bigfam..any possibility of worm overload? that would cause weight loss also. You could call around and see what a fecal test would cost at local vets. usually 3-18 depending on vet. test would show both worms or cocci if its present. then you would know what to treat

after all that I read tonight about dosage,, I wouldn't.. none of it is conclusive and nobody has agreed on the same dosage..

I have never isolated the medicated chick starter from any of the other birds.. as far as them gobbling it all down and none left for the babies is nonsense.. if that happens, you are not feeding enough of it..

and while I am reminded of it.. there should not be such a thing as a chicken/bird not getting to eat.. If there is enough feed in the feeder, they meeker ones will be pushed away, but after the hogs are finished the meeker ones have full access to the feed.. the hogs DO NOT stand guard and chase the meek ones away.. come on !!

I just listed 50 guinea keets on C List.. and 20 laying hens..

I set 49 guinea eggs tonight,, due 8/17/13 most of these were found in nests hidden in the weeds.. Annie left a couple of eggs in each nest, and the guineas are still using them.. (so far)

I got the lawn mower partly dis assembled.. the belt is cut up quite badly, and it is jambed to tightly to pull loose.. so tomorrow I will hoist it with Ollie so I can work on it where I can actually see what I am doing..

What ? Oh, it is a spotted cow calling for me.. gotta go..

FT... If it takes more than one hose to get to your garden, get an in-line valve to put between the two. Beats walking to the faucet to turn it off to move the sprinkler. I ave one of the pulsating ones like you have, I have it on about a 2' stake, it gives it a better reach and doesn't drown the plants closest to it. Sorry about your keets

Wow, all this talk about "brownies" and "tootsie rolls" makes me not feel so bad bringing up my "smoke-able medicine" . I can't take most pain meds. and that stuff gives a boost to what I can take. Wis. better get off their @sses and make it legal here! There are 4 of us in this house could get a medical card for it in a heartbeat! I'll try real hard not to get on my soap box about it. I'll just say it's been around and worked as medicine as long as man has been around. It's only been the last 100 years or so anyone has squawked about it! OK, 'nuff said.

Young Son brought home more fish. Think we'll have FFW! LOL I'm too busy on Fri. to do it.

I didn't think it was necessary to feed chicks medicated feed if they were with mom. And, did an adult bird die too? I think something else is going on with them, not coccidiosis. I think sometimes we're too quick to make that the diagnosis. I am apparently too slow at it, and that's how I lost my rarest chicks

All the baby Robins flew the coop day before yesterday. We still cannot use the front porch though, a Purple Finch had taken up residence in one of my Fuchsias...

The rain that came through hardly did a thing here, so I am still watering.

I suppose, it is time to head on out.

good morning,, if I do everything today that I said yesterday that I would do tomorrow, it will be a busy day..

chicks are still hatching..
very robust at hatching time.. I am watching four of them that just hatched, doing their break dancing..

I am corresponding with a lady about my Sebastopol geese.. we are well into it, and now she asked me what is the price ? People know what the price is,, they just ask like that to see if you will say a price lower than the one posted.. I have the trio listed on C list for $250.oo will not split them up .. and do not make me a rediculoiusly lower offer .. how much clearer can I get ??

now she wants some "close up" pictures,, folks,, geese do not like their picture taken,, I will give it a try, though..

I have a feeling this is going to be another , "lots of questions and then drop the ball" deal..

I have to get DD#2 out here to show me how to catalog my pictures.. Now I have to scroll through about 300 pics to get to the last ones I take.. It is quick enough, but it could be quicker if they were in folders..

Good Morning Everyone else. For some reason I can't insert smileys ????

Just an FYI.... spit in the glass this morning, not at easy as you would think to muster up all that spit when you are on so many meds and have a dry mouth..... Outcome, uneventful.... I'll spare you the details !!!

Went to the lake last night. No luck installing the switch with the new directions for what goes where. Even put the old one back on and no luck.
ET is going to call a guy that the neighbor gave him. I think he must have pulled another wire or something. The battery is fully charged, all fuses seem intact.... ?????

Well, it's not up for sale...Yet..... it is kind of nice to just sit on it.... the pier makes me very very nervous walking on it let along getting in and out of a lawn chair. I am not the daintiest when I get up and down and I can just see myself getting up and plopping right into the lake. Wouldn't be so bad if my fake leg (called a C-leg.. not Sea-leg) isn't water proof and would cost me lots of $$$$$$.
Going to FF today to buy some wood chips. Decided we like the Premium horse bedding that comes in a brown bag. Real thin wood stick type vs flakes. I think $5.49 a bag.
Going to get some medicated chick food as well. I hadn't been feeding it because I was using it on my ducklings but now I have them on meat maker. One of my buff orp teenagers is looking kind of puffy and standing around. Don't see bloody poop but just in case I'll throw a bag of medicated at them.
Down to 6 keets and one isn't doing well. The six have full tummies and the one is empty. It survived the night, I tried to give it food and water last night but boy are they hard to feed.
After looking at all of the ones that died, none of them had full crops. Guess I didn't notice that all of them weren't eating because they move around so fast and they (meaning the ones that were) were eating and pooping. Wonder if because it was so cold out the last few days when they were out with mama that it got them off to a bad start ???
Jim you are the Guinea Fairy.... what are your thoughts on this?
My digital thermometer isn't working (and it's almost new) so I have to pick up another one today so I don't really know how warm the tub is but the ones that are alive and well are sleeping comfortable so I think it's ok.
