Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oh, I forgot to tell you I'm ordering red laced white Cornish for the store too. And maybe Iowa Blues.
So: assorted clean and feather legged bantams, LF salmon faverolles, blue laced red wyandottes, silver spangled hamburgs, ameraucanas, red laced white cornish, cuckoo marans, ancona ducklings, special blacks, leghorns, browns and broilers.

BigFam, you can also train the dog to 'go' in a specific area of your yard. Have a dog trained to go on command saves a lot of hassle down to road. When we trained our dogs we would treat them when they would do their business outside and tell them to 'go potty'. Taking them to the exact same place where they have gone before helps them with training since they smell their own 'calling card'. (Even the messes made in the house should be taken to this area.) If you want to make sure you catch the poops, feed on a schedule! After every feed, about 20 min later the dog will have to go. The tethering is a good idea too, but might be difficult with all the kids. Setting up ground rules on how you train and who is training will also help. Patience, patience, patience....... just like with kids. And NO RETURNS. Tough it out, you will be fine. Housebreaking is very frustrating, but eventually they get it. And I agree with TO, the whole rubbing the dogs nose in the feces is not necessary.

Brrr....... time to crawl under the down comforter!

Wow I cannot believe this wind! The house is shaking. Our big St. Bernard/Great Dane cross, Judge, sleeps on the floor of our porch. I gave him a quilt to lay on because it's a concrete floor. Hoping all the animals will be fine tonight and the next few days. The coop is not insulated, but should be draft free. I am thinking they will gather together on the roost to stay warm. I am just as worried about the fainting goats and the mini. I gave them all a huge amount of straw that I ripped off the bale. Wish they were completely enclosed, but the opening is to the east, so hopefully the wind is not blowing straight in on them. I read it is supposed to be down to -15 tonight with the wind chill,, and worse in the next couple days. I guess we will see...
Stay warm everyone!

I'm not going to swap for just anything. I'm definetly waiting until later to do hatching this year! And I sort of have 3 incubators, cough cough, I could spare one for Terri... :-D

Our house is shaking too, Judge. The wind is just crazy!

JJ, that is Tommy & Tina that Terri (hmmm, am I seeing a pattern here?) is holding. Don't quote me on this, but if memory serves (pipe down Bigfam), I think Terri said she wasn't quite sure what her exact breeding was. She might have had an idea on the mom? Can't remember specifics, sorry. But Tommy is a bantie. Not for sure if Tina is, but she is very small.

They're quite the attractive couple, in any case.

Sinuses got my head banging again, so sweet dreams, all, and don't blow away doing chores!

Hi All!

BBP.... Hope you get your hen fixed! I only had to deal with that once and unfortunately, by the time I found her the others (or she) had pecked at it.

From what I hear the prep.H works pretty well. Yep, that feeding project sounds interesting. How about chick races... put a few under a basket in the center of a circle. Put chick food on an outer circle and see who gets there first! A match game with pictures of hes and like roos or hens and like chicks?

Bf4m.... Hope you get the puppy in the swing of things real soon!

DrH.... glad they didn't draw blood.... this time! Tazz probably as been telling them horror stories!

Cool L's snoring has gotten better.

CC... The plastic was still attached in a couple of spots so it was more like a sail on the turkey pen! Good thing those metal crates I'm using as one side are so heavy or the whole works might have sailed away to the neighbors!

Jim... glad you found an easy fix for Ollie!

TO... Yep, we have eggs for supper fairly often. Omelets are great for supper and you can often use up bits of leftovers. LMAO!!! I just noticed the cat on the left of that pic of Tommy and Tina!!!

Holy Cr@P! The wind is horrendous!!! The poor turkeys wound up getting semi boarded up. Had to strap the board on! But at least it's kinda cozy in there now.

Well, got fix chicken mash... then bed! Night All!

Good Morning! 6* here this AM and no wind.

CC have been thinking about the bator. Have a good spot for it but it's accessible to the monsters. Really hoping for a good broody this year! Hope your sinuses improve! Got everything done for the cold spell yesterday that I could. Just have to hunker down now. Jim so are you saying size does matter? Glad you got it figured out. Roll on Ollie! Cindy Kissy WAS slower in developing than Toby, she is now attacking Taz too. She was scared of her before. Taz is such a B! Bigz thinkin left coast vs right with NE from the east for the big one. We'll find out later. BPP sounds like the wheels are turning sounds like a fun time. Have a pound of bacon cooked and two lbs of sausage just about done. Think some panycakes would go well with them.
