Good Morning All! Boy kjg you know when to leave town. Certainly don't miss like Jim said 2 weeks of -20. That used to be the norm. Vic if you beat the DH with something frozen maybe he'll get it. Amy glad you check in once in awhile but have to say I miss Cartman stories.

Glad you made it home ok! H&R glad you checked in too looks like you have the bating bug too. Hope all that are get a good hatch rate! Think the kids that are up and hang around the fire pit get some education beyond what their parents intended. That's not always a bad thing. Jim those root beers are really having me thinking of going back to more than beer. Bad Naughty Jim! Forgot to put the timer back in line so I went out around 8 to turn the lamp on. Opened the door turned on the lamp and

Mice running everywhere. Saw around 5 have to wonder how many scattered before the light came on. So will be building a mazo carnival fun ride today. Going to have to dig out the water heater base to keep it from freezing otherwise it will be a mazo carnival fun ride and ice skating park. Still no uncrushed alumninum cans so guess I'll have to empty one or two. Darn it. -3 here this morning.

Good morning!

I have a job interview this morning. I have not worked in quite some time and the possibility is a bit intimidating. All the kids and foster kids are gone. I wonder how hard it is going to be to find a job with the lack of recent work experience and almost ready for retirement.

Sorry about everyone loosing birds. That is pretty tuff.

Judge, you have to go to the picnic. I will help with all the kids while I am around. Maybe we can organize a treasure hunt to keep them occupied for a little while.
.
The weather is so much nicer this morning. The birds did not want to come out yet, but, if they wanna eat and drink they need to get outThe broody is all nice and snuggly in her .broody box and a few hens help her out when she gets off. I have one I have to take off so she can go back. It is quite entertaining how nice they are at sharing.

Have a good day everyone!

Morning everyone. It's back to work for me today. I got the van back last night but I haven't had much time in it to see if the heat works.
I am hoping to go to the bash this year but using it as time away from my kids if possible! Lol.

Good luck Delisha. The job market waxes and wanes around here. My fingers are crossed for BF4me. I am having work issues now too. After 5 years here being part time they asked me to go to 30 hours.. and I did and now they are needing 40 but with no payincrease from where I am at right now. And in 3 months the drive will be much longer for me. Time to start looking. Really want to stay part time for a while longer if I can, and if we have to, stay home this summer and look in the fall again. Save on child care for the summer although things will be tight. ugh. Life is complicated.

TerriO- thanks for the bell tips. I had read that somewhere adn found some jingle bells and never did anything with it. Have to look again. He is just having accidents out of the blue. I think it is so cold he doesnt want to go out.

Chickens are good, although there were two smashed eggs in the nest box yesterday. Thought I got rid of my egg eater. my bigger birds are laying pretty good, although none of my bantam and smaller mutts are laying right now, except the silkies. Maybe too cold for them...

I can attest to how great the dog door bell is. My parents have no patience for training dogs, but have always managed to bell train the dogs they take in.to ring the bell to go out

Thanks to everyone for the egg shade knowledge. I have more marans coming this spring, maybe they will lay a darker egg(frankly I am glad to not be buying eggs and feeding chickens anymore)

May I send my 2 kids to the chickenstock if I am not coming? Sounds like they would love camping in the "kid kennel"

Hey everyone! Just thinking about the Bash.. do any of you moms go it alone with your kids? What happens at night? Do all the moms and kids go to bed, or do you leave them sleep and head out to hang with the grown ups?
Long way off I know, just got to thinking....

I'm going it alone this year. (With 4 of the 5 kids) My hubby insisted on watching the kids every second, and glowering at me for leaving him alone with them. I got to do hardly any socializing! I didn't even have ONE drink!!! Not that it's a big drink Fest, but it sure as he!! Would have been nice to relax a bit.

So this year I'm bring kiddos ages 7-14. Unless the 14 yr old thinks its uncool to go, then he can stay home too. Then I'd only have 3 monsters running around! Man... Life would be easy! If hubby doesn't trust me to pull the camper 3 hrs, then well pitch the tent or bunk house. If I'm in the bunk house, I can hear Jim's famous snoring from the chair! But I'll be sending the kids to the tent or bunk beds when I want to hang out late. The campsite is small, so the kids are always very close. No stranger danger. (Other than the chicken folk!)

Jim also makes grrrreat pancakes. The kids gobble them up! Just another incentive to stay over at least one night...;)

only -12 this morning and warming up fast~looks like it's going to be a play day in the greenhouse for the girls
big_smile.png
Good thing (had to keep them in yesterday). They actually hop up on the roost when I'm cleaning the catch box, get as close as they can, give me the stink eye and chatter at me when I don't let them outside!

Ok you guys, just cause I haven't figured out how to make them boots yet, my chookies NEED the carpet on their ramp!
idunno.gif

Cindlady~school, hmmmmm, how did you know I was thinking of seeing if I couldn't "educate" Crockpot since she is such a smart little chookie anyway, maybe she could learn a trick or two (at least one that she hasn't already figured out on her own

)

guess the girls really liked their oatmeal and blueberries yesterday. today was 4 for 4 and all laid before 8 a.m.
thumbsup.gif

We had so many eggs I made a big batch of french toast for breakfast and the girls love it because I always make enough batter so I can scramble up the leftovers for them. It will be their snack for when they go off to play in their toasty greenhouse. I have to get in there first and clean up tho because the dirt that is supposed to be in their wallows is everywhere else but!!!

Jim~you got Ollie fired up? Saw that you are supposed to get at least a little of this snow tonight. (we are in the possible 3")
