Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ok..... I'm going to try this again...... I lost my whole post....... the whole $hitin KaBam about what I brought home !!!

Ok, so I'll shorten it up, cause I need to go outside.

Back to Monday, at the clinic.... waited with Baited Breath for the shelter person to come pick up the animals so I could quiz her about the doxies.

Found out.... they both were going to a new home Weds... that's good they went together, I know my sister wouldn't have taken two, so for the best... sure were cute though.

Asked about the black pug... he was going to a new home as well...... good !!!! Don't know why I ask...... I'd take them all if I was born rich instead of beautiful..... LOL

Anyway then I had to ask... like I always do....... Do you have any poodles over there at the shelter? Expecting a ... No.... she said .. No... BUT tonight one is coming in....... I asked what time... she said 4am.......

Here is the scoop.... someone in Rhinelander or area works for Delta Airlines and loves animals (obviously eh), Then there is someone rich and famous (may be a celebrity) in California that funds the effort out there.
They ship out dogs to shelters in other areas because all of the dogs they ship out were strays and were held for 3 days and if they weren't claimed or placed they were put down.... IN 3 DAYS !!!

So Rhinelander got a bunch of dogs in Tuesday morning around 4AM. I asked it it was a boy or girl. She had no idea, no paperwork, ziltch, just call back Tuesday she said.
Well it was a long night, then couldn't call until they opened at noon on Tuesday....
So Tuesday headed to Rhinelander of EKG and doc appointment... When the clock struck Noon, I was on the phone..... She had no idea if it was a boy or girl since it was at the groomers....... Not sure but thought it was a poodle/maltese mix......... Ok,, told her I would stop after my doc appt.

So I go to the shelter and we walk to the back together........ and to my surprise.... It's a GIRL !!!

And I don't know how but some how the young man there twisted my arm into filling out an application !!!! So I hung around for a while, disappointed that he said it could be a week... I'm not patient when it comes to stuff like this.... anyway, talked to a lot of the volunteers there.... one that fostered those lab/pitt pups. She did a great job, they are wonderful dogs....hint hint hint...
And there are tons of kittens looking for homes.......hint hint !!

If anyone wants a chihuahua or two they have them. A little chocolate boy, a tan girl and a carmel color little boy, cutier then $hit.... she was calling him a wirehaired chihuahua.. Obviously a mix but was he a cutie pie.
So I left wondering what I was going to tell ET......to my surprise he wasn't surprised....... LOL

So now we are on Wednesday.... the day after I met the little girl.... the day the farrier got kicked in the face...... I didn't hear anything from the HS like I was hoping cause the the girl who runs the shelter said she might get some paperwork in yesterday.....
So ET and head down to Antigo to get some feed and supplys and a new battery for the truck... It was almost 5pm.... I get a voice mail message from the HS saying that they had the poodle/maltese spayed and there would be someone there later then normal if we wanted to come get her !!!!

Sounds like they really wanted to get her into a home instead of recovering at the shelter.

So she said she would wait for us until 7pm.
So literally ran through Fleet Farm. Also picking up a two doored med kennel, kennel bed and the rest of the crap we needed and headed back north and shot over to Rhinelander.
Wouldn't you know it we get there at 6:50pm and it started raining like cats and dogs !!!! How appropriate hey? LOL

Walked in and there was our little girl laying in a bed in the office. ET liked her (his mom rescued her first poodle years ago too)
Took ET to the back room to see the other little dogs and then went and did the paperwork...... They she asked if we would be in a photo with the dog. She said one of the woman who is involved in the rescue here or in CA (not sure who) likes to see pictures of the dogs and their new families......
We were all grubbed out... I asked ET.... my hair up or down !! LOL Hey, you don't know who will see that picture !!!! Especially if it's being sent to California !!! LOL

I asked her if she found out any more about the little girls background..... The vet that spayed her said she looks to be about 1 yr old.
She supposedly was running the streets of SanBernadino(sp) for three weeks before they could catch her. Then she was at the shelter for the three days, then went to the rescue for shipment to WI????? Not sure exactly how all that works witht he airlines and who in CA is doing what they are doing all I know is that there certainly are Saints here on Earth !!!
This pood dog had to be shaved very short since she was so matted. She probably was never groomed her whole life.
She snarled at Butt Dog (probably knowing Butts is the Queen Bee around here) but nothing major. Butts and Dolly could care less...... Now what did Mom bring home ??

I had gotten some dog beds for only $4.99 at Foster & Smiths a few weeks ago. I even went back and bought all of the rest of them so we'd have them in each vehicle.... good thing I did... I put it in her kennel (barely fit) and she is sound asleep right now..... it is like a small sofa.....

Now to just think of a name......I'll post my ideas later....

So there !!!! That's my story and I'm sticking to it !!

Oh, and I forgot to mention in this post (it was in my deleted post) that she is maybe between 10-15lbs.. long long legs (didn't think maltese have long legs) and long long nose..... (not used to long nosed small dogs) Plus they left the nose hair long so it makes it look longer !!
I said if she was a boy he'd be called Jimmy Durante' (sp)

So that just gave me a name Idea..... Barbie..... as in Barbra Streisand (again sp) LOL
Show of hands.

Who all is glad we didn't get the original long version if that was the short version?

FT: Congrats on Barbara!! LOL And what a neat story about the person in Cali!! (San Bernadino is the largest county in the US fyi, and where my foster son came from)

Judge: I also use Eprinex pour on...easy if done just after they go to roost at night. And I don't withhold eggs using this either. After all it is used on humans in Africa for internal parasites). I beleive a bottle is around 40.00 but it will last for years.

Cind: Meghann also gets RLS...keep hoping its jsut growing pains and not diabetes related but think Im being optimistic.

, LOL! Nice dog, congrats.

As far as the donk goes, I can tell you that my husband usually wont do them unless they are trained well. He is trying to keep his face and other parts intact. No real tips besides spend a lot of time picking up feet. He already spent his time getting launched by unruley critters and now he just doesn't risk it. He still occasionally takes a hoof somewhere though.

TO- Guess what? Both my buckeyes have extra toes! Little freaks, lol. They are so darn cute!

My other hen started hatching her babies. Maybe someday I'll have eggs again...
