Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Quote: Yeah JJ--that is just one reeeaaally long run on sentence! I think I got the gist of it but I am not sure I would want to have a conversation with them!
My Marans started dark and then went a bit lighter as the laying season went on

Good evening! I decided to open another window....40 posts to read! I will never remember anything! Especially that I have been up since Cind went to bed! Yeah, I did chores at 4:30 this AM and I have yet to do them tonight except for the horses...I had to run a 4H meeting after work. AAACK! We did cow judging for Hoard's Dairymen and they were actually good sports about judging cows when they are all "horse" kids.

Cheryl--you have some nice dark eggs to hatch! That sure doesnt look like the same bator you started with either!

A belated welcome to the new folks...EVERYONE, please be sure to add the bash link in your siggy! With the threads we all visit here we might just hit everyone!
(thanks! your promoter

SO work was uneventful...I did find a dead quail frozen to the water bowl this AM! OH YEAH...I did not EVER say that I beat my dog with a frozen bird! If she decided to kill another one though I may! I just wanted to set the story straight!

I guess I better hop offof here and get the rest of the animals locked up...I am off of work for a week or so...I feel like I really NEED the break!

Hey Kristi--If you get some bells that hang on your back door the dog should figure them out pretty quickly. Alternatively you can tie some jingle bells on a string and tape them to the door, That is what my neighbor does with hers. I just have sleigh bells on the door and they all ring them (usually) to go out. The problem is sthat they ring so often (with 5 dogs) that SOME of the people (not mentioning any names here of course) no longer hear the bells!

Bells are ringin' gottarun--Nighties...TerriOinvitinganyonethatwantstocomtodoffeonfridaymorningwearemeetintatstarbuckswhew!

Terri.. Friday is an EXCLUSIVE event! Not just anyone can come. It has to only be people who have chickens, have experienced a frozen dead bird, and will be nice to a little boy with autism.

Some people are such social butterflies! I guess that's why she's in charge of bash promoting...

I let the white Ameracaunas out of the brooder box finally. That was 2 weeks ago. The hoodlums (guineas) are awful to them. They are so much worse than any hen! Well my whites have been dropping lately. I think with the cold weather the guineas havent been going outside. Which means they have been staying in the back shed and tormenting any young bird that tries to go for food and water. I have lost 3 Ameracaunas so far. Hopefully they were all roosters...

Guess I won't be joining you on Friday. Sheesh! No frozen dead birds here.

Hey Bigfam, you could always take a frozen corpse to your guineas?

Heeeeyyyyy! I like that idea! But those darn guineas are so fast... I'd probably just be tossing around the dead frozen bird without hitting a single one! :p

Hey everyone! Just thinking about the Bash.. do any of you moms go it alone with your kids? What happens at night? Do all the moms and kids go to bed, or do you leave them sleep and head out to hang with the grown ups?
Long way off I know, just got to thinking....

Hi I am here,, just waiting for things to pick up..

I took the big trailer and picked up 2500 pounds of laying crumbles today.. I left it right on the pallet on the trailer and covered it with a tarp.. I have 4 trailers, UnkaDan.. one is still full of straw.

speaking of straw, I found two turkey eggs in the straw trailer this morning.. and we are still getting a goose egg per day..

the light burned out in the chicken coop.. Annie layed a bulb on the table and I took it out and screwed it in.. it did not go on.. so I got a new one out of the pack and it worked.. as it turns out, instead of tossing the burned out one into the trash, she laid it on the table.. she must have some phobia about lifting the trash container lid,,

DD#1 de-fragged my computer.. or something.. now it is a bit faster.. so what happens next ? funny you should ask,, today my battery went dead in the mouse..

Watsa matter TerriO, we don't have to put disclaimers on here, do we ? Nobody ever said you used a FROZEN chicken.. UnkaDan says they leave bruises.. IDK ..

I had two very special "root beers" last night,, I could hardly hit my arse with both hands.. but I slept pretty well.. Annie fell asleep on the couch til I woke her up and sent her toward the bedroom..

llllllljimnotlookingforwardtotomorrow../////////..

I know from my end last year it was tough. I came for one day, chased the boys around pretty much the whole time, then went home. Didn't really get to interact with anyone much.

Hoping this year will be a bit better. Still won't be able to stay overnight, but hoping to talk to people a little maybe during the day. The boys are 2 and 3 now, getting a little better about taking some direction.

there is no age limit there.. eveybody of any age sits around the fire pit and nips from BegZ'a special flask.. there is a fenced in covered dog kennel where the kids are locked in all together after 8 PM.. some of them have a blanket and they usually share with the ones who don't..

I don't bring anybody with me,, this is just what I observed..but I really wasn't paying that close attention, so I might be just a tad wrong ..

Judge, there is a pen for the kids. We adults lock them up in the pen at night and we have fun chatting away by the fire. After a drink or two (or three) you will not even notice the howling...... and the great thing is no neighbors to tick off!!!!

JK, everyone hangs out together and tries to chit-chat. I suppose it all depends on how old your kids are. Amy brings her little ones and has not had an issue, and the rest of us TRY to help......

Oh, just an FYI there is some poison ivy near the campsite. A little off the path but I am certain nobody would like to take THAT home with them.

Hi All!

Vicki.... It's a good thing our chickens can't read! If they saw the way you spoil your chooks there would be a mass migration to your place!

Is school next on your list for them? Maybe when you get chicks. A little chickie classroom!

JJ.... That add sounds like it would be nice for someone that wanted a few "pet" chickens. Seems like he wasn't quite sure what he had.

Bl4.... Glad you made it home OK!

denise... The first time I let my youngest grandson get eggs (3yo) he thought they were balls and threw about 5 of them before I could stop him! 1 dropped egg ain't so bad!

Jim.... Shiiish! You weren't suppose to mention the "kid kennel" 'till they got there!

Did I miss a post from Big Z?
