Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I wonder why he did not post his awards since he posted pictures of the birds. Someone should inform him that the rosters do not lay the dark award winning eggs either.

Good one Deli!

Just thought I would post this excerpt from a message I got from the woman that sells her eggs at the Underground Butcher. ( the link that Carol posted)

I had been wholesaling my eggs to a guy who sold at the farmer's markets, but then he got sick, so here I am with all these chickens and all these eggs. We had to get our license to sell off farm, which wasn't too big a deal, but did cost quite a bit.
We are still early into this, so I don't think either one of

So there you have it...it does cost "quite a bit" as several of you cautioned. I think I will just keep selling off the farm and work on that customer base! (small as it is!)

Now to bed! Terri O

go ahead and flag them UnkaDan,, It will make you feel so good,, and it might save someone who does not know any better from getting a raw deal..

I have 9 out and 11 to go..

my third and last ACURITE just quit today.. I hope it is just the battery, but that was not the case with the other two.. the warranty must have just expired..

TerriO, I didn't know you were writing a book about humor ..

I wonder if there will be maple syrup for the white elephant ????

No, the guy with the eggs never returned my call either.. WTH ??

Unka Dan, DD#1 brought me a large roll of opaque very heavy plastic today.. she picked it up at a rummage sale.. she might know where to get another like it.. does the color matter much ? of course, I cannot tell what color it is, but it looks greenish on the roll, but the single sheet is not real dark..

going to transfer the 5 newest chicks to the TV and then head upstairs for either ice cream,, or Miller time.. maybe both..

......jiminwisc........

going to transfer the 5

Ok, I have a couple of questions. First of all, I purchased 3 chicks from tractor supply a few weeks back. One of the chicks is a Buff Brahma. They are about 6 weeks right now, my question is, can you tell if it is a hen or rooster. Second, there doesn't seem to be any feathers growing back in the middle of its back. Any idea why?

Got to visit the ducks today, and surprise, surprise somebody had laid the first egg today!!!

I think it was Taffy, she looks like she is laying right now.... Jules feels a little on the light side right now. We let them have a few hours out to roam around and check out all the puddles and mud holes in the yard. They had a VERY good time and I bet they will sleep well tonight! We saw quite a few deer and turkeys on our trip to the in-laws and back...... oldest DS kept saying, where were all of these deer during hunting season?.... I keep telling him they are smarter than he thinks they are.... they know where to hide when to guns come out....

We came home to another little surprise.... one of the cats decided to leave a little present in our bed for us..... I just love changing the sheets 2x in one week!

Speaking of cats, I have to head over to the Vet tomorrow and get the final bill settled and pick up Runt. Another little box to join Squirrel's box.... all I have to say is that the other two better stay healthy for a long time! I can't go though this again for a while....

Anyway, I hope everyone had a lovely Easter. Time for bed here! TTFN!

JJ those are some of the worst possible chickens to call Marans,,,,,yellow legs, no leg feathering, non compliant colors, then the poster seems to want buyers to believe these birds have won egg competitions ,,,sad,,just sad someone might fall for that line of BS

I'm going to flag that ad,,,thanks for pointing it out

I always have my doubts when someone leaves off the s and says or types Maran when being an expert on Marans.

I am personally WAY WAY to cheap to ever even consider paying 45 for a rooster unless he has a twenty dollar bill rubber banded to each leg. IMHO

Around Clinton is a Family that has prize winning poultry. Maybe this guy is trying to be mistaken for them.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Congrats on all the chicks.
Had a long day today, but it was great. Served about 30 people for lunch. I love cooking and preparing, but glad it's over.
Good news yesterday here. I wanted to check if I was right about one of the hens being broody, so I waited to gather eggs until about 11pm. Well- she sat on the eggs all day, but did go up and roost, so obviously not. But- I did get a big blue egg from my wheaten Ameraucana hen! First one since August. I am hoping she keeps it up, because I think if I breed her to my Ameraucana cross rooster we could end up with some cool chicks.
Good night all!
