Here is Jose(Cochin Bantam from Yvette) taking care of his 20+ chicks as he hasn't made up his mind if he wants to be a hen or roo. He's a good chick caretaker wither way, been raising little ones for past 2 months

Hi all- I'm lying here with an ice pack on my back. Had the epidural cortisone injection in my lower back yesterday. Since I was too scared of the IV I decided to do it without sedation. Something went a little wrong and they couldn't get it in as easily as usual. Lots of pushing and pain. I admit I cried a little from the pain, but it was nice to go home and not be drowsy from the sedation. Back in 3 weeks to do it again.

So I have one ameraucana who has laid 3eggs since I got her in August. Well the 3 young roosters have taken a liking to her and jump on her one after another. Sooo disturbing. Kind of feel like I am witnessing a crime or something. Anyway last week I found her behind the barn looking very ratty. She has kind of become a wild chicken. Yesterday I realized I had not seen her in quite a while. I thought maybe she was dead. I wanted to check last night when they were roosting but my back hurt too bad. So today I went looking for her and found her under the huge cedar bush on the side of the barn. I went to bring her some food but she is so skittish she just kept running away. I left the food for her, and I will check tonight to see if she is roosting with the others at night. Poor thing. I plan to butcher her with the three roos when it is time.

My broody is still sitting. I am a little concerned that she is not eating or drinking but I have food and water right next to her. She was eating when I went to check on her today. Yesterday she had eaten one of her eggs, so I gave her another one to sit on. She has 8 eggs. Today there was a partially eaten one and one that she had kicked out of the nest. I cracked that one open and it was pretty neat. You know the bullseye that is on the yolk> Well it was bigger and had started to puff out like something was starting to grow. I put in in the basket with the other ones to carry in the house. Glad I didnt' put it in the carton.

Resting today while the kids are at my parents. We have ball games to watch tonight at 6 and 7:45. We'll see how my back feels after sitting on the bleachers for our DD6 6:00game and then go from there. Might not make it to my DS10 and DS9 games...

Thanks for the link to the poo pics! I never would have thought there were so many different kinds. AND I would never have taken the time to catalogue them all myself!

Judge - hope you're feeling much better!

Have fun hauling hay to TO's work crew!

I'm so glad it rained last night - I just wasn't up to even hauling the hose around today in the garden.

Here's a smile for today - my little friend heard I was under the weather and sent it to me:
