He is so small that he would fit in a calf hutch, so I was thinking of buying the larger hutch that can hold 2 calves and use that as a shelter inside an electric fence.

That would be a great idea!

I take my eggs to the feed store. I get $3.00 a dozen. I also pick up my egg cartons there too. I use that money to purchase my feed. I sell my eggs here for $3.50 unless they come with an egg carton. I have enough eggs to pay for my feed with plenty left over for us to eat and hatch.

My eggs are fertile..

My Blue orp is finally breeding. I checked a few of the white eggs in the bator.

Thanks guys. I know others that sell at $2 a dozen around here so that is what I have gone with. I will try to say it as gently as I can.

have a great egg and those with hatching chicks... more fluffy butt pictures needed!! Few days to first candling for easter hatch, right??

I was selling for $1.50/dozen, but last fall I told my customers that I had to raise my prices because feed went up. They didn't flinch at all. They all said they understood. Of course, I only raised to $2/dozen, so not too drastic. I deliver to a couple people on my way to work and a couple customers come to my place of work to get them, so I really don't have any "travel expenses" to speak of. Works out pretty good.

Good Morning. Not to much going on here. I'm in loackdown for the quail eggs so of course I'm impatiently watching it like crazy. The recent snow was so heavy and the rain / ice took out my netting over my coop and pen area. Go figure, I just put the flock back in the enclosure cause they were pooping all over my porch excessivly. I'm waiting for one of them to figure out the netting is down and fly over the fence. Once one goes I'm sure they all will ( except for my Pekin and silkies). I had to put Shifu into the boy pen, he was being to ruff on the mallard females. He so much larger he was hurting them and pulling the feathers out of their head and neck. And he kep attacking anyone who walked near the coop . He's not a happy camper right now. Oh well. I was tempted to make him dinner but DH wont let me. I have 10 days left on my duck hatch so I am starting to collect more duck eggs for another hatch for a friend. I've been getting 10 eggs a day so we started giving them out to friends DD wants to sell eggs , but we'll see. It will have to wait until after Spring since our road is really bad right now and only going to get worse when it thaws.

I have 3 egg customers that are all old ladies that my mother exercises with. They all would pay more, but I know they are strapped by months end. So, 2.00 is all I ask
The country bulk foods store, that is owned by Menanites, sells eggs from their chickens for 1.95, so It is hard to get more than 2.00 here.

Poor Cind! That sounds like a night from He!!. I am glad you didnt scorch the sauce though...there just is no way to get that taste out even if it is only a tiny bit burned!

So Doc, was Kissy's stomach gaping open or what? Just how much "allowance" do you give Toby?

Cind I hope your son only has the 24 hr type. We're going into day 5 of the squirts with the 3 yr old. It's not the pukes which is awful, but his poor bum!

Sure hope this stuff can't be transfered via "chicken chatter" .. now MY 3 year old has the squirts... 3 pairs of PJ's last night, 1 rug washed and soem carpet cleaned..........uugghhh......... Smells like rotovirus .. ewe... enjoy 3 - 9 days of "fun"..
