As far as your mom and chicks go..they might be ready to just take them around the rest of the group before the move. All situations are different. You have a wonderful set up. Most mom keep the chicks in the nest for a few days and than take them out. They usually do not return to the nest.


My muscovy has 6 ducklings hatched so far and my leghorn has 3 Orpingtons hatched so far. I will have a ton of baby's soon all over the place.

I feel so bad, we have had nothing but sunshine the whole trip..... we are hoping for some storms at some point....

Yah, sure! You could have taken some of this along with you so you wouldn't feel homesick.

It looks like poor Michelle isn't going to make it.

She still drinks a little but she doesn't move much at all and sleeps a lot. I think she'll go into a deep sleep soon - she doesn't seem to be in any pain.

The rest of the scalawags have been playing in "traffic" lately. They're finding something intriguing about the blacktop road and they're determined to check out every inch of it. I called them back several times and the neighbor shooshed them back once. (Then they tried to follow her back home again!). Their free ranging circle just keeps getting wider and wider. These chickens are taking crossing the road to a whole new level.

OMWord I hated the mountain roads. the driver is like "what are you freaking out about?" and the passenger is ready to crawl in the trunk (floor of the motor home in BL4 case) cause all they can see is the bottom of the mountain off a cliff, can't even see the white line heck ANY of the road! lol make me hyperventilate just thinking about it lol Good luck BL4

Oh, I forgot to ask what battery chickens are.

When your rooster gets old and lazy,,,you use battery chicks to jump start him... thats what i was told

update,, 6 barocks, now.. boy are they big chicks,, almost as large as the turkeys at hatch ..

Good news on those barochs,, And you were'nt kidden about the size of those eggs. I was tellin Kath [my wife] that those are the biggest eggs I think I ve ever seen.. I hope to get a nice hatch out of those badboys, 15 more days to go.. How ever I have a little problem and I'm not sure what to do, you see the eggs I got from Jim keep moving over and snuggling up to the eggs I got from Robin..when I'm not lookin.....Not sure what that means...

Cuties-the underwriters just got verbal verification of my husbands employment

I am not sure why the underwriters are so knit-picky, they already had employment verification on paper 2 weeks ago! This is the slowest process that I've ever been a part of. The lady at the mortgage company hopes that we will get the "clear to close" today, then the attorneys will schedule the closing. I have never bought a house, so this process is really frustrating to me as the mortgage company is not helpful in explaining anything or following up on anything, I've always been the catalyst for them to inquire about the progress!

Congrats on your new house... I have bought and sold several houses in my life,, and the one thing I can tell you when it comes to closing is not will somthing go wrong but when will something go wrong!! something always does.. Remember the more you want something the harder it seems to wait to get it.... Good luck

Short class tonight. We did a grooming demo. So all the kids came at once. Im ok with that. Syd played a game last night. She is doing amazing! It was raini g the whole time! No complaints out of her spent lots of time with the chickies when I got ho me. I just love sitting out there.
