With five kids? I don't think she caught on yet.

Well, some of you already know my excitement of the weekend, but I will share a pic for the rest of you. Went to the in-laws yesterday and the two youngest thought hey should take a trip or two down the sledding hill. The sledding hill that had melted and then was rained on and then frozen solid so it was pretty much a luge course..... a VERY ROUGH luge course. My youngest DS found out that you should try REALLY hard to NOT wipe out on the ice.... and it would be best if your FACE was not what you use to stop yourself.

Yes he is fine, no broken bones or missing teeth. Just a lot of roadrash and swelling. Iced him up pretty good right off the bat and then again a few hours later. I knew he was not hurt too badly since he came right up to the house not crying at all. At school today the one 5th grade teacher decided that they would make him the spokesperson for WHY you should be careful on ice.

Taking the crew of critters to the vet tomorrow. Two dogs and three cats..... I hope I am able to get them all there and back by myself.
Oww- poor baby! I did that once when I was little too. No fun...Hope he heals fast !

Good evening all! Ugh I hate this weather. I wish spring started in january.
The chickens have all been happy, and laying pretty good now. We went from 1 egg to 7. I think the fact that they didn't want to go out in the snow and had to lay in the boxes has really helped. They have been flying the coop and out free ranging again so hopefully they don't fall into some bad habits.
The incubating is going good I think. Set them on Friday morning, so a long way to go...
Had our first contractor out today to look at the kitchen, and also the garage. Well- we don't have a garage, so we are adding one of those too. I think I want one of them more than a bigger kitchen. So tired of slipping down the icy driveway with kiddos, groceries...Hopefully this will be the last year of that!
Thanks for the laughs tonight everyone; I needed that

Hi All!

DrH... put some catnip on that post...they will all love it then!

Unk.... sorry about your crooked rod, heard it's a common problem with older men.

Bl4.... Think of the story he'll have to tell his kids! Glad he's ok. Congrats on the check ups!

TO... Sounds like your day off was interesting if nothing else!

Looks like a short, uneventful day for most of us.... Night All!

Good Morning All! Bigz knew you had a wood boiler but for some reason thought it was outside.

I don't like the idea of having to go OUTSIDE to fill it. Cindy good idea on the nip, they just had their first taste.

All H has broken loose! T and K are in a growth spurt. Hoping Toby's body catches up with his ears and tongue. I swear he can cover half his face with his tongue. L will put a drop of ice cream on her finger just for the entertainment. Bl4 oww been there done that several times. One that is forever burned into my mind is the time when I was on a saucer and some DA decided to have a cocoa break with his kids at the bottom of the hill. He turned their tobogan sideways. All the kids sitting neatly in a row facing away from the hill. It was like a bowling alley. Despite me yelling warnings it was a bloody carnage I tell ya. Then the guy had the gall to yell at me. Don't think he went far in life. judge it was the same thing here 1 then 5. Jim good idea on letting that cable freeze before reinstalling.

Was going to mention doing that and forgot. Sold the saw yesterday asked if he needed a great snowblower. He said a bad word and told me his GF just bought one. Told him too bad he could have gotten a great package deal. Better get something done then some breakfast.

Good morning..

Face road rash!! owie!!

Brrrrr not as chilli as yesterday, but, still cold. The chickens did not want to come out very fast this morning. With feeding and watering outside, they have no choice, so, out they go!
The chicks are growing and feathering and I am already gnashing at the teeth to get them out. Dust is already an issue. I ordered some Silkie eggs from show stock and those were sent out yesterday. If I am raising chicks in the house I may as well raise some chicks. The hen is still setting tight on her eggs too. So Judge I might be hatching with you or shortly after. I did also win some eggs from the contest and I have no idea what those will be, or when they will be sent.

Keep warm all!!

Vicki

i have to travel for work. Florda this time... I think 70 will feel amazing!! But hate to leave the fam and worry the chickens wont get the same care that they are used to:)

good a.m.
chilly today.. I wonder what the people from the southern states would call it ?
looks like a "water the birds twice" kind of day..

I am curious to see if the choke cable is frozen today.. If not, then I WON !!!

my birds are fed outside also.. I think it is good for them to get a breath of fresh air every day.. even if it is cold enough to take their breath away..

both dogs refused to come in last night.. I hope they found a warm nest..

the pup, (Gus) is nearly as big as Dora.. he doesn't answer to "Gus" yet.. It is still "Puppy" to him.. can't you just see it ? a 120 pound dog named Puppy ? maybe for the record, I can call him Poppy or Peppy or Pappy.. then he won't be so confused..?? all that dogs can understand is the last syllable anyhow..

other than feeding the birds, I have no plans for the day..

Annie has a couple of things she wants me to do.. so I guess I DO have plans after all..

hi folks,

nothing good about it so a hi is all you get today

yes Jim, a day for thawing the waterer's for sure, the ez clean has iced a bit, I think I will put a small electric heater w/T-cube aimed at it, couple of colder days coming should save some grief.

TO, I too am feeding FF, only every other day here and I do it mid day,,,I cut back on the amount so they clean it up or yes it does freeze. I also am just using scratch with no mash right now,,,make mine in the basement

I am feeding some fodder,,,mine is more like sprouted grain with just a bit of green shoots. Never setup the auto system, I am using the "flats" lined with mill fabric and a 5 day rotation. It's what works easiest for me. I still get 3#s of sprouts from 1# of grain, I toss this to the birds mid-morning egg check time. Try to get a pic later today.

FYI:Menards has "off brand" seeds for sale through Sat at 5 cents/pack
