Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Evening All...You can administer the tylan orally...just a small amount dribbled into their mouth. Draw out with the syringe and place in a eye dropper to administer prolly .25 ml.. not a lot goes along way. I wonder why H&R dumped us?

I've been looking at the mantis too. It would sure save a lot of hoeing. It reminds me of a sermon not long ago when the preacher said it's ok to pray for a good harvest...but...keep hoeing!

Sorry to hear about more kitty problems CC...Dang...it's never just a couple pills and then your good to go...is it...

Nice pics ...thanks for sharing. Welcome home bl4....what was the total gas bill? just wondering...I was thinking close to 2k...how close was I?

Stay Safe....bigz

Ah.... so good to be back home on my own bed!!!!

Where to start!

BigFam: so sorry Pickle escaped on you..... I have had many a close call with my oldest, starting when she was 2 1/2! Thankfully we had a neighbor who managed to catch the little buggar every time she escaped from our apartment. Good luck keeping tabs on your baby, it can be challenging for certain.

CC, I am so sorry. I do understand what you are going through......

Frenchie, good luck with the Cpap; my DH has one and he hates it (looks like a jet pilot with the mask on).

So sorry about the losses while I was away....

TO, thanks for posting pics of my babies! Caitlin will enjoy seeing her duckies.

Call ducks ROCK! So sorry I had to move mine to the in-laws.....

Tomorrow we get to clean the camper. 3000 miles of bug guts off the front grill....... yum. Laundry, laundry, laundry, and finally I will be able to eat decent FRESH food and have COFFEE....... more than one cup worth!

Time for bed..... finally in my own bed where I can stretch out and not have my toes hang off the bottom.

Yes Welcome Home Mel! I admire that you could spend that much time with the fam and come home sane...and with everyone still living too! I am glad that you had a better trip than some friends that were in Sioux City the very same day as you guys...she ended up in the hospital 2x! Then had to remain another night but Hubby had to be back at work on Monday...I dont know how the story ends...I will have to check FB.

The grossest thing...I was sweeping the floor just before the kids' Mom came and I thought I swept up 2 black beans...you guessed it--totally swollen TICKS! I dont know which dog they fell off of...I am suspecting Mattie but I checked her every day since getting home. I hope both were wood ticks...they didnt look at all like a big kernel of corn...that is how they looked to me when our dogs would get one when I was a kid. I could have sworn they were black beans...with legs!

And with that thought, the cold meds seem to be kicking in so I am off to bed! I sound like Frenchie now!
I had something to say to Kim too....but it's gone!
Sleep well! TerriO

Cind!

Good Night TO !!! Good Morning Cind !! lol

CC, Wish there was something I could say or do for you.... I know how sad it is, especially for us that have furry and feathered kids. I went through a few bad years when my three poodles (sisters) all passed away every year. Then my chiuahua (sp) bichon mix..... buttons former best friend. Then my cat after that. I always try to remember what my Dad said when we were kids and lost our cat. He said it hurts so bad losing them that you don't want to get another but you have to look back and see how much joy they brought you.... no matter if it was long enough or not...

On the call duck front I almost lost my snowy call duck drake today. He is a little stinker and him and his wifey poo keep sneaking out of the pen under the fence... I know need to fix it but they stick around, when she isn't sitting on her nest.
Anyway, we let all three big dogs run loose today at the same time. The two Great Pyrenees and the chocolate lab. They took off into the woods as usual but don't go far. Rex the GP male came home first then I said to ET I'm going to go get the mail and just check to make sure the other two stooges didn't go to the neighbors.... Came home 5 minutes later and her comes River running with my call drake in her mouth.... Of course I start yelling and swearing at her and hopped on ET's atv (cause mine isn't running).... He was dangling out of her mouth so I thought for sure he was dead. ... Then she dropped him and he ran for cover under the ATV !!!! He was all wet from dog spit and I saw where they must have tackled him to the ground....
I checked him all over and he didn't have a scratch on him.... Put him back in the pen and checked on him a bunch of times and he's ok.... keeping my fingers crossed that he doesn't have any internal injuries.
Between those to girls I don't know who caught him.... could have been the chocolate lab Reba but River the GP has killed a few birds in her day.... She loves the goats and plays with them but I think she thinks the chickens and now ducks are toys..... Reba the lab on the other hand..... who knows what the h3ll she thinks.... if she does at all.
So other then a hollering at while we were chasing her with the duck in her mouth she didn't get spanked or anything.... I was just so happy he was alright. Guess I make sure he is penned up before they are let loose to play !!!

Sorry to hear so many of you guys are having sick chicks & chickens. I was going to suggest gape worm like VickyW said too. I'm not sure Mareks disease would show up that quickly in the chick that wasn't eating or walking well. I think it takes a while for the virus to develop the tumors that cause the lameness but I've been wrong before.... once !!!! lol

Got some more of the garden planted.... Hey Jim.... I planted 31 brussel sprout plants. We bought 4 packs of 4 and each cell had 2 plants except one....= 31 plants. Got them at the hardware store in Crandon. I think we bought the last ones they had but Schaefers Grocery Stores Greenhouse had them but they were a lot smaller, not that ours were huge or anything.
To bad I didn't know you were looking or I would have picked some up for you. Not sure when I'm going to Crandon cause tomorrow I go to Weston to pulm doc and Friday I have to go volunteer at the Spay Clinic in Rhinelander...... They didn't have enough people sign up for Crandon so they cancelled Crandons clinic...... ticks me off cause I know there are dogs and cats to be done....like the woman with the pups for instance !!!! GRRRRrrrrrr !!!

Hopefully tomorrow when we get back we can plant some more.... Our garden is huge but so far we have tons of tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, brussel sprouts, onions (3 colors) and cilantro planted. And a Stevia plant !!! I actually bit and chewed one of the leaves and it was real sweet !!! Cool.

Ok, got to go look up where I have to go tomorrow.

Oh and welcome home Bl4.... so are you gonna buy one of those campers now ???

Hi All!

DrH....Congrats on the nickle!

JIm... brussels sprouts seem hard to find, I got the last 3 packs in all of Burlington! Came out to about 15 plants if I can keep them all alive. When you split them it can be iffy.

Wow, sounds like you got some big stones! LOL

BL4.... Welcome Home!

OH CC... That Sucks big time!

TO.....That is one Lucky Ducking! Cute little fuzzballs and a good hatch for calls!

FT... Sounds like you have a doctor mess! I'm sure it's extra hard being way up there where doctors are thin and specialist even thinner! Sounds like a great large garden, hope you can keep up with it!

As far as chicken illness goes.... I'm of no help but I'm taking notes!

As far as incubators goes...My broody hens have about a 95% hatch rate and all I have to do is provide them with a nice quiet place to do it!

I let the little ones (the BLRW) I got Delish out today. Thought they would stay together.... guess not! I wish Storky would let them run with hers and take care of them. Tried earlier on and she wouldn't
sad.png
She is a real good mom though. She still tries to tuck them under he wings at night.... they are about half as big as her!
lol.png

Young son went fishing today and brought home 8 sunfish and a bass. Not waiting 'till Fri for the feast! FF Wednesday!!

Crazy busy around here, "gives new meaning to running like a chicken with the head cut off"!

Kids finished school and soccer games last week and we have had 5 units to either put back together(3 of them) or just touch up(2 of them). Never ending but it's job security!

DD and DS(8) are playing softball/baseball this summer so that has been over lapping with the end of soccer. Had several graduation parties to go to- one was our neighbor's so of course stuff we needed to get done at home this past weekend couldn't(didn't think we should process chickens while their party was going on
lau.gif
)

Of course with all the storms/change in pressure going on- our Aussie has been a basket case pretty much and was keeping some of us up at night..... wishing the storms would stop
barnie.gif
, DH had to repair the crate where she broke it!

Sorry to hear about the sick chicks, and the losses of other pets
hugs.gif
hugs.gif

We started up our incubator again.... DD lost her Welsummer rooster back in April so we had to outsource for some hatching eggs and about the time they arrive our peahen started laying SO we now have 7 pea eggs cooking in the bator, 2 more sitting on the counter as well might need to add them in and of the few I checked 3 are developing
wee.gif
maybe by the end of the month we will be successful on hatching some peas! Told DH I will start up our smaller bator and hatch the Wellie chicks in there as they will hatch before the peas do.

Our garden only has a few items in it so far, maybe this weekend we can finish planting........

Hope the storms today aren't too bad- stay safe

Best get a move on the day- back into town to finish out a unit- nice thing is, this one looks like it will be rented too! Leaves maybe 1 unit to get re-rented!

Good Wet Morning! Whew so much going on! Vic gotta love the KFC pic. BL4 glad your home safe! Sorry to hear about the sick chix! CC so sorry about more kitty probs
hugs.gif

Got the coop cleaned out yesterday. And as usual got tore a new one because there wasn't any material in the nest boxes when there was SUPPOSED to be. WOW! But they are much happier now. Got the pot holes filled in in the driveway, trimmed the shrubs along the drive, re-seeded and weeded the garden, and few million other things. Was thinking of going Nort today but will wait till tomorrow. Decided to pre cut the deck material here and pound it together up there, what could possibly go wrong? Need to take care of the rubybarbie today too. Gassed up the spare tire for the camper hope it's still holding air.

Don't know the H is going on with this site or my settings but it's really Peein me off! Better get movin.
