I forgot to ask earlier- why does one of my chicks keep having poo stick to its butt. The TSC guys last year told us that if its not cleaned off it could back up inside. I washed her in the sink last week, and yesterday and again today. Why does it keep happening , and will it stop?

Jim.... what kind of nest area do turkeys like? Nice job on the new pens! Glad you found a roo!I have a BR that is undersize too, but man can she hatch chicks!

JJ.... nice eggs! If beef tongue doesn't last long enough for a recipe... what do you do with it? Has to be cooked some how. I love my pressure cooker for anything tough.

whew! I thought nobody was going to catch the pot stirring.

we have always just boiled tongue for 3 hours, which gives everyone a chance to pass by and find out what's in the pot and when it will be done. By the time I cut the skin off, there is a crowd waiting to taste, and then it's gone.

If I keep going in the direction I'm going I'm going to need one of those grabber thingys in the reading room.

My fat pants are tight. Bl4 glad to hear the cat is feeling a little better! Cindy that pic is a bit skewed it makes Toby look twice as big as Kissy, not the case he is bigger but think it's just the angle of the shot. Yes she is sooo cute and she knows how to use it. It was very strange for all the cats yesterday they all were lovers. Their planning something big I just know it. Cool eggs JJ! Oh boy a list! Hope I made one of them. Don't care which one I just want to be included. Have often pondered how cows eat and drink when they remove their tongues? I've heard a few that I suspect that it has been done to. judge keep that chic clean think it's just it's developing digestive system that causes it. It will pass. Pun intended. Bigz I'll never be able to look at Bidden the same way ever again.

Apyl ditto on the late B'day! The weather dink says that the rest of the month will be a normal Feb. Normal is good or so I've been told. Have to chisel out around the coop door, it's that time of year. Things to do better get at em.

Yea DrH They take out the tongue just before they send it to the grocery to be turned into unharmed animal meat.

I don't think I have typed the word tongue this many times in 24 hours since cybering went out of style.

The friend lives in Canada..she shows Silkies,Houdans,ducks and geese and she posts on BYC..her user nic is Aoxa.Her name is Justine.she lost every thing, No injuries to humans thank goodness. The fire marshal thinks it was old wiring in the barn. On a better note..I took pictures this morning of the new kids

My dd6 says that one lttle chick is doing the tango...lol

JJ - nice eggs. I cant wait to start getting eggs again. I just gave my girl a light about a week ago, so hopefully soon.

Good morning--just have a few mins too...MXM is coming over and we are heading to Peggy's to get the barred rock hens so I can start getting some hatchin' eggs! Now if those quail would just start laying....then we are off to her place for some Downton Abbey!

BL4--you will really like those Black Krims--D-licious! And neat to look at too. Now the Copias...are they like a Roma shape? if they are and you get extra plants I really would like some! I saved some seeds from ours last year but I am not so good at starting seeds...if they are the same ones, my kids called them "penis" tomatoes! At the end of the tomato each one had it's own little unit! Too funny...I will have to see if they took any pics.

So I went to Menards and got my shelving yesterday to replace the metal ones in the basement that are rusting badly. Still sitting in the kitchen with both of the huge boxes from my cement garden roosters. Gotta take care of that today.

Good morning all. Beef tongue...I remember loving it as a child..my dad slicing it thinly and eating it on buttered bread sandwiches. I should buy one at the bucher shop next time and see if I like it.
Glad to hear the kitty is coming around.
I've learned a ton this morning about turkeys. I have around 50 to 75 of them...well...they're in my yard everyday ..we feed...so I claim them as mine.
Ice...I sprinkle bird seed..especially on days like yesterday...I get traction...and then the wild turkeys come and tear up the ice...keep 'em busy..and creates more traction.
I had a sad day this morning...lost my little hen parakeet. I think she was egg compacted. I've had it happen to a canary hen once years ago.
Ang...that is so sad. To much sadness and children lost lately.
I let my chickens out of the spa room yesterday afternoon....I think they enjoyed pooping everywhere in the garage...they did not venture outside..even tossed out BOSS at the edge..nope..they were having none of that cold white stuff. I'll let them back out this afternoon.
Mass this morning..then rearranging the chicks and their 3 week photos. These chicks baffle me with their feathering. Bantams must be really different then LF. I still have chicks who are just getting wing feathers...others almot feathered out.
