I finally got the backyard secure - no escapees today. I found 3 eggs in the favorite coop nest when I let them out today - I expected 5 or 6 more in the backyard or in the nest box in the chicken tractor but I only got 1 out there under some lilac bushes. I usually let them run free(er) for awhile before locking them up in the coop at night unless they head for the garden.

As they all went inside to roost I noticed Eleanor Rigby was missing. She never made it from the backyard to the coop area. I walked back towards the yard and heard her soft cheeping from under a big holly bush. After searching the prickly thing for quite awhile I finally located her. She had a nest under there with several eggs in it already and she really struggled to stay put. I got the old eggs out and she laid a new one there before happily making her way to the roost. I just KNEW she and Michelle were hiding their eggs somewhere all that time!

Meanwhile, back in the coop, I found 4 very warm eggs in the nest. These girls like that nest so much they must have run to it with their legs crossed when I let them out! Silly little stinkers!

The store was busy today so I didn't get much done in the garden. The first plot is getting close to the end. I'm anxious to get that sweet corn in asap!

One dead chickie this morning. Improvement. That's 9 total I think. More good news, my chocolate pullet seem perkier. Same with my BLRW. So that makes me happy. However, I can only find one chocolate orp roo. That makes me very nervous CC.

Somehow I have 2 broodies through all this. I guess I'll see if they're serious about it. If so, may be I can get some Hershey eggs? Stella eggs if she's letting Moose near her yet??? Dare I say Lav Orps? May be they'd hatch if I had NOTHING to do with it!

So glad to hear you've got some improvement. I'm also glad you still have a choc pullet. Don't worry about the roo. I'm sure you just overlooked him. He'll turn up.

Heck ya you can have some eggs. When ya coming to get them?

How many you want of each and when do you want them by? Yes, I did see Stella & Moose, um, well you know........He sure isn't the most graceful of roosters anymore, so I'm not too sure about the fertility, but he used to be able to git er done.

I hope everyone had a great dad's day with their loved ones. You boys were hilarious today! Not much else new. Sweet dreams, all!

I'm sure you mentioned it in previous posts but I was abscent for a while.... Where is your store and what kind of store is it ? Curious minds want to know in case I'm in the area on one of my road trips !!!

Oh, please do stop in! I'd love to meet you - so would the flock! I'm just south of Waupaca (near hwy 22 and 10) take K to the Red Mill and you'll see the store about 1/2 block south on the corner of Danielson Rd & Crystal Rd. It is an antique/collectible/gift/junque shop that is trying to also be a farm market one day. I have a little bit of everything! I also have fun and teach some art classes in my studio.

DrH... Hope you had a good time even if you didn't catch anything. Bet "the kids" were glad to see you come home.

JJ... I'm with you, I kinda like to visit cities if I'm going for an event, but I can't wait to get out again! I could NEVER live in the city, I would die of depression!

Bl4.... Yea, I miss the local news and weather. Only maybe a half dozen shows I'll miss. I'll live. My oldest with MS I'm sure it will be the hardest on. Hard to find things he's able to do. I was going to get him to do rag rugs but I got frustrated with him when I found out he had other people ripping the rags for him! The idea was for Him to do it! Glad you MIL figured out a way the ducks could get out more! Nice bash Pics!
