Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Here's from my last hatch 8/9, 2 I took from Buffy that were further along than her 4 left and no idea how but one from the farm innovator(were 2 but had to cull from deformities)that's the only blue. Still waiting on Buffy and Reds to finish hatching. Buffy had one hatch so far that was her own chick so that was nice for her, she also has one pip as of this am. Nothing so far on Red, she's due today.

Off to get ready to head to Chippewa Falls for my pre-op appt.

Feeling a little better as each day goes but dang sure hanging on long enough. Thanks for the get well wishes I think its finally working.

CC ... I did actually think of you with the broken neck comment and figured you'd agree!

Colton... I actually have a Black Breda. I had 5, but a bout of cocci left me with one.

Deli... I could perhaps see a pair of Jubilee Orps from Sacre???

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I was reading that the chocolates will get lighter over time. So you periodically have to breed back to a quality black on both sides. I read that on the Jordan Farm website. In my tiny brain which does not comprehend genetics, I just want simple. This roo and hen will make this. I don't want to play switch a roo Roo to make a color better. (I have no patience.) (Zip it CC!) that's why I chose wheaten Marans over blue coppers when given a choice. Too many variables.

Jubilee Orps are very very pretty. I also like the legwork being done for me. (No patience). I'm more than happy to share Jubilee Orp eggs if I were to get a pair! :-D

That would be the place! Right there on 50. Of course my cousin has some bass ackward way of getting there..... I will enjoy going and getting a few kits this fall....

I ended up helping a friend look at a vehicle last night after work...... and of course she bought it so that made the evening that much later, and then we had dinner together....... I ended up rolling in the driveway at 10:45. By 11:10 I was passed out for the night. I am STILL tired this morning!

And of course it is time to fly out the door........ I think I want to be a stay at home mom again........

Enjoy the day everyone!

"Hey did any of you catch the news last night about what they put in Star Bucks coffee and Dannons Strawberry yogurt??? Carmine....crushed bugs .. to give the pink color to the strawberry yogurt...... Gross. Just when you thought the pink was from the strawberries !!!"

but it's "all natural"

Totally organic!

Erin, looks like a whole lotta roos there. Can't really see the 2 little ones you said chest bump all the time, but that alone sounds suspicious.
I have no clue on the silkies.

Erin, I also seen males except one female filling a pail with water...

Chocolates do need black sometime down the road. I doubt you will ever need it. If you keep your original pair you just breed those. It is 5th generation or more that you need to add black back. That is 5 or more years of breeding chicks to chicks. You already have black.

I am not crazy about the jubilies, but I am working on making them and mottled. It will take me a few years.
If you really want to spend big bucks..Mottled is the way to go.

Just an FYI- two of my 16 week old red sex-link hens have been chest bumping constantly since they could stand up! That's just a kiddie pecking order thing. IMHO

good morning,, I let the BO pullets out and the young barocks stayed in,, my plan is working. I closed up all the gates so the BO's have to stay in the big yard.. tomorrow I will leave the coop door open and let the barocks come out if they want to..

cind, I have some peacock tail feathers.. I can keep a lookout for goose wing feathers,, those make good quill pens.. and if you can get ahold of DrH, he can show you how to make quill whistles..

I just had a call from a lady who says she is coming just after noon to look at my BO's..

I have one keet left in the in the TV.. he has splayed legs.. I was going to kill him, but he is so healthy otherwise, I will tape him up and see if we can straighten him out..

I had some comments about some posts, but CRS right now..

Ok now Colton got me thinking of yet one other question . . . do you vaccinate a brood hatched by a hen? I didn't really think about it since the only chicks we get from a hatchery are the meaties.

I had read a while back about the additive being used to make "strawberry" items red, which is when I switched from Yoplait to Sugar River brand yogurt. The fruit is on the bottom, so when you stir it up the strawberry is slightly colored pink and the raspberry more so. I try to go with the five ingredient rule (not always easy). If there are more than five ingredients listed or I can't pronounce most of them, I figure it's probably not good for me. Now with my husband home and doing the grocery shopping . . . well let's just say I can't wait to be retired and back to manning the kitchen!

Vicki - sorry about your little rescue hen, but so glad she was able to finish out her days with you, she was a very lucky little girl

I really enjoy everyone's pics - one of these days I will find the time to get mine off the camera, filed away, and be able to post a few.

Unk those are the ugliest darn birds!!! And when I say big bucks I didn't say that big of bucks. For how I kill inadvertently 'em around here... NO WAY! ;)

Thanks for the info on the chocolates Deli. I didn't think chocolate was supposed to be as convoluted as blues but I didn't want to tangle with it if it was!

I was going to ask, when Angie posted a pic of her BLRW she mentioned something about the wings still being one color. Are they not supposed to be? I noticed that my Lacey from Deli had two toned wings. Was just curious if that was good or a fault.
