Hello Frenchy
The chick hatched this morning. It was very weak. Didn't open his eyes, just layed there. I went to town, and when I got back it was awake and hobbling around. It doesn't get up on its feet though. Walks on its legs with his toes curled. Any thought on if I can fix that?
You can make shoes. take a piece of tape and press the toes correctly on the tape, I have seen people use a band-aid for this also. They put a pad on the top and place a piece of tape over that connecting the two pieces of tape together.

French Toast, Welcome back, long time no hear.

My student picked up the Bantams, she is going to show them for the fair, so I know she is going to take good care of them.
I cleaned out the coop area, waiting for it to dry out, then I will reseed it. Going to pick up my chicks in a week
getting excited

Have a good day, too nice to stay in

Hey FT! Glad you're back. We were wishing we had a way to contact you. We didn't know if you were ok.

The family spent the day outside raking up leaves and sticks that had fallen over the winter and burned all leaves and small bits of sticks. The larger ones I'll try to use in the garden. The rest will be firewood for campfires. I got the garden cleared out of debris so its ready for the horse manure that I'll bring home from the farm tomorrow. I planted a wide variety of greens and herbs along the fence in the part of the run that the chickens can't get to until they are too big to get through the cracks or under the fence. I scrambled some eggs and gave them to all chickens along with ends of bread and cut up grapes. Oh they were in heaven.
I keep checking on the babies to make sure the coop is warm enough for them as the outdoor temps drop. I might have ti drop the lamp down.

Sandy you are on the chicken sh!t list for going so long without checking in!!! I will excuse it if there was another death in the family. If not, if its the too busy excuse, I say bologna. You might as well pm your phone number to people so we can check up on you when you go MIA. :p

I guess I'll also excuse your absence if you have a pirate tale to tell that involves a peg leg and booty. I didn't say WHOSE peg leg and whose booty, so if its entertaining... :D

Temp dropped too low so I adjusted the lamp lower, added a litterbox with shavings under it. Also they must have had too many changes at once because they didn't remember where food and water were located. I adjusted everything and they started eating and drinking. Ill check in an hour again to make sure the chirping has minimized.
