Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi everyone! Do DrH are you saying that you didnt have the flood insurance? THat is what I thought you said at the beginning of all this...my client was lucky I guess when the island flooded 2 years ago--she didnt have insurance either...got either $22,000 from them or $2,200--she told me both numbers so I really have no idea...maybe FEMA ran out of $$$ with that disaster and Jefferson and all the other ones lately?
Speaking of disasters...I was unloading hay last night and heard a ruckus in the coop, looked out the window of the barn and I saw my foster dog Nikita (siberian husky) attacking chickens! I yelled at her and she stopped; then I ran down and she came right to me...wanted to knock her silly (of course couldnt since she came when I called her) Anyhow, she succeeded in killing one of my young hens and the whole coop and surround was covered in turkey feathers--the turkeys are OK I guess...none were dead. THe dog chewed the leash she was on--looked like she used a knife! Dang foster dogs! Of course the "little voice in my head" told me to not use a leash and put her on the cable....Dang little voice....

So here are the pics of the start of my new coop...well, dang computer...I cant find where the pics went...now I have to go to work...ttyl! Terri O

cd think you took me the wrong way, your fine. Was just trying to say that your gonna want more birds thus the need for more space. The beer box would work great! But like you say ya gotta get it past the boss, like Raimnel said maybe some paint, a nice chicken mural perhaps.
lol.png
Raimnel no flood insurance so no moolah. All out of pocket. So it'll be a one room at a time remodel job should only take the rest of my life so I've got time.

Ok today was a nightmare,... wearing scrubs...

I left early, with DH in tow.. to get to Meriter early because my Meriter HOME health nurse said to go there, to get labs, "trough" draw...
then go to a sky walk and go over to see the infection expert doc..
Well we had brekkies, then went to register.. they are clueless.. but play along... send me up to the lab.
where I wait for 15-20 mins while they are clueless....
I say .. ok. this is stupid. you can't find the lab orders??? uh.. umm.. uh.... (dail tone)
old.gif

I leave and go to the appt... I have NO clue that he is in the UW system, that I have to check with the UW receptionist... (snooty too!!!
smack.gif
)
I get there.. they say, oh we have been expecting you at this lab, at 1 s Park..
he.gif

YOU said I could do it at Meriter.. Meriter registration CALLED YOU!!!!
So then I have to see the infection doc, then have my dressing change, then go to get labs...
YOU think it would be done.. NOPE>.... doc says he wants a urine to check for some thing.. does the lab have it?? NO.. I INSIST they do the urine.. and am calling
his office..and am put on hold...
THEN I have to drive to stoughton to their hospital to request my records there.. dear infection doc needs those.. he put in a request that I signed.. 2 weeks ago...thru EPIC..
They aren't signed up with epic.. not till FEB!!! did he have his people call me to see if I could expedite?? NO!!!

I didn't start my dam antibiotics till after noon, it is supposed to start at 8 am.. so only 4 to 5 hours late....

just cut off the darn arm and give me a stick!!! I can beat them with it!!

Good Evening Folks...busy day here with the knive workin in my favor...kinda like swingin the saw doc, only lighter!
Wcc, bummer with the health care here in the USA.... More paperwork and confusion than healthcare, eh!
In regards to Jims swaps. He hatched this batch of 70 to butcher. However, he ended up with almost 100% pullets and feels it a shame to butcher them if folks need layers instead of the cockerals they don't want. I said it before, and will say it again...Jim is the best!
Gonna sleep til daybreak tomorrow....have a great one....stay safe... ~ bigzio

I'm sorrry, forgot to say that it's our anniversary today....38 years of wedded bliss. We have become a couple of yeal dandays....

WcC, I would be making a MAJOR stink about that one. I can see one snafu with appointments and the like, but 4-5?????? Days like that I want to send the darn Doc a bill for a waste of MY time.

Not much going on here, Halloween was fun and now looking forward to Thanksgiving.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Everyone! Bigzio Congradulations on the anniversary!!!!! Not many can or will be able to say that. I figured that's what Jim was doing with the roo's. Bigger bird huh. That's quite the hatch %! Enjoyed meeting him at the bash kept forgetting to ask how his leg healed up after that run in with the grinder. It hurt just to look at it. Owwieee! WCc sounds like you've had as much grief with the providers as you have with the shoulder. TO sorry to hear about the hen! Understand the wanting to and then not. As far as Fema I started out knowing that it was a slim chance but it would have been nice. Never been one to look for hand outs but think I would have accepted it in this case at this point in my life. Like I said we'll survive. Not as cold as I would like to do the freezer but think I'll do it anyway. With the weather being nice this weekend think I'll clean out the 2 shed stalls. That will be no small feat! Have a great Friday!

They did give us a 10 dollar gas card to... BP...ya.. love that... whoopee...
I am seriously hoping to get out to the farm today...and now it seems my pump is going slooooow.. OR my line is clogged again.. sigh...

Here is my mini/teeny warm area.. it will have a clothe cover for wind protection.. but it is held together with 4 nails, and cat food cans!!! Made with found items from around the farm.

WIChookChick that is ridiculous!

I will never understand why doctors offices think nothing of wasting the patient's time and money. I know this is not the best idea, but sometimes I egg my kids on a little bit when things are just out of control.
hide.gif
I promise I don't allow them to make other patients annoyed though. One time when we were left in a room for 45 minutes I didn't tell my son not to stand in the hallway asking me where the doctor is and why they tried to lock us in that room.

Happy Anniversary Bigzio!

Dr Ha ha, I am sorry that you have been going through so much trouble with all of the flooding. It must make you want to
he.gif
at times. I have to say, you seem to be amazingly positive and upbeat for the most part considering the circumstances. It is quite admirable. We have had flood insurance for a few years now and while we aren't in a flood zone, I am convinced that if we decide to ever cancel the policy that will be the very day that the sky opens and Lake Michigan relocates a little bit west.

There is no right answer I guess. I hope I can learn to roll with the punches better as you seem to.

Do any of you have any certain guidelines you follow for when it is okay to let the chickens out in the cooler weather? Right now it is about 35 and a bit on the windy side here. If my flock were full grown I wouldn't hesitate to open the door, but I am unsure about how to proceed at their current age of 11 weeks.

Good morning! That sounds like a real episode Wichc (still dont have that abbrev. right...) I have to deal with appts all the time with my clients but have never had that much go wrong! There is definitely a communication gap there somewhere. Make a notebook and write EVERYTHING down so you know and they know who talked to whom and when. Then next time they might be able to use your trail and figure out where the problem is! You certainly dont want a repeat of that experience!

Just chilling here this morning--thinking of all the things I should be doing...spent about 45 mins trying to find the pics I downloaded last night. I even took a new pic and tagged it, still couldnt find it anywhere but I did a search for the tag and it popped right up! Tried to follow that trail to may yesterday pics but--nope--dead end! Last time I delete after copying! Got to leave for work about noon today so I have a little time yet to waste! Feeling pretty lazy--I worked until 10 last night with the most delightful lady! The people she lives with went to a praise and worship meeting so I sat with her for 4 hours. I sure hope I am as pleasant when I get that old! We talked about the chickens she had as a child in Yugoslavia before they were forced into Germany...very interesting stuff!

Congrats on the anniversary Bigz! Man I thought we had a big number with 26 this month! I dont think we will ever beat 2 of my clients though...they both passed away this summer but were able to celebrate their 74th in June! WOW!

Something to work towards to be sure!

My cat is eating on a banana peel I have on the table next to me...I didnt know that they cared too much for bananas...isnt that weird? My house is still a jungle...I have to figure out where in the world I am going to put these plants for the winter! Oh I have to tell you too....I was chicking out how many people are on that map in the beginning of this section...kinda scary how those pictures are in the street views! I can see the front of my house, the yard and the garage, driveway and pasture quite clearly...if I zoom in I can even see what is IN the garage! I may be planting some pines in the front to screen for the next time they do pics...sure am glad that I wasnt out nude sunbathing in the yard! (yeah right)
Well--I better DO SOMETHING! Myabe drink another cup of coffee...

How fun! We were typing at the same time! Too bad I am so long winded...they say Kel that it is OK to let them out if they are fully feathered. They will find a place out of the wind or will just go back in. I have a few that never seem to go out...I stopped throwing scratch inside to coax them but they seem content to just dustbathe in the coop and sit in the sun that comes in...crazy birds! They are lazy I tell ya!

Interesting set up you have there WiChc...do the cat food cans hold down the top board? It looks kind of like the stuff I make...maybe we BOTH need Becky to come and help us build!
bow.gif
She did make quite the nice place for her quail!
Speaking of quail...do you think I could pickle my BUTTON quail eggs? I am wondering how they would be to peel...so tiny! I am really thinking aobut getting some bigger ones to keep outside. I have been reading about them and how if you have 100 or so you can let them out and make a "funnel" so they come back in as the others call them back. Sounds FUN! BTW Becky--did you ever catch your escapee? OK I really do have to go now...LOL--have a great day everyone! Terri O
