Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim-Good suggestion-think I will try that this weekend

BBP: Its either Chelsie the cat or I have a bunch of egg eaters/ But then why would theyhave left a partial egg? JJ has me thinking though; a cat eating 8 eggs a day? I have been getting 14-19 a day...then yesterday 8, and today 5 with two partials left in nestbox.
Hmmm As far a the web cams-only one of them is connected-I have to get it working this weekend. And work has a firewall set up that wont all me to view duringthe day. Thinking its time for me to use my xmas and bday money to get a notebook, Kindle Fire, Ipad or.... Researching that this weekend as well!

Sounds like every body had a very good day :) good! Thx for all the deworming advice! Do you do it once a year? I'm thinking of going the natural route... how do you know if the girls get them? Or is it a prevention thing?

Also wondering if there really a chicken that lays pink or purple eggs?

Had my 4h dog class tonight. I just LOVE♡ working with all those kids and their dogs! :) and I was super proud of my puppy! Fast learner and easy trainer! Must say, pleasant surprise considering his mix oof bulldog and dalmation!

Feed that poor kitty some cat food.

BTW Angiebubs, I'm getting a dozen black/blue/splash bantam orpington eggs to hatch. Make me stop . . .

So far this year I'm adding:
Silver pencilled rocks
LF chocolate orps
Bantam b/b/s orps
White midget turkeys
And maybe red laced white cornish
Bantam BLR wyandottes
BBP: I think that list just grew in the past hour!!! LOL and more bantys? Are you going to set them up seperately? I am still trying to decide what 4 or 5 I am going to add this year. Mike already picked out a name for one: Sarsaparilla (Which SHOULD be spelled sassparilla but not according to spellcheck/internet!)

Hi All!
I "up graded" my Firefox and I'm not happy! Instead of having a new tab open, the new tab turns into a new TILE!! You can't switch back and forth like before.

I may get it figured out, but in the meantime... no 2 tabs and responding as I read.

Of course CRS!

Angie... if a cat can go it and out of the coop.... so can something else! A skunk or rat may steal eggs and leave chickens. Chicks may not be so lucky though.

TO... glad your "hen party" went well.

DH brought home about 20 tomatoes and some other produce for the chickens so that ought to ease their "coop fever" for a few days.

Since I can't respond as I go... guess that's it.... Night All!

I agree with your assessment about*other* things getting in and out. All so if the cat is bored and has been playing with eggs, and discovering what fun they are to bat around and knock out of nests..he might be feeding the chickens too.

Cuties...

Yes..some chickens lay pink eggs

I use natural worming prevention every time I feed FF. A pre and probiotic with Organic acidic acid.
Prevention is not a *time* based event. It is part of bio security, and something you do all the time.

I and add Oregano, garlic, red pepper flakes, Dill, sage, and ground pumpkin once a month.

Things you can plant for your chickens.

Wormwood is a medium-sized bush that is said to have remarkable pest fighting properties. The chickens will pick at the leaves and will brush against it, helping
to get rid of any internal and external parasites.
Peppermint
is a creeper plant that also offers a terrific scent around the poultry yard. When planted around the coop area, the chickens will eat and walk on the leaves
assisting with internal and external parasite eradication.
Citronella
also known as lemon grass, forms large clumps of aromatic long leaves that are said to keep flies, fleas and mites away from the coop area. The chickens eat
the tips and brush against the bushes when planted close by.

Additional plants recommended for poultry pastures:
Dandelion is believed to be a stimulant to the immune system. In alternative medicine, dandelions are used to treat kidney and liver disorders of humans.
Externally dandelion is used to treat skin disorders.
Yarrow
is a medicinal herb used as an antiseptic and digestive aid. In alternative medicine, yarrow is used against colds and skin irritations.
Sage
has been held in high regard through out history for its culinary and medicinal properties. It is believed to have ‘health promoting properties.’
Nasturtium
is a ground cover creeper which has beautiful flowers. When planted near the coop area the chickens will eat the juicy leaves and succulent bright orange or
yellow flowers helping to rid them of any internal parasites.
Oregano is used for Vitamin boost, Antioxidents, Antibacterial, Minerals, and Omega 3.
Antibacterial
Comfrey has medicinal properties and a great feed for chicken and water fowl. It dries well and can be added through the winter.

My Easter hatch is going to be much smaller than I had intended. All sorts of folks that owe me eggs can't get them to me. Gggrrrr darn chickens should lay those things faster so I can have them! I think I'm only going to have Swedish flower hens, may be 6 faverolles, and may be 6 polish? But that lady has not returned my messages. What do you do when you've claimed a swap and they don't get back to you???

I may have to buy eggs at this rate! Which sucks because I've already paid pay pals after claiming swaps and have no eggs to show for it.

I'm at my job site now. For the next few weeks I'm working 9-3 which is much more manageable traffic. I also got my first paycheck. Turns out its already gone because there's not enough to pay the mortgage without it. NOT so easy come but easy go...

Jim I'm still in awe with all your organization of incubators and chicks. You still do good for a man in his 90's...

(I like stirring the pot occassionally) :D
Have a great day all!
