Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Amy the ducks are from a lady in Boulder Junction, her original stock came for Holderread Farm, 3-4 years ago. She seemed to know her stuff when I talked to her, there is also 1 Cayuga hen and a mutt. If this all works I can help you in case your hatches don't pan out.

The parents of mine were from Holderreads too. Absolutely gorgeous. I see pics of hatchery stock and they do not compare. The ducks you want most are the ones that are most elusive, eh BBP?

Guys I got a question, do you think a 6 ft. by 7 ft. coop will hold 13 chickens? I got to design a coop for my friends family and they want a coop for 13 standard sized chickens.

Hey jim that is one nice looking pen, nice size, do you already have your birds, You must have a pretty good sized yard and a real understanding misses. Nice to have the time tp pursue your hobbies. Good 4 you!!!!!!

Well, like I said I am sorry you lost your ducks. I do have a buff female but she is just stock, not show quality.

Colton, I also wanted to let you know you are NOT weird! Have you been reading what the adults post on here?????

We are all poultry nuts.

BTW, mom of 4 here.

I forgot to mention that last week I saw that the Pelicans are back on Lake Winnebago! Not sure how they managed the ice storm, but it was really nice to see they had returned! I also saw the white deer again! When those of you from the south head up for the bash; on HYW 45 just before the Cty Hwy II exit and HWY 10 exit, there is a field on the right side of the road with a woods just past it. There are 2 white whitetails that hang out with a bunch of 'regular' deer. It is such a treat to see them on my way home every once in a while. Someday I will bring my camera along and I will get a few snapshots of them..... I think it is 2 does that I am looking at, but I know I saw a buck last year so there may be more than 2....

Oh, and TO? the DH decided to look up Button Quail (just for you

). He wanted to know what they look like.

My hen house is 8 x 8 and I had 20+ in there for the winter. The more important thing in my opinion is Roost space. If there is enough rail to roost on they will be fine.

who's next with an opinion? Step up and take your turns.

Wow, gone for a day and I can't keep up.

Well, after I called and canceled my doctor appointment yesterday cause friend said the weather was going to be terrible I decided to drive down to Marion and pick up the chicks for ET's boss.

Got 7 Barred Rocks and 4 EEr's. All are 2.5 weeks old. The guy I got them from turns out had sold some pot belly pigs to a guy in Mosinee that I got two of my piggies from. So I'm sure they are relatives to his pigs.

He lives within a mile or so from the bash location. So now I know how to get to the bash as well. 80 miles one way !!

I invited him to the bash again (turns out I knew him sort of from phone calls in the past) so he might pop in if he doesn't have to work that weekend.
I'm helping ET's boss find a coop. Saw one on the side of the road south of Antigo but not big enough for his girls. I took a picture of it, will post later. So of course I started talking chickens with this guy and referred him to our cheesehead gang.
I don't know how I"m going to keep up here !!! I think someone should send out a daily PM or email with the highlights of the day so we can just catch up in one PM and no I'm not the one offering to do it !!!

Jim, that peafowl pen is great. I want one. How big is it? What are you doing for shelter for them? Did you make or buy the trusses?
I showed it to ET already !!!
The roads were just wet all of the way down to Marion yesterday. It wasn't until we got just south of Antigo on the way home that the the weather started to get bad. By the time we got home at 9:30pm I could hardly see in front of the van. Boy am I tired today !!! Guess all of the driving in the weather wore me out.

We missed out on the pay in advance get a discount for our propane. I didn't know they offered that until two years ago and then when I called I couldn't get it, I missed the deadline. And of course because I hadn't been on the plan last summer when I called (because they don't send anything to the people not on the plan) I missed the sign up date !!!! AGAIN !! Although with ET being laid off we couldn't have afforded to pay for the whole year anyway.
We've been here 6 yrs and have never run out... like I said my short term memory is going down hill fast. Seriously !!!! Don't now what ET's excuse is for not checking on it ??? Geez.
They had to send someone up here (they weren't in the area) in January so they had to charge the fee. I understood that... Didn't like to have to pay it but it is only fair.
Yesterday the guy was here within a half hour because he was in the area (thank goodness) so they didn't charge. The driver must have been in a bad mood or ??? Or hates women ??? LOL He was real nice to hubby when he got here !!
Just like horses, 5% carry 90% of the worms or something like that !!!
I'm not going to worry about it. I got my gas, they got there money. I didn't demand that they come here imediately or even the same day either time.... so no biggy. If they didn't want the money or my business all they would have to said was we can't deliver soon and I'd look for a new place but they have always been good to us so I don't think I"m one of their 5%... yet !!!! LOL

Ok, by now I'm sure I have more reading to catch up on. Oh and aren't you all proud? I didn't come home with any chicks for myself !!!
