Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I left the coop locked up today-will be interesting to see how many eggs there are tonight as the cat can't get inside. With allthe comments I am second guessing if its the cat or what now.

TGIF: I can get out there and patch up the bird netting over the top, and check for any other gaps that the cat/anything else can get in. Also can watch my coop cam to see if I can figure this out.

GS, no. I have not personally had any chicken die of an intestinal worm blockage that I know of. I have seen many pics of it on BYC and elsewhere on the web, though. You could PM Dawg53 on BYC & ask him about the best way to worm your chickens. He is a chicken health encyclopedia.

As someone else stated already, you can take stool samples to your local vet and have them check it for worms before treating them. That way you will know for sure whether they need to be treated or not.

Ang, you didn't switch feed, did you? You might have a soft shell issue?

Bigfam, I can understand the lack of eggs. I don't think any of my lavs are laying right now. It's gonna be a little hard to set eggs for the Easter hatch at this rate.

and the Cheesehead thread, RBC! Glad you joined us.

Welcome Berry! You'll love it here.

Happy Friday to all. Does a foot of snow on the ground mean March came in like a lamb or lion? I'm gonna be setting Jaerhon and Wellie eggs for the Easter hatchalong, a lion-like end to the month will make me a bit nervous about brooding them in the coop. If the power goes out in the middle of the night, yipes.

I also have to say, I definitely win the award for being pregnant for the most Chicken Bashes. 2/4 now, beat that!

good day, I tried to get on here at 7 AM, but my puter was having none of it.. I just shut everything off and walked away..

still to windy/cold to work outside..

F&F has cracked corn on sale,, Not much $$$ off, but every little bit helps..

I was watching the farm market report.. the price of corn should be dropping gradually until December ,, wanna bet the feed prices won't follow suit ?? two HUGE shipments are scheduled to go to China.. I say,, let them eat rice (cakes)..

one bad thing about this warmer weather.. the deep litter in the coops is getting mushy.. I might be forced to remove a window and do some major cleaning before spring.. I will have to wait for a warmish day, because the good laying hens use the roosts all day.. and I have to remove the roosts to get to the window.

soooo, if anybody comes to visit,, please do not take offense at my dirty coops.. I have a ton of snow to move to get at my wood chip pile.. and then a ton of snow to scrape off of the pile to refresh the bottom layer of litter..

speaking of litter.. Annie had her first parakeet hatch.. It is about the size of a honey bee.. just as ugly as the cockatiels, only on a smaller scale..

Just curious......why is ok for one person to discuss their illness, but not for another?

I guess if I'm not interested in what someone has to say ill skip over it even though my fingers make it hard to do. This is an open forum is it not? Or are there specific rules that only apply to certain members?

If you were referring to my post about the worming stuff.... I was only posting those threads as a helpful source for more details and information, that's all.
I have them bookmarked so I can go back and reference them when I need to, just thought it might be useful to others as well.
