Thanks for letting me vent, guys. And I completely understand frustrations w/ppl not showing up and backign out. Happens to me all the time w/raising rabbits. But we were in heavy contact, I guaranteed I would buy them (for whatever THAT'S worth), told her she could hold me to it, PM's her again when I got on the pc after work lastnight at 11:30PM, Sent her ANOTHER message at 4:15 this morning to say we are getting ready to head out the door, see you in a few hours! Thanks, again! And even after me confirming I was on my way, she STILL did that to me. That's why I'm mad. Not about her having the no holds policy, not about her having the 1st come 1st served policy. She sold them out from under me within the 3+ hour drive time it took me to get there even tho I contacted her to say we're on the way. And she did see it and replied back saying that they're loading up, too.

Oh, well. Lesson learned. I will never buy from her again. I will take and post pics maybe tomorrow. Rightnow I'm gonna make supper and laze around and watch a movie and go to bed early. I am one tired chick...!

Now, here's a picture that only gardeners would appreciate.. Nephew was here and loaded 10 buckets and I drove the tractor.. take your fingernail and scratch the picture.. it is so fresh you will be able to smell it..

we got both coops cleaned .. despite the cold and that four letter word.. S--w..

Psyco, you are 1 in a 100.. that is the ratio of people who do actually show up for a promised meeting.. I have had someone call me while they were leaving Fleet & Farm , just 7 miles from me, and said they were on their way.. they never showed.. that is the type of people who spoil it for the 1% .. Now, if I get a no show, or they do not show up on time,, their choice of time and place,, I go to town,, even if I had not planned on leaving.. If they show up late, tough sh!t.. I was here , now I'm not.. You will soon develope this same attitude,,

pork roast, mashed taters and home grown corn from the freezer is all ready,, I am going up for supper..

Got another GF banana bread in the oven...figured of I was gonna bake potatoes I might as well do some more bread! My timer is really quiet even with new batteries...I need to stay close!

Better get some veggies goin'. Maybe some sparagus with Hollandaise? MMMMM!

the weather here is exactly like what Jim has in his bucket,,,'nough said

psyco consider yourself lucky, that seller has very questionable birds, pretty sure of whom you speak, I see her ads and know of her facebook page,,, anyone that I know that has done business with her has learned the hard way. You learned a lesson and now have time to get your coops built,,,

My ducks have been enjoying the weather and the free range, pita to get them headed home at night, the chicks are all doing fine, turkey eggs go to the hatcher tomorrow

I take the proactive approach with predators, feed them lead and bait in the traps, so far it has worked but realize at some point with free range birds I will have some losses

I have good luck with CL, if someone wants a big order I ask for a deposit seems to work well, have sold 75 chicks and a few dozen hatching eggs only had one gal that delayed a meet for chicks, she was sick but kept in touch eventually it worked out

I also have a lawnmower that doesn't run smooth, and a ranger that needs the pressure line for the power steering replaced...I think ross would be in heaven here on the hill (just kidding)....I know you guys have a full schedule...whenever works for me. Stinky beef on the grill with baked spuds and ho-made baked beans. Good beef, but venzun is way superior to the caged/penned animals, in my opinion.

A couple of nights ago during a rain I was lookin out the windows and in the 3 acre hay field behind the barn stood 23 deer gulpin down that fresh spring hay faster than in can grow,,, Last night did a head count on the farm.. 31 total This happens in spring on occasion but not usually in this great of numbers.. Good thing cause I m going to have to put some venison in the freezer cause 2 nights ago a mink or a weasel got into my coop and all He!! broke loose.

7 hens and my last LF roo D.O.A. Down to 6 hens and old rusty, a bantam roo that doesn t know he s a bantam...... Going to F F today to get some wire small wire,,, see what I can do I ve had chickens on this farm for 20 yrs and this is the first time I ve had to deal with this.. I m not sure witch is worse. Having birds just disappear or walking in a coop to find that kind of a mess all at once....

Go in to build some tighter pens,,,Good thing I ve got those 50 chicks coming up.. I was going to sell a few of them,,,, might just have to keep em now..
On a brighter note the lilacs r gettin ready to bloom,,, [Spring is hear,!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I think] I order 2 honey bee hives and they should be here next wknd. Just in time for all the flowers.. Sure hope I have better luck with bees than I do with chickens

All that being said I still feel blessed .. Better days ahead......... right?

Oh those darned weasels/mink/ermine!! They can squeeze through a tight space and do a lot of damage in short order! A fine mesh hardware cloth should do the trick. I could almost smell the lilacs until it began to SNOW here. UGH!
