Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yeah TerriO, skunks are opertunistic eaters,, if they get the oppertunity, they will eat a chicken..

I had to loosen the puppy's colar by about 2 inches.. he is growing and now putting on some meat.
He is taller than Dora already at 7 months old..

I was ready to come onto here a little after 10PM.. but DD#1 was here and she started doing this and that with the puter,, so here I am at 1 AM,,

I am not the least bit upset about losing my job.. If the guy screws things up again,, he can call somebody else.. I just will not go back nor help him out ..

I mentioned to DD#1 that I should run an ad and build chicken coops.. she suggested building chicken tractors instead.. then I could build them here at home and deliver them.. less travel time and mileage..

I will be searching out wheel chairs for the tires.. so if you have one, you might want to lock it up if I am around.. Not mentioning any names ..

I got my woodchips for free from Asplundh tree trimmers.. they are always looking for a place to dump the chips at the end of the day.. so the closer you are to where they are working, the better chance that you might snag a load.. I had 4 loads dumped here..

I did not use too many last summer, due to the fact that Ollie was down so long.. but he is feeling up to snuff now and there will be a dent put into the piles this summer..

I have to go searching for some chicken tractor plans..

If I get time, I want to build all new cabinets for our kitchen.. and change the layout some, too..

but right now, I think I will make up an instant root beer and then hit the hay..

I had to re-log in on byc tonight,, DD#1 said it was her fault.. something she did while "fixing" things for me..

Hi All!

Welcome to the newbies!

Big Fam... Asked young son how he was this afternoon, he said he was feeling a bit better. 3 hours latter he came almost crying that it felt like his guts were ripping out! I've been giving him peppermint/ginger tea which seems to help. He did have some chicken noodle soup that he seems to have kept down. Got him some Gatoraid, the first glass didn't stay down but I think he drank it too fast. As for the runs.... he said he hasn't kept enough down to get that far lately. Don't know if that's good or bad? At least he's a big kid (22) but still hate to see him sick! I feel bad for those of you with sick little ones, that's real rough.

DrH..... Poor Kissy

If Toby popped her stitches then it should come out of his allowance! He better give her lots of kisses too!

Jim.... hope you find enough BO eggs!

Judge.... If those are Colt's kids (I think you said they are) mixed breeding makes it harder to tell, but off hand I would say your right. That one looks like "grandpa"

BigZ... congrats on the truck!

CC... Very handsome Roo....wish I had room for him.

zeke... Don't feel bad about your house.... most of us are drooling over the 160 acres!!!

I've always said "Better a shack in the woods, than a penthouse in the city!"

dcba .... Don't feel bad, most of our SO's and family think we're nuts! That's why we flock together here!

Bl4... sorry to here the cat is not doing well

GR...How's the full house going?

Never knew anyone that had a skunk take a grown chicken, what kinda of monster skunk would kill a goose? I know that the one here was taking turkey eggs, found the broken shells. After what Jim said I sure don't want one around when a hen goes broody!
Guess that's it.... Night all!

You are going to have to wait til this dam* snow melts for pics. Stella has fully regrown all her feathers and looks absolutely wonderful. Heather has taken after you and has quite the wide load herself, rivalling Hershey.

Hershey is the sweetest one I have, BTW, and not just in name. My "slow to mature" roo has the biggest keester I've ever seen on a lav, so I'm thinking of pairing him up at least with the blacks to see what I get. I'd love to get a wide load black roo for Hershey & the GLOs.

My back end looks significantly larger when I stand next to you and the tiny heiny!

yeah... How do you care for the birds with a bunch of snow on the ground??? The chair or scooter cant make it through. Or do you have special fat tires put on them to make it work?

Steve seriously can't do all the work all winter can he? Some people are such princesses... (Notice I didn't say Queen, that title is reserved for moi)

Hi I'm Chris a mom of 2 kiddos and a bunch of critters! We live in the Wausau area on a small hobby farm. I have just become a a BYC member as I recently picked up a batch of chicks that will be added to my adult flock eventually and realized I may need some help with this endeavor! It's great to hear about all your chicks and other hobbies!
Hello Chris!! Welcome to the group..!!
CC... I want to see some updated pics of Stella and Heather. YES she does have a chicken named after me.
tongue2.gif
And she is a beautiful Black/Lav split Orpington, the smartest sweetest one she has...

oh and Hershey pictures! I wonder if we put Hershey and her bottom with Deli's big bottom boy, how big could the chicken butt get?!

By blue boy is growing and growing..I wonder if he is ever going to stop. I need some updated pictures. He is still a baby. 6 months old now. My blue girl is stunning. I have some pure in my bator. I am looking forward to this hatch. All of my eggs are fertile...I have 33 for the Easter hatch..but I put 4 of the Basque eggs in early.

Good Morning! OK I'm officially PO'd about winter! Just looked at the 10 day forecast. NO CHANGE! Think we're going to go right into July.

Had to take Kissy back AGAIN! One stitch ripped out, vet said to leave it and bring her back today to check it. She's been avoiding Toby like the plague if he gets wild with her he's going to jail. Going to have to start makin notes I forget so much! Even though it's not the girls think it's spring, laying has picked up! Starting to save a few doz for my step bro and his gf. think she's paying around $5 a doz in Chitown. Too bad their not summer eggs. Snow doesn't add much flavor! So much more and it's gone. Better get movin!

Morning everyone.

Just a quick question before taking DD1 to the dentist . How long should I wait on the quail eggs? Today is day 17, with no signs of movement or anything. so I was curious how many days I should wait before giving up on them. Oh and I'm at 99 degrees with 62% humidity. Before lock down some of the eggs felt heavier , some fealt hollow / light so I'm assuming babies are in some ??

Leave them for a few more days. Your temp might be a bit low and they need the extra time to finish.

the one group of eggs should be coming out around March 26th and the others April 1st.

sun is trying to shine here currently, hoping that will help the sap run into the buckets, we have about 10 gal again waiting to be boiled down. Finished our first batch, ended up with 14.5 pints, tastes pretty good too!

back to paperwork....... have a good one!
