Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

The city of Hudson should have a link to their city ordinances. If not, the county website should. You should be able to do a search of the ordinances..... I can look for you later tonight. Right now I am at work and unable to access the information and post on BYC.

I can send you a TON of information on urban chickens if you like!

Hi all- I've been lurking but not posting for awhile, but seems like all is well for the most part.
My chicks are 7 weeks today, and I was out with them and heard a strange noise coming from the brodder. Looked in and one of the boys was crowing! Well, crowing as best as a baby can. Isn't he a little young for that? He is the one with the 3 row comb. So funny.
Have a good day all!

Ugh I had 3 link already pasted in responce to your question, then my internet timed out and I lot it all. Basically here is a news article that leads me to believe chickens are allowed considering they allow roosters as long as they are kept from crowing early in the morning. You may want to cantact the Town Board Chair Jeff Johnson to confirm this. Oh and I found this on google and dont live anywhere near there so I would confirm the info. Also there was another link I found that made it sound like you needed a 1/2 acres to have the chickens but another link made it sound like a regualr lot. Good luck.

Unfortunately the City of Hudson does not allow chickens, the town does. :-( I called the city and the best they could do is direct me to this: Current City of Hudson code § 99-8. Harboring certain animals states: C. No person shall own, harbor or keep any livestock within the City limits.

Then they transferred me to the police station to speak with the Police Chief and see what he knew... ugh WHAT!? Like he has nothing better to do?? But the woman who answered phone was SO rude!!! I mentioned what I was calling for and just asked if she could help me so I didn't have to bother the police chief. She was very cold and rude and said so matter of fact: "NO you cannot have chickens in the city." Umm yea I know. She was practically appalled that a person would even ask!

I just created a Facebook page to jump start a group of supporters...

What separates the City of Hudson from the Town of Hudson? Weird... rules. Minneapolis and St. Paul allow Chickens ( no roosters). I am close to Hudson, so guess it peaked my curiosity...
Good luck!!!

didn't you ever hear of keeping a low profile ? get the chickens, keep it as low profile as you can.. don't ask questions you do not want to hear the answers to.. and if there is an ordinance against it,, then somebody will tell you. be prepared to get rid of them,, or be prepared to fight the ordinance.. but do not ask up front.. you would be surprised what you can get away with.. then when caught,, plead ignorance .

I have a friend who moved a tavern 10 miles without any permits of any kind.. however he did get checked by the county mounties just 1/2 mile from his property.. to clear the road, they let him drag it the rest of the way home.. BTW, he just moved a pole building the same way just 2 weeks ago.. made it all the way without a hitch.. only wiped out 1 mailbox..

still early enough to make it to Menard's yet today..
