I don't even want to tell you all... BBP called it. She said her friend had a poodle who was a chicken killer. Shadow just about got another chicken about 30 min ago. This time in front of me telling him no, leave it, etc etc. lucky the bird managed to get away on her own. It was one of my broodies. She got off her nest and apparently was looking for treats. She got an attack dog instead. I checked her over real well and gave her scrambled eggs for her troubles poor thing.
Tomorrow it's dog with the choke collar and leash amongst the birds. He is NOT going to get away with this. I also called about the trainer guy. Here's what we can do. Not as good as Unks suggestion, but it's something. The dog trainer at the local vet will take Shadow for 4 days next week. (It's his last week at the clinic). He will work with him on the basics. Much of it Shadow has, but he will be responding to someone new every time, the first time. He does not know stay in any form, so that will be new. On the 4th day, the trainer will have a session with me to show me how I need to do it at home. This is before I start the class at the other place. He is only going to charge me $40 a day to work with Shadow from 10-3. The trainer used to work with developmentally disabled kids before getting into dog training, so he is cutting me a deal to help us get this started ASAP. I think it's a good start at least!
I must get that dog out with the birds several times a day and make him submit to me in front of them! This. Will. Stop.
Crap.... I gotta feed Halden. Therapy is done, gotta get a nap in, do chores, and get to work.
Later gators!
