I am done shoveling for now..I can't pick up my arms anymore..even my arm pits hurt..

It's snowing pretty good again here too. Did I say I hate snow? It's been plowing pretty good too. Ducks and geese are having a field day in it, but the turkeys are all sitting on the front porch.

My fist set of eggs I purchased from Ebay came today! Not a single one damaged, not frozen.....wonderfully wrapped....and an all around amazing transaction!!!


I now have loaded in the incubator...warming right along at 99.5* and approaching 65% humidity....21 sultan/frizzle eggs and 3 creole old english bantams. Praying I get a decent hatch rate!!!


So very excited!! Now 3/6 I have four crested ducklings coming!!

It's still snowing off and on here too, but not nearly as much as you all have gotten! We need to do a bunny dance or something to get spring here soon!

Part of the reason I joined by was because of all the wonderfull chatty I was reading!
Overtime I googled my crazy chickies ?'s I was brought to old conversations here I've learned soooo much already. I'm gratefull to everyone who has welcomed me!

No problems... share opinions all you like! The more the merrier!

Terri - tempting, so tempting, but I better not. Got to build an environment for my duckies as is. Maybe add geese next season if I can get a predator proof enclosure up or an autodoor for a nice enclosure that will safely lock them up at night. With my work, I can't reliably open and close at dawn and dusk. I'll try out my trio of Muscovy first, see if I have success with waterfowl.

Hurley, you got anything in the incubator at the moment or are you done for awhile?

Ugh- so much snow! Yuck. DH told me one of the kittens that were born in November got killed when a cow rolled over on her. She was such a sweetie. I am not a cat person at all, but I do love kittens. Happens all the time here though. Seems like just when I start to get attached something happens. Oh well- at least her brother and sister are still here, and they are as sweet as can be.

Aww... that's sad to hear about the kitty. With barn cats they do come and go I guess.

Hurley, you got anything in the incubator at the moment or are you done for awhile?

I have 28 Iowa Blue eggs picked up from a friend in Iowa currently incubating at 10 days or so. I'm collecting for the Easter hatch, going to set everything laid until then. They aren't laying the best (stupid snow), but I've got EE olive eggs, Lavender Ameraucana eggs to make "Iowacana" EEs, Iowa Blues collecting currently and my newest IB pullets just started laying.

Have a bunch of 2 month olds in the shed growing out of the above. Will select out the best laced individuals and let the rest go. Also have a couple adult IB males if anyone needs some.

BTW - saw this on Craigslist. I sent an email to get one of the incubators, but don't have enough to buy all 3. (Wish I did, I'd take the hatcher, too!)

Still snowing here. W were supposed to get 3-5 and there is at least 6 or 7 and still coming. Chickens were not too excited to be out.
My EE is finally laying and they are neat mint green colored eggs. I need to take a picture later. Blue and green and hopefully olive and chocolate to come!

Ack! I'll be talking with DH when he gets home... I'd love to snag one of those incubators! Great price!!
