Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hello All,

I am new to the forum and to chicken raising in general. We live in Wales, WI and currently chickens are not legal here. My boyfriend and I plan on going to a town hall meeting this February to try and change this, does anyone have any recommendations? Our plan so far is just to show up with information on neighboring towns that do allow chickens.

On another note, I have read a lot about different chicken breeds and am thinking of going with Australorps. Anyone have any experience/opinions on these? We are looking for chickens that are friendly and do a lot of laying!

Thank you!
Lauren

I can't believe a raccoon was out and about in this cold weather.

Just an FYI in case anyone else is interested, the certified Pullorum Tester Training Seminar is scheduled for this year.

It's April 10th from 6:30 - 9:30 at the Hancock Ag station.

http://datcp.wi.gov/Animals/Poultry/index.aspx?Id=135

The seminar is free, but if you want to become certified you must mail in the form with a $25 fee.

Register by April 1st.

I'm planning on going, anyone else??

On average coon have to move every three days for water.

I am putting the pullout testing training poo n the schedule hopefully I will make it.

Just candles 24 midget white turkeys, only one that is completely clear!

Good luck at the town hall meeting. That can go either way. Winning over your immediate neighbors well in advance can go a long way in your favor. So do lots of homework and be prepared for a fight if need be. Babylady4 is a wealth of info on that subject. Good luck, and please feel free to ask any questions. We'll try our darndest to help.
