Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good near afternoon...we have rain coming down--a lot of it! I still need to go outside and feed too--guess I shoulda done it earlier when it was only misting! That breakfast looks almost like what I put in the chicken stock yesterday
Vicki! Speaking of....I tried one of those chicken feet last night and it was as they all say, "an explosion of good chicken taste in your mouth!" Yes it was delicious...I just tried one toe, cause I wasnt too sure but if you like to eat the necks of chickens you will love the feet. OK--now I wont say another word cause I know you all are the squeamish type!

Cind that Angel Food cake sounds great. That was always my cake of choice for my birthday too. My Mom did the box kind however! :)
DH is starting the taxes...I think I am going to be scarce today. He is always so crabby when he does them!

There is someone on here that has BLRW I think Gallus, I dont remember who though! Or maybe they were looking for some too?
Interesting about the legbars...I guess I was right on the breeding according to Wikapedia link from JJ. Interesting that they breed true AND have the blue egg gene AND are auto sexing forever...well if you dont mix them with anything else! (thanks Hurley)
Vicki--where do you get Barley straw? I need to get a bale to make filters for my horse tanks this year. I bought the crazy expensive little packets last year and they worked great to keep the scum to a minimum. Shoot, I can sew burlap and stuff them myself though for quite a bit less if I can find the straw. We have wheat and oat straw down here...

Oh man, he is starting to ask questions...guess it's time to go outside and feed! LOL! Later all you good people!

Ran out quick before the ice started too badly. Right now the DD and BF are out ice fishing..... and trying to convince me that it is only rain and I should not worry about the roads......

yeah, like it takes forever for water to freeze.....

I am going to hunker down here and read my book. Maybe take a nap. Not wanting to do our taxes quite yet here.... not like they take a lot of time but it is still a pain when I have other things I would like to do.

Later all! Stay safe!

good afternoon.. I am tired , and I don't feel much like posting.. just read 3 pages of posts.. can't remember any of it..

wedding ran late last night,, and a coouple hands of cards afterwards.. got up at 9 AM and took right off to Hatley to pick up the Tom Turkey,, he is a bit on the small size,, but he was doing his job where he was.. and the place where he was is the place I bought a royal palm hen about 5 y ears ago.. she is the one that hatched out a 2 blue slate, a spanish black and a royal palm all at the same time..

It started to rain as soon as I arrived in Hatley, and it is still raining.. I made it home and the rain was not freezing, yet..

the new guy is in one of the breeder pens by himself.. I will add the two mates in about a week or so..

found 2 turkey eggs in the guinea/dog house..

Yeah DrH, those racks have a multiple number of uses.. fencing, breeding pens, cold frames for short (10 foot) rows in the garden, cold frames for 3 ft x 10 ft beds in the garden, even a greenhouse.. and the list could grow with a little thoughtful daydreaming..

My first cuppa is long since gone cold.. think I will nuke it and then take a well needed nap..

TO~we get our barley straw from the farmers in the "potato flats" around Antigo. Somebody always has some every year. We throw it in our little pond, float some in the rain barrels and it's great to use as garden mulch because it doesn't have a lot of seed in it. I'm on my last bale and being very stingy with it but the girls just love it so when I know they must be in lock down I throw in a leaf for them to play with. Oh, and we have a call-in buy/sell/swap show on our local radio station every morning during the week. 10 to 11 a.m. I think. Got some good stuff once in a while and several calls when I was looking for something. (country 106 Antigo~you can google)

Nasty weather..it is so darn wet out. The ice has already started. I am worried about power outage and I have pips in the bator. Have the back up plan in play and a broody in the coop..

One single silkie hatched out and survived. It is soooo tiny. I have no idea how something so small can live. The rest were way too tiny and most drowned in all the liquid left in the egg. It was so unusual to see a chicken fully developed, no larger than the tip of a finger.

I hatched button quails...they are the size of a bumble bee..cutest little chick ever. You'll have to post a pic....
Angiebubs has a little bird...about the size of a handful...is it still that tiny ang?

My duccle are tiny but fluffy also. Carol had me hatch a serama for her last year and that was teeny...and did not make it...:(
Well I should be looking at those taxes too, but really don't feel like it. Helping the kids with their valentines and trying to read. Although do has a Star Trek movie on and it is so bad, it is distracting,
Oh we'll...gotta run out to the chickens to gt eggs and drop off some old leftovers for them. Hoping it stops dripping soon

You should see Budgie babies, eggs the size of your thumbnail. I wonder what would have caused full development but miniature size??

Yeah, I did not start my book yet.... I decided to set up my greenhouse. I had picked up my mom's old greenhouse lights so I did not have to buy any and have them all rigged up so I am ready to rock and roll! Now all I need are some seeds...... and not the special oregano variety either....

The teenagers have returned.... now if I could get the BF to go HOME.... waiting for the DH to show up and tell us how the roads are. THEN he is leaving.

The rain is still coming down.......

Holy Skating Rink Here...Just got home from C-ville..grandaughters 7th Birthday party. Just made it up the driveway and the ground where shoveled is solid ice. Glad to be home for sure.

Happy Birthday to the other half Cind....give em a kiss and hug for me!

That just sucks that the food was less than than perfection for your supper out for a change Doc. Me and Suzie prefer to stay home for that very reason...dang that's irritating.

Nothing new here. I'm glad you enjoyed the feet TO! It's all good.

I'm thinkin breakfast for supper tonight...bacon and eggs with fried taters and toast with wild grape jelly.

Stay home and safe tonight... bigz
