Both I & DW run small business. I'm surprised at the prices ( low ) my neighbors charge for eggs. It mirrors what I read in here.

Excuses are always the same...friends...its what others charge...what the store charges....or My favorite....their not organic.

With my business....I could write book(s) on what I have seen "organic" farmers feed & sell.
If their not organic....I want those hens. What ever they are laying has to be worth more than $1.50/dozen.

With such low prices, its why I stick with the broilers. Have 3 neighbors & friends that only charge 1.50 - 2.00/dozen.
They would have to get a lot higher, or I get more home time, before I start raising layers.

My favorite sign from 2012..... a guy/or gal...advertising "organic" firewood for sale.

Regardless how good the product is.... we all have to do some marketing

Hello again,, everybody , Ineed your help.. I have 3 orders for a total of 120 Buvv orpingtons..

and two more orders of 25 each for guineas.. the guineas I can handle, I think.. but I do not have any buff orpingtons..

but, If anyone has extra guinea eggs, I will consider taking them ..

please, don't make me have to go to usps shipped eggs..

I will go onto c list right away, though..

I got fired from my job today.. I guess I got the bar far enough along to where the guy can finish it himself.. DD#1 and I talked about that on the way home yesterday, so it was not a big surprise.
We had a hunch that he started the job, screwed it up, hired someone (me) to get him back on track , pick my brain and then go at it himself again..
actually I am kind of relieved.. I want to get my peacock pen finished soon.. I think I can have it ready in 2 good full working days.. maybe 3, because I have to build 2 doors..

I should go ahead and build another pen right after this one is finished.. I have lots of birds to isolate , and that pen is getting crowded even before I finish it..

I do not have buff Orpingtons
I only have Blue and Black English..I doubt they would pay my prices for those chicks.

Good evening! Yes Zeke some of us know each other! Way back in 2010 when I first found this site I asked if anyone got together. A few folks said they had to do trades and stuff...then the Bigzio Bash was born! (the link for this spring's bash is in my siggy) I think it is the 4th annual one! We have a really good time together! Check it out!
I too am heading to the BD swap. We are planning on leaving my house at 5:30. That should get us to the gate at opening time. Nothing much I am looking for; maybe a few button quail--I kind of miss them. We did have a little meet up last year. (or maybe it was the year before?) That is when I met Twain and MustLoveHens. It is funny when you are there...since most are from WI you would think that EVERYONE there would be on here! LOL!
I will have my Carhart jacket on and a bright orange hat...I will look for curly red hair....and?

Baby goats are continuing to do well. I will try for pictures tomorrow. I must have shagged those geese off the road at least 15 times today! Tomorrow I think I will lock them in the dooryard if I can find something to block the gate that is frozen. I am heading to Madison at 9 and really dont want a ticket! If the goslings werent so profitable for me I would dump the whole flock! They cause me so much grief! I finally got an egg from the barred rock pen today!

Maybe they will start to produce now. The woman that I got them from says that hers are all laying well even after her move. They must not like the roo I put them with I guess.

Those Blue Ams laid for a short time in January and I have not seen a blue egg since! Lazy bums! I guess my OE's will be made from my wheaton and the NN I have that lays blue eggs! At least those girls are in production! (Or maybe I should just buy the chicks from Dan or BigFam?)

Nice hat New Joe! I wanted to see you modeling it though! It remided me of when my son put my saddle cover on his head...the legs of it looked just like the ear flaps on your daughter! I am going to see if I can find that pic...BRB! Oh well, couldnt find it! Darn...it is a great picture.
