That is my good news of the day, bad news is I have three kids visiting the eye doc today, youngest DS had his eyes shift down 3 steps! Glad we got him in for new glasses before school started! the two DD's are there now so I should high-tail it over there.....

Frenchie, it IS a beautiful day!
Good Luck and yes we can collaborate!!!!! Can you say tuition discount x4?
Bbl4 good luck on the job!!
Website! Ha I dont even know how to work one lol
If your in the area and want some, just lmk!!

And that reminds me, someone asked about buckets. 5 gal plastic. And when their too little, 30 gal plastic drums. Very simple. He gets taps and tubing at fleet :) theres a temperature recipe for cooking. But he NEVER lets me touch it lol I burn water teehee
I asked about the buckets and it sounds really similar to what JJ suggested.

Our 10 birds are now 8..I had to give my 2 ameraucanas back to Vicki (Deli) as they were too noisy for me to have illegally. And soon we will be down to 5 when we kill off the roos (2 cross beak blrw and one lav roo). Then there will be just one that I am unsure about.

Dad is successfully moved in and unpacking/adjusting (as we are too).

Not much else going on here.

Cuties: Funny-the sick chicks name is "LAtte" but I DO have a Mocha! Hmmmm lol And Latte seems to be doing better-still not gaining weight though and she still has this cough/sneeze deal. I treated her for 5 days on Corid and now plan on waiting 10 days then treating with Sulmet-as I beleive Sulmet will work on any respitory issues. Either that or BBP said she would help me to draw a blood test and send it in to see if they can figure out what is going on.

FT: I have been buying our supplies from Walmart as well as online. Fleet Frm also has good prices on some pool supplies. The filters are only 3.10 ea if bought in bulk online FYI. My Ultra frame Intex is 48 in by 18 ft.

20% amprollium Corid powder from Farm and Fleet

That's 1 tsp per gallon correct?

That's what I have. That's what I made. I gave a drop directly to Sugar and Peepers. They are now both dead. I have to go set up a heat lamp now on the remaining babies and make sure I have the right amount of Corid in the waterer. Answers ASAP greatly appreciated so I don't accidentally kill the chicks.

Good evening...all this pool talk and the trouble they are...I guess I will keep the lake! I never have to do a thing to it. When I am done getting cool I can sit and watch the people...the best part of going swimming IMHO! I have to be really, really hot to actually swim though, sometimes just going to the lake and sitting there is cooling enough for me.

SClark--the babies are cute! I am not going to comment on your "open bator policy" however.

Frenchie--are you SURE that they are eating? I had some problems when I first put those guineas in the brooder. After they have been following mama I dont think they recognize the food as food. I put a dish of mealworms, snipped grass and chick food mixed together in there with them. They attacked the mealies and in the process must have learned that the pellets were good too! Do you have any little chicks running around that you can pop in there to teach them?
I have found a baby muskovy dead almost every day now for a few weeks. Nothing wrong the day before and no sign of attack. They are the older ones too...I had this one other year...dont know what it is though--never could figure it out.

Glad to hear that Latte is a little better. You must really like that pool to jump through so many hoops!

DS was mowing the lawn today and found three of those paper honey comb wasp nests(complete with in inhabitants) under the picnic table when he attempted to move it! I found him the fly spray and he got them taken care of without getting stung. They are pretty prolific this year. I had a nest in the trailer, in my truck door and DH got stung starting the skid loader cause they were in there too. I still have my "study hive" in between the bathroom windows. I love to watch them!

I put a chicken in the crockpot and went on to my day...unfortunately the CP wasnt plugged in!

I hate when that happens! I got home expecting to smell that yummy chicken cooking smell and NOTHING! I guess I have a head start for tomorrow now! Now I can turn it into something else besides stewed chicken. So I got home from the grocery store after the kids garden and thought I was going to head to my garden to do some weeding; I stepped on a stick in the pathway and it came up and stabbed my shin! I sat down with a bag of peas on it cause I had a goose egg bump on my leg by the time I got the stuff in the house. Well, it was more the size of a quail egg but still quite the bump! Of course now I should get off of here and go do some weeding...but I am so comfy! LOL.

I am going to meet a couple that needs some help tomorrow. Since I havent found any additional kids to watch I better! Hitting the hay early and setting an alarm for the morning, getting up, doing chores, going to town to return the parts DH got that were wrong to fix my car, meeting the people, and then heading to Jefferson to work in the garden! I sure hope it is nice like it was today!

I had some fun today...I headed out to do chores and my horse was standing in the middle of the barn! Oh boy...I figured they bossed him into the corner and he went over the fence rail that they broke, DH fixed and they broke it again! SO I walked him around to put him in the pasture. (that is when I found DS with the wasps) I headed out before leaving for town and hear DDs horse whinny--never a good sign when you own horses and arent out near them! SO I head down there and there is COmmander, standing by the coop eating corn! SHEESH! I thought he went out the same way but there was nothing disturbed in the barn this time. Put him back and decided to walk the fenceline. I took the hedge clipper and the lopper just in case, and it was a good thing I did! Something had run through the fence to the inside and broke the wire! Not sure if it was the horse trying to get back in or what. Walked the line and chopped and cleared...it was badly needed. So my fence is good and HOT again and the horses are safe.

Well, the peas must have worked! The bump is down and just a little purple, I guess I can go out and weed for a little bit! Maybe pick some raspberries! I better put on a long sleeve shirt though!

Quote: wow I understand your concern about the noise. They are both very loud. I do not remember having ever having birds that scream. They are both screamers.

good early evening, I watered the whole garden today. I use a hose with a regular twist nozzle..

I don't mind getting wet when I am watering,, it is usually really warm, and the soaking feels good.
I have perfected the watering to look like a chore so Annie thinks I am really working..

I had two swimming adventures in my life.. the first was when my father took me to the middle of lake Wausau and threw me out of the boat.. I had to swim over a quarter mile to shore.. the hardest part was struggling to get out of that burlap sack.. the second time was again in lake Wausau,, I tried to swim the half mile across.. I only made it three quarters of the way across, and I decided I couldn't make it, so I turned around and swam back..

there are quite a few new Delawares hatched.. I can't see all the way to the rear of the hatcher, so IDK how many.. I can easily see about a half dozen near the door..

Sandi, that switch schematic looks simple enough.. just go through it a step at a time.. find the main feed, do not hook it up, just mark it . next find the starter wire.. It will be the one that is activated when the switch is turned to start.. IDK what the connector called the "lanyard" is ?? must be a nautical term.. I am not a sailor.. If FT is not a patient sort, then that wiring should be passed on to someone who knows and will not become frustrated..

I made bacon burgers for supper.. fried and raw onions , baked beans, out of a can.. potato salad and cole slaw from the deli at pick 'n save .. just can't beat good ole down home cooking.

gotta go put some birds on C list.. have about 40 guuineas to get rid of.. plus some old hens and some new roosters..

somebody asked how much to charge for a rooster ?? It depends on how much you want to get rid of him.. I gave one away last weekend.. it was to a family who bought a bunch of pullets from me prior.. and today I got a call for the same kind of rooster.. 11 weeks old.. I told the guy $7.oo.. He is coming to pick it up as soon as I can catch it..

tomorrow I have to tear into the lawn mower and see what kind of damage I have to fix.. either a v-belt jumped off or broke.. and I noticed the blades really really need to be sharpened.. IDK why they don't make the tips of the blades tempered steel ?? or at least a high carbon steel ??

ok, going outside for one last look around at the nice weather.. might even partake in a brewski while I am out there..

Oh, btw,, some of my tomato plants have reached the four foot high mark.. tomorrow, I will be tying them up another notch or two..

all the new youngest plants have doubled is size in the last two days..

Don't dump it out. Take 1/2 out and add water. You can use the other half tomorrow. Just store it in the fridge or a cool place or make an additional water station.
