My mom just got a new wireless printer today too. weird

Bigfam, I know a guy, who knows a guy that breeds breda's. My guy gave me one for free because he's awesome, he also gave me ten Light Sussex. He is amazing. I am getting some more breda mixes soon. Only one or two though, hens, for my rooster.

(score) He said that there are only like three other people in Wisconsin that have them, he said. Don't quote me, anyone on here have them? My guy is great, but he is very protective of his hens, well hen. He is with the Light Sussex roo that is four times his size.

I like them both..I really wanted sussex and tried to hatch some out. They have huge eggs..I would love a few pullets. The SLW are due next week. I hope it is a good hatch.

Good luck on the hatch. We have a lot of chores to do this weekend and I hope that butchering and building a rabbit pen are on that list! I really like the look of the light sussex and it appears that Colton knows a guy, that knows a guy! LOL When my birds go broody, I think I'll get some eggs to hatch.

Hey everyone, wake up! Where are all the early birds anyway?????? It is 7 AM!!

While down in the Southern part of the state, we stopped at this little farm stand that specializes in mushrooms....... and no, not the 'fun' kind, but gourmet eating 'schrooms. I believe the place that grows the mushrooms is River Valley Ranch. I bought a 1# bag of Oyster and Shiitake, and a 1# mixed bag of whatever they grow. Sauteed up the Oyster and Shiitake mushrooms last night, and had the DH grill up a tenderloin. YUMMY!!!! Too bad we ate all the mushrooms! I am trying to figure out what to do with the mixed bag....... soup sounds good....

We had a nice relaxing campfire last night too. Good to be back home, but it would have been even better is some magical cleaning crew had transformed my house........ oh well, a girl can dream!

Off to work.

I would think being beheaded, or having your neck broken would suck too. But it's fast, so it reduces the amount of suffering.

This is how we butcher out our birds. Quick and simple...but messier than the throat method I'd think.

Just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Lexmark, guy in Phillipines... He accessed my computer and set up my wireless printer. Works great. Great customer service so far. To bad he had to be so far away !!!

Where do you live again? Where is your guy located compared to you? Does he have pure light Sussex? Will he ship eggs?

I think this person is a bit late on the "rage" of cream legbars. Heard all about them last year...they stil look like mutts to me. I have a whole bunch that look really much like them!

Well, it's time for me to hit the hay...I was feeling pretty awake until I started reading here! My Mon/Wed kid's Dad has an accepted offer on their house...looks like I will be looking for more work soon...the old folks die and the kids move away...maybe I should open a boarding kennel?

I agree, looks like at least 50/50 LOL safe to say that hey? The white silke ,,,,,,,at first glance I thought Roo. The black one... Batman .... ??? Nothing jumped out on me.

Jim, bleeding to death can be painful. I was actually thinking about people....so no I didn't read about it on BYC.... When the heart is deprived of blood can go into a heart attack.... which of course is painful. (don't ask me how I know this)
Might not be the same for chickens... who knows....??? Yeah, I can't imagine anyone that enjoys doing the deed. I try not to think about it when I'm enjoying my steak or the hamburger I had for supper. I really should be a vegan.... but ..... have no excuse... I love to eat..... If I would ever watch the butchering of any animal I think I would be one step closer to becoming one though.
Reminds me I have a huge vegetarian cook book somewhere around here. I really should try some of those recipes.
Tomorrow I go for more chicken feed. Guess it never ends if you don't cull one way or the other so I really can't complain.

Unless of course they keep dying..... lost another snowy mallard duck today. Down to two out of five !!! They are all feathered and full size. I did lose a few of the magpies but just a couple out of about 20, don't know how many I have, isn't that bad..... they won't sit still long enough to count and with my short term memory problem I don't remember who I counted !!!! Geez...

And btw what's with all the angel wings going on lately ???? I have a magpie that has horrible angel wing and a few others that are a bit angel winged as well. Then I look at my 6 keets and one of them seem to have some feathers that stick out more then the others on both wings !!

Farrier is coming on Friday...at least he said he is.... he is a man of his word so my next two days are getting filled up.
ET went over to the lake today to try the boat again. He couldn't find the kill switch the guy told him to look at... so has a call into the guy.
Pool is still on hold. I told ET we should take it back. No he said it is all out of the box.... I give up..... I'll never have money or sanity !!! Although he did switch batteries from his ATV to mine and turns out I need a new battery for mine. Plus I have to carry a hammer and tap the starter to get it started..... The auto reverse doesn't work on his so I wasn't using his cause I didn't want to get cornered in the woods or something.
Now if I can get him to take the pool out of the truck tomorrow so I can go get chicken food......

Wonder when the Homecare will call. I sure want to get that oxygen started at night to see if it makes me feel any better !!! In a way I'll be really T'd off if it does.... but grateful.... will wonder what took the SOB's this long to figure it out !!!

Bl4.... I've been getting mushrooms at River Valley Ranch for over 30 years! Where they are now is not where they started out. Where they stared was further east on 50 and (thankfully) the state bought their land to redo the Highways. Where they were at was so close to the river they would often get flooded. Haven't been out there for a while, I should try to go soon,

colton... Glad to hear the chickens are doing better! Congrats on talking your dad into the chicks! If I were to order chicks, that's the mix I would have gotten! Are you doing meat birds? I thought you had said something about that once.

Jim... If any of your birds loose some nice feathers I would really, really like them

I wouldn't worry to much about a few bugs used for coloring, you probably had more bug parts in your cereal.
You know, I was so happy when I had my first broody hen. Now all this broodiness is driving me nuts! I'll give the turkey in the berry bed one more week or so. If nothing hatches I doubt they will. That means all 3 turkey hens have been broody. I have a guinea hen back by the pine trees and I'm not sure, but another may be missing. I've already let 4 hens hatch some chicks and 2 others have been broody but I haven't let them have eggs. Now Storkey is broody AGAIN!!!

I'm suprised Jasmine hasn't gone broody again. Just wait, she'll go broody just before the first snowfall LOL.

Well, stared making feather things. Better get to bed to I can get house and chores done early so I have time to work on them in the evening.
