Well, as you know my young son has been working at the Ren. Fair. He was talking to his boss about camping during the shows and such. Well, he was paying $30 a day at the camp ground he was at and it was a cr@ppy one with no shade and he couldn't let his dogs out of the camper except to potty then he had to take them back in. Plus it was noisy weekend nights, when he had to work the next day. So, Son talked to us about it. We're getting $100 a week and he'll pay extra for elec. He'll even buy some fencing to make a run for is dogs that we can have when he's done. We need the money and he and the dogs will be better off. He even is going to help Son with splitting wood and other chores. Boredom is something else he hates about the campground. He already gave us $400 so it should work.
Anyway..... He made me a business offer so....

Wanted!
Turkey, goose, peacock and rooster cycle feathers! And other nice or unique feathers.
If you can send me a batch I will send you back postage and a few extra bucks. I'll do cash or money order, just let me know which. P.M. me for my addy. This could be a good project for some of you with kids for them to make a couple bucks here and there. And if your going to butcher I'll take those feather too!
This will really help me too. I will admit, with the health issues I often feel like I can't contribute to our finances. Making things for his store will bring me a few bucks and I can work at it at my leisure.
Thanks so much!!!
So, any rooster tail feathers I find you want me to keep? As well as any other nice feathers. And how much is a "batch"? Thanks, and by the way what are you planning on making? Cool project

HEYwho can tell me what breed my chicken is? I have no clue. She's orange and lays normal brown eggs.

wow sounds like many of you are having some challenges. I hope you get them all resolved soon

Colton,

If you have a few hens that are getting sick and bubbly eye, you might want to check more of your birds. It might be something else.

A picture would help..

CL,

As far as feathers go...you want all the feathers when I butcher?

Deli- how are my 2 screamers doing? Have they adjusted? Are they still screaming?
I put my AM's in with them Friday and they are done screaming. I am putting them with the rest of the flock in 10 more days. I see no signs of distress or illness from them. I am always worried about it, and particularly so since the camping trip. All are healthy (as you witnessed when you were here), so I am less worried than I was. They are healthy birds, and have a good immune system, so they look and act great. Very sweet birds. I am showing the both of them with my AM male. Going to do a trio with them. They are so sweet and easy to take in and out of the show cage. My female is a spaz.I am glad my male is so layed back. He is getting so nice and big. Those legs of his are finally getting a body on top. Your girls are filling out nice and you had such a beautiful sheen on that lacing. They love to eat. I am really enjoying them.

I got my first Marans egg today. I am not impressed with the color. I have no idea if Marans eggs get darker as they mature. I do know they change color threw the year, but i think this pullet might be a cull. Disappointing. I will give her a few weeks and see how it goes.

Questions for the "chicken gurus" . . . I have been feeding Nature Wise chick starter to all of my birds since the June 6th hatch of my Delawares, since everyone is in the same coop and run. I'm thinking of getting one more 50lb bag of the chick starter which should last me until the end of August. The little buggers will be about three months old by then, is that too young to start them on the layer pellets? I ferment the chick starter and will do the same with the laying pellets. Thanks in advance

Hi!

Yea, I'll take almost any feathers, I don't think I'll need the little fluffy ones, but some nice white ones would be nice, (I realized I don't have any white chickens! LOL) I'll be making metal tipped quill pens, bookmarks, and hat decorations. I'm going to attempt to teach myself how to cut quill pens too. I may come up with more thing too. A batch is what ever you feel like sending, maybe stuff a large envelope or a small box. You can let me know what you think they are worth if like. The idea is to be able to provide an inexpensive souvenir.

Thanks again!
