I think Jim was talking about me-Colton met me and hasn't been back online since Hmmmmm

JJ: Crack me up! And I agree try the "I just ordered 100 new chicks!" that should do it!

Judge: I have bantys and LF mixed together....however, they were always raised with LF chicks and introduced to flock with the LF at the same time. I have one hen (A GL Wyndotte) that thinks its her mission to chase the bantys whenever they pop out of the nestbox broodiness long enough to eat.

yup, correct scenerio, wrong person.. my bad.. you didn't accuse him of anything, did you ? or try to hook him up with DD ? that's enough to scare off even the most stout hearted..

What are you using for a hatcher?

I used a Farm Inovators still air, but put the fan in it for circulation. Worked well for me once the wonky temperature stabilized, the humidity and temp stayed very constant. Of course the guages on the front aren't accurate, so I used a digital meat thermomiter poked through.

I have a 2nd LG still air for the hatcher. Same setup as for incubating, except the bator has a turner. I use a AccuRite therm/humidity gauge in both. Would it be worth it to add fans to each, or just start looking for a better bator?

LOL nope jsut walked up to him and introduced myself. It was funny because there was a live chicken running around at the school track and he was over there...thats how my DD connected him with BYC when she heard his name. Even still funny coincidence he hasnt been back since, huh?

I am hardly and expert, lol, first hatch and all...but since they are developing fine I would worry more about the hatcher. The fan worked well for me and helps distribute even temperature throughout. I had the newb problem with not keeping my hands out of the incubator during lockdown as well. I kept an eye on the humidity and added and removed plugs as necessary to keep it around 55-65%. Im incubating at pretty much room humidity which got really high last week at almost 70% after the rain. Usually it runs more like 40%.

I am going to save my chicken money for a sweet incubator. I find all these foam ones "sketchy" at best. Too much chance for a major catastrophy.

You think Colton's mom got freaked out because someone from the 'internet' recognized him in person? That is pretty mom-like behavior, and might have set me back a little myself. It wouldn't bother me so much being a lady that said hi, but then my mind would travel down all the 'what if' roads that lead to bad places. Like if she found my kid, then maybe some creepy child molesting murderer monster could too...those roads. Well, hopefully he comes back. He seemed like a nice kid.

Lisa

nope, you just don't ground chicken kids.. He's prolly up to his elbows in dirty diapers..

Lisa M makes a good point..

I have met grown up women who I bought/sold chickens to.. we met at a McDonald's initially.. their choice.. and thereafter, after meeting me in person always INSISTED on a McDonald's meeting.. I think it was because I always picked up the tab ? IDK...

Colton will be back......... lisa and jim have good points......and remember some of last weeks wheather was pretty nice.....he seems like a kid that would be outside playing until supper time...HW...bedtime......

Heather and JJ you two crack me up........
