.

Our power got knocked out for quite a while over night. Not sure from what. Most of the lines around here are underground. I'm just glad it's back on. I need my Cheesie fix on such a crappy day. Looks like I'll be doing laundry & wrapping gifts today, and making a big pot of chicken soup. Yum! None of the chickies have ventured outside today or yesterday. Good thing they've got lots of space inside. They're going to need it with this yucky weather. Hmmm, looks like the wind has picked up. better send this off before I lose it. Stay safe & warm, everyone!

What a nice morning, I go out, get the little truck ready to head 2 miles on up/down hill roads to where my chickens and horses live to go feed them. The little truck got stuck just off the drive way. So off I go to get the big truck (yes I know I should have done that in the 1st place). I had to get the battery for the truck out of the semi dead volvo AND the positive cable. So I get all that back on Old Sara (my truck), get 6 inches of snow off of her, tie down her hood, lock in the hubs, put her in 4 wheel drive and OFF I went. I was dressed like a researcher in the antarctic. I got to where they live, called Mike to let him know I was alright. Fed the chickens, trudged out with grain to the hay and horses. loaded the bales on my sled, and went into their paddock to give them enough food through tomorrow. They are fine, happy, 2 in blankets, 2 so fat they don't need it. Called Mike again to let him know I would be coming home. Had to stop for a big rig going west, and slow for the emergency light/water crews out. But made it home, eating a sandwich.. and we have no power.

No power, we are on electric heat so I have the rooms divided up with heavy sheets between. Called the light/water emergency line in our area, sure hope the power comes on soon.
The chickens are fine, I am finally starting to get eggs again!

I had a terrible day yesterday, I was chatting with KristiP on Face Book and here is what I wrote.. ***Note- today is much better but you have to read it to know WHY!!***

I was forced to quit my job Weds..
Long story, I am fighting it,
I have called the Team member hotline, the regional HR director and the regional VP. I was on the phone with the HR guy for a WHILE this afternoon.
Basically the two asst. managers decided they didn't want me working there anymore, and whether it was their timing or an actual series of events they were able to claim happened (which didn't) IE on my cell phone in the delivery truck and rifling through papers on a desk at a company I delivered a part to looking for a pen, which I carry 1- in my pocket and 2- one in the clip board we have....
So much fun.. NOT... they basically said, I should quit becuase I would get fired by HR for safety violations and the company said they didn't want me to deliver there, therefor I couldn't drive for the company any more and I would only get about 4 hours a week.
And if they did fire me and I tried to get my unemployment, they the corporate lawyers would fight and I wouldn't get anything anyway.
One was supposedly being on my cell phone while in the truck on my way to deliver a part
. Which I wasn't I said you can check my phone

The other was the supposed rifling through paperwork on a desk to find a pen at a shop. AND putting parts on the counter AND walking back into the car repair bays... All at one shop
And nothing of other supposed complaints from other shops was ever said, no write ups NOTHING until 3 reports in at 1 time, on the managers day off,
I think the reason they did this is that on Tuesday, another employee who had been there for a few years came in to give his notice due to lack of hours.
AND about 2 weeks after one of the asst. managers (one of the ones there today) tried to get his neighbor hired, and he wasn't due to lack of hours...

Well things are looking up. I got a call from the district VP, I am not terminated, I can "un-quit" and some possible compensation was vaguely mentioned... Cass (1 of the Asst. Managers) and the other 1 Mike are in for a rude surprise!! hehehehehe

The only downside is I will probably have to work at another store, like one in Janesville, Sun Prairie or north side of Madison...
My parakeets have gone gonzo over one toy a mirror thing with a bell at the bottom...
No power, house cooling... off to get under blankies!

Apparently in my case, instead of "when it rains, it pours..." for me its "When is snows, it Blizzards!!"
Want to save battery power.

Ok Ok, I'm back and alive !!!
IF any of you remember I was headed down to Racine for my niece Addy's birthday on December 1st. Then of course we had our plumbing problem (sock clogging the pipe to septic) so I didn't make it down until the early part of the next week.

Anywho.... once I got down there I just couldn't leave..... I got to babysit her a few times. We baked cookies and made hand impressions in flour/salt/water to make ornaments.
I got home this last Sunday. I stayed down longer to babysit an extra day because Addy came down with strep throat, most likely from going to Monkey Joes on her birthday. Poor baby.

I brought the kitten "Halo" down and Addy loves her. She carried her all over. Once even by the head
ep.gif
Kitty never scratched or bit her, nice kitty !!! LOL

Dolly had to go to the vet while we were down there, She won't put weight on her hind leg. They did xrays and saw slight hip dysplasia but thought there was a soft tissue injury. All we know is we heard a weird yelp and cry before I went down to Racine, thought it was the kitten. Checked and everyone was ok. Turns out it was Dolly (my Aunts dog I inherited)
She is on Rymidal but is still favoring it.

Halo Kitty got spayed Monday in Rhinelander at "the fix is in" She did great. For $45 she got spayed, a rabies shot, ear cleaning and nail trim. Good Deal......She is one spoiled kitty.
Oh and while I was down there I went to Pets Supplies Plus. Fell in love with the parakeets. DH ET had a green one as a kid. So I didn't want to buy him one from a pet store so I looked on www.petfinder.com and the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee had several..... Needless to say last Friday I was there for a few hours. Nice gift shop by the way !!!!
hide.gif
More kitty toys for Halo... she already got her presents for Christmas.
Came home with two parakeets. A green and yellow male and a white and blue female. Named Guapo and Jeaprody !!!
I wanted Thunder and Lightning (older pair) but they won't adopt out more then one cage of birds although they did make an exception because my two were in seperate cages.
They were only $7 each PLUS they give you a certificate to have them seen by a vet which I didn't do because I was headed home on Sunday and there weren't any vets up this way that were on their list.
Of course I looked at the bunnies which for any of you interested are only $15 which come spayed/neutered AND also get a vet certificate. So of course being the jabber box that I am I told them about the Flemish Giant bunnies up here that need homes and she said Bring them Down. We will find homes for them.
bun.gif

So I have a message in to the gal up here and told her I would bring them down for her if she wants.
What I don't get myself into geez...... That would mean I'd have to get the rolls and scraps of carpet out of the van...... I raided the dumpster at a carpet store in Racine..... now DH can make Halo, Whisper and Nash a cat tower !!!!
Well, that's about it other then I found this ad on CL this morning....... Free Pot Bellied Pig in Racine !!!!! There is no room at the Inn up here !!!

Someone please help !!! http://racine.craigslist.org/pet/3490090551.html

OH and for some VERY GOOD NEWS..... Remember Cody the rescue horse?????? I'm pretty sure he has a forever home !!!!
celebrate.gif
No not here !!!! I haven't heard back but for pretty sure they had someone interested. I asked if they would find out if I could come visit him now and then with treats. I have to tell you that getting that horse out of that situation was the best feeling I ever ever had in my life !!!! I had made him a promise the first day I saw him that he wouldn't have to live like that and would not stop until he was out of there..... Merry Christmas Cody !!

So Delish... You're in Racine.... I think you need a pet pig !!!

Sorry all I haven't been keeping up. I had computer access down by Addy but she kept me hopping !!!
gig.gif

I'll try to post some pictures but my computers card reader is being a pain lately !!

Ooops double post, so had to delete for those of you with a short memory... didn't want you to all have to read it twice !!!

Oh and I was so impressed with "the fix is in" that I'm thinking about volunteering when they do the spays in Crandon.... such a good program !!

Nice to hear from you Frenchie!

Snow, snow, snow...... I would say we have a good 7+ inches out there.... and still falling. Oshkosh reported around 10" at 1.... really glad I did not go in, but I bet my boss is ticked since he had to go in. Apparently they only have 2 people there working second shift, they guys who live right in town. Perhaps they will get smart and just close up.....

Back to cleaning!!!!

I'm glad to hear from you too, Frenchie, even though your posts sometimes make my eyes cross.

It changed to snow down here between 2 & 2:30 and it is piling up fast!
