Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Judge, as far as the ducks go my two pekins have stayed with this batch if chicks two months so far. The ducks stayed away from the lamp much sooner than the chicks and seemed to get hot much easier. Not an expert here, but my guess from observation was that they liked it a little cooler than the chicks did.

Judge ~ I removed the heat lamp at 2 weeks old and booted them outside last week. My oldest ducklings are now 5 weeks old. My youngest ducklings are 3 weeks old and havent had the heat lamp in at about 2 weeks.

Well I kicked the chicks outside :) So now all I have indoors in the 2 turkey poults , 2 goslings, and 2 ducklings. As soon as the geese and ducks get some feathers in they will be booted outside. I've been putting them outside during the day once it warmed up over the weekend and boy they are lovin it. I converted my rooster pen into a chick pen for now just so I could get these chicks out. They were driving me crazy with the picking they were doing to the polish. I'm crossing my fingers it was due to boredum or lack of room. Being outside all day I didnt see any issues with the picking so hopefully everything will go ok.

Well thats about it , good night every one .

Busy day today in the yard..tons of stuff to do.I might be done raking by next month.

My chives are up and my ...I forgot what these are called..but they are peeking up. (ant collectors)Peonies?

Judge, if you can tell me how to move them you can have mine. I do not really like them. I tried to give some to my mom last year. They died. Im normally good with flowers lol. Are you going to the bash? I think hubby might be talked into it...maybe.

I have been trying to tell these people for a long time that head cheese is awesome, IF you know someone who knows how to make it properly. Unlike the OM crap, it's not made with snips & snails &..............

.......you know. It is up to the people making it that determines what goes into it. I like brussel sprouts too!
my father in law used to make headcheese from scratch. I found it to be very good. So I m just fine with those of you who cant get past the thought of eating it.[ its way better than you think it might be] More for me. H ave you ever tried cow tongue ? Its really good as well. you bring it I ll eat it.

Good morning to all! LOTS to read through today for sure.
HEADCHEESE! I had forgotten CC! I will have to go to that Bavarian butcher place my client got his from...God I loved that stuff! I might call the son and find out where it is and bring some for sampling to the bash. I really miss that guy!

Ooohhhhh! The Bavarian kind is the best! Lots of paprika. Yum! Yes, please do bring some. I can go in on it with you if you want. I wish DHs aunt & uncle would have taught him how to make that stuff along with the sausage.

He found 2 packages of it down in our freezer, but his aunt packaged them very poorly & they were really freezer burnt.

The chickens enjoyed it greatly............. grumble, grumble......

Ok, I've officially had it now. Guess I'm still too sick to have recovered my patience, so I better just go to bed. I hope everyone got to enjoy the weather today. It started out awfully gloomy down here but the sun finally came out & it got really nice. Still pretty muddy & soggy in a lot of spots, but I managed to get a ton of branches picked up around the yard. Sweet dreams, all!

Not a bad idea.....I would have to figure out how to get them from the coop to the kennel.... . I think I will post a few pics of what I have to get some ideas from you all.
If you carried them a few time and gave them a little scratch when you got them there it won t be long and they will beat you to the kennel looking for the easy pickens!!!!!! my will follow me anywere if i have the scoop in my hand. Good luck Zeke

Cuties, I think a lot of things died last year, mostly due to the drought. Peonies aren't any more difficult than digging out any other plant. I have a few of them too & really don't care much for them. As Del said, ant collectors.

Zeke, funny you should mention tongue. The last time we talked about head cheese, we talked about tongue too. Was it JJ who said his whole family loved it? Can't remember.

I've never tried it.

Ok, now I'm going to bed. After I feed the cats, and make DHs lunch for tomorrow, and, and...........
