Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ok so my youngest DD and I went out to take pics of my polish and a few others. Of course I took 2 pics of the same chicks thinking they were different lol so only one of my white cresteds got its pic taken.

1. These are the 2 Brown laced polish.

2. These are the 1 White crested ( on the left) and a Sultan

3. 2 Mottled Houdans

Oh and just for the heck of it, boy the turkeys are growing fast. I swear they are about 2 pounds each if not more.

Ok looking for your opinions. IF you were looking to add some fruit trees based on ease of care, bugs and soonest fruit, quantity...what woudl you add? DH wants to add some more fruit trees to our mini orchard ( we have 3 apple, 4 pear, 2 peach and 4 plum). Seperate area has blueberries and cherries and then there is my berry patch. Not sure if Kiwi will ever survive good...but we keep trying.

so anyway... I told him it would be a win win if he bought me some for my bday. what would you add for our region?

You have a nice variety :) How about a cherry tree, not sure how fast they mature i just like cherries ;)

Good morning! I know I had lots to say...congrats on the house CS! That is great news. I love that you remade an old building Lisa. And dont be afraid to post! I love reading about people's days...even if it is trivial! Cind I dont know what I said I was going to make...it must have turned out good though! JJ post pics please! THe no weeds part has me intrigued for sure! Apyl I am thinking that Mallards have hatched babies outside for a really long time now...I wouldnt worry about her or the eggs getting cold! The only thing that would worry me is that a raccoon could come and eat her up! THey seem to know just about when the eggs will hatch...bast@rds! And no, I have caught nothing in my traps using chicken, eggs and (yes Dan) even bread! Whatever the critter was, it hasnt been back. I hope it stays away! We have a sand point well here too. It is 15' deep. After we replaced the jet pump it was too much for the pipe to the house and it blew up! We had a geyser in the yard! Of course the plumber couldnt fix the pipe cause the well is in a pit and they are no longer "legal" in this county. So we had to pound a new well which is 185' deep! We didnt abandon the sand point well though...that is the water for the barn and it is better than the deep well for sure! Well, the outdoors calls. I am the mom of a 4 and 5 year old for 24 hours starting at 1 so I guess I better finish up with the skid loader before they get here~ Have a great day! TerriOwonderingwheretherainisbutcertainlyNOTcomplaining OK, this is not submitting! After all this typing it is telling me to "enter something before hitting SUBMIT" Stupid computer!

Good morning everyone!
Lmiller- I am a mother again this morning too!
Here are my chantecler chicks. One hatched a few minutes ago- and one hatched yesterday. I will get a picture of my bantam ameraucana later-

So the hatch is done- 2 chanteclers, and 1 bantam ameraucana. Not a very good hatch rate, but I'll take it!

Paw paw tree has edible sweet fruit and grows in my region (but I'm not sure what your region is, I'm south of you by a bit), Meyer lemon, key lime, peach, orange, tangelo (these last 5 grow to zone 4), plum and olive.

To - Thanks !

Judge & Lmiller - cute babies congrats.

Well I guess I should get off my butt, the house needs cleaning ! I skipped yesterday and with 5 people (and critters) in 900 sqr ft it gets pretty bad. Hope everyone has a nice day !

L Miller ~~ awesome coop. My Hubby is in the midst of refurbing an older building to give me a bigger coop. For my expanding habbit..:)

Angie ~ What a small world! I find it quit funny embarassing my children. They are there for our entertainment, right? and to totally abuse with OMG>. CHORES!!! aaaaahhhhhh

Chicks are sooooo ready to be outside. My 3 year old was soo sad last night and cried because they are not "wittle" any more. He wanted them to stay tiny. :) he is so funny. Their outside playtime will have to wait for the latest winter storm warning to pass through ...........uuuggghhhh. I saw a winter storm warning and a Pollen alert on the same day!!! Really????

I have been letting my girls out to free range, they LOVE it!! My 2 labs seem to ignore them unless I am by the chickens. Then I can't really tell if Bella is trying to herd them for me or get a snack. She is being a good girl, but I think I will keep a close eye. The other one totally ignores them unless they flap their wings... then, kinda game on. but the chickens win.

Have a great May Day everyone. I transplanted some flowers and shrubs last night, just in time for the snow!
