Good luck with what ever you do. Maybe they just need alittle more time settling in. Hows the inquary with the chicks and momma at the fair?

Went to the Dodge county fair tonight. Just me and my girls, I took 80 bucks and told them we would leave when it was gone. They went on a bunch of rides and played games. Bought them sno-cones and went home. They had a blast. They finally went to bed after running around like idiots for the past hour. To much sugar and fun. It brings a smile to my face just thinking about it. Looked at all the chickens and ducks, there weren't may good one's there. There were a bunch of chicks for sale but none that I wanted. Well off to bed, busy day tomorrow. DH is turning 35. Oh that reminds me I better got out the walker.

BeckysChicks, you managed to take 4 kids and yourself to the fair and you only spent $80????? I think I need to attend other fairs! Ours wants $6 admission (and once you are in you cannot leave and enter again without paying again), then $14 for each wristband. I would be out $86...... I CAN purchase an unlimited ride ticket with full admission pass for the entire fair for $50; but when Bay Beach is only 45 min away I cannot justify spending that kind of money...... season passes are $18 if purchased early, but that is still $108....

I was once again reminded tonight how lucky I am to have quit my job when I did...... I feel sorry for the people who are stuck there.

Good Morning Everyone! Nice cool start to the day. BL4 can relate to the stuck there. Your a pickle packin momma! H&R congrats on the good hatch! Annarie kudo's on all the DS's ribbons! TO hope you find Mayo soon!

It sucks not knowing! Yes I slept in till almost 6:15 and a little after 6 this morning gee maybe it's a trend. Bigz don't cha just love it! I find myself wanting to do something with all the overflow but no room at the inn. So it all goes to others. Canning the salsa and spaget sauce this morning L didn't finish adjusting it till last night. Then I get to take a road trip with the tractor. Taking it to a guy I used to work with to add the angle iron to the bottom of the blade for strength and as a wear plate. About a 7 mile ride one way. Head out on the highway. Lookin for adventure. Born to be wiiillld! Buster is trying to crow this morning.

Great DrH--now I have THAT song in my head! My inside birdies are loving the sunshine this morning. The quail comes to my hand now. I almost can get her to step up! She is the most adorable thing ever...well, maybe a close second (please come home Stuart!)
Great way to take kids to the fair Becky. Our fair used to be really fun like that too. Now we got this "marketing" guy that is trying to have it be profitable for the county. Everything is sponsored by someone and there is advertising all over the place. We used to go and just let our kids run wild on the midway for a night. If I had little ones now I wouldnt feel safe doing that. It is more the state fair atmosphere now.

I seem to have made a decision on my tomatoes...if you let them sit too long in this heat they get to be fed to chickens! With everything that has been going on I have had no time to deal with them; probably should have popped them in the freezer whole but...maybe a few will be OK for today.

Thanks for that link to the Mad City Chicken Coop Tour! I am definitely going on it! I move my daughter into the UW that day so will be in Madison. I hope her move in doesnt take FOREVER like my other daughter's did! I am excited to see little coops...maybe I can get some ideas for segregating some of my poultry next year.

Have a great day ALL! Terri O

(PS) to Becky's DH--happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you......(oh to be 35 again!)

Looks to be a nice morning again, just finished cutting up a kettle full of tomatos to freeze for chili making later on. Found 2 timy pullet eggs yesterday in the pen with all the girls so DH will be making up a nesting box or two today.

Here are pictures of the Welsummer babies, we have 5 girls and 2 boys:

Haven't heard anything yet. One of the other 4-H families said she knows the owner and he thinks they may not be purebred - but that's a bunch of baloney, they're definately all Cochin, they have perfectly feathered feet, fluffy little butts, they're the correct shape (better than the Blue and Black Cochin chicks I hatched myself last year!)...plus, daddy rooster must have been a blue to get the B/B/S chicks - and there's no other breed that comes in blue that I can think of that would produce chicks that look so Cochin-y.

Anyways, hoping to run into the owner tonight when the exhibits are released. If he thinks they're cross-bred, maybe he'll give me some to raise up and see!

Lost one of the duck eggs in the incubator during the power outage - it was in lockdown, ready to hatch today or tomorrow.

They were stone-cold by the time I remembered them - two still kicking in there though.

Hens and Roos - Those Welsummer chicks are SO cute! Congrats!

Very good hot afternoon all! TO Born to be Wiiild! Got back a little bit ago from my road trip. The lil mule dun good! She's ready to push dare I say it? Snow! Waved at everyone and 95% waved back. Hair was nearly blowin in the wind and almost had bugs in my teeth really took me back to my HD days. Sure do miss that bike! See the Pack won one last night will have to watch a rerun to see the details. Saw the first 2 touchdowns. All the jars sealed and will join the rest on the shelf of pride and good eats. It just blows my tiny mind how people can just eat the crap from the store shelves and think it tastes good. I pity the fools! Have to get the kids fresh water and wrap up most of the loaves of banana bread that L made yesterday for the freezer. Yummie!

Bigz I just came in from taking time out to sit at the meeting table. It was mind blowing! Bob was there nuzzling me rubbing his face on mine giving out as much affection that fell just short of breaking something. My girls were mostly on the table talking back and B was B ing. Surprise! I looked over at the garden still producing beautiful, delishious, and nutrious food and thought to myself how could this possibly get any better? Then Laura came out and I broke down and cried. She asked and I told her how much I loved her.
