Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Afternoon! Got some stuff done outside this AM. Heading to somebody else's farm to work for the afternoon and then to the kids' garden...then home to change and have a snack and off to the Nanny position interview. Yeah I got the job with the agency...now I just have to impress the family! The kids will be easy....1 and 4 years old....and 2 big dogs! I wonder if I should bring treats? LOL!

I am jealous that some of you are canning! My stuff is still all out or down in storage and I havent started the preserving part yet. I have been giving large care packages to the kids and we have been eating mostly vegetarian for a few weeks. Here is one of the boxes I delivered yesterday...

The garden is doing very well this year! (anything is better than last year though!) It is pretty overgrown because of the Hubbard squash vines going over EVERYTHING! I was scouting them yesterday and there must be at least 4 that are well over 30 pounds! I cant wait to harvest them...and the sweet potatoes! Shouldnt be too long now.

There's my chipmunk again...silly thing! This time the cat is on the stool looking at him.
Time to run...have a great afternoon!

Danny Boy has a new home just down the road a ways. I'm a little sad but happy he is in a nice place instead of a stew pot. The hubs was so close to killing him the other day and after he flew at my face instead of my legs I knew it was just a matter of time. *sigh* Some of my neighbors will probably be pleased that there will be no more crowing coming from my back yard all day (at least until Eric finds his voice).

I continue to be outdistanced by my tomatoes! I can't get them picked and sold fast enough so it's more processing and freezing for me! I'm glad the frost missed us so far. Red peppers are nearly ripe! Just started to harvest the millet and it looks like I'll have several feed bags full. Next year I'm going to plant more so it will last through the winter.

TO - are you feeling any bedder??

Zeke - nice to see you back!

As always, I love the pics - keep them coming!!

This incubation time around is a complete fail. I have 3 hatched out of the 40+ that were in the old round incubator and have killed 5 of them due to a drop in humidity. I have since moved half to my homemade and half to the Brinsea. They are on day 24 but candling them looks like their behind due to the temp drop I noticed a few days ago. One I did help as it was shrink wrapped was very deformed, the beak wasn't fully formed below nostrils and the eyes weren't in the right location so we culled. Im not sure if I should just stop them all now or let them go longer and hope for no more deformed chicks. The 3 that did hatch are well but were awfully wet and had yoke parts not fully absorbed. I have one Leghorn that I helped as it was shrink wrapping but seems the membrane is too thick. Its still breathing and is half covered by shell yet. Im keeping the membrane moist so it doesn't re-shrink to it as I had one do that overnight and it couldn't get out and died.

Cool pics french and awesome tractor judi. Deli I couldn't count the chicks from my phone as the pic was so small. I can't remember what else I read but hope everyone is good. Oh Yvette gl on your eggs hatching.

Evening All....good to hear that the hubbards are gonna be good TO. I'm happy you planted them. If you can see 4....you prolly have a couple more hidden. I've even had them hanging in the spruce trees. They love their freedom, eh! They make wonderful pies for sure.

Oh my, this fresh pecan pie is so tasty...LOL...my fingers are sticking to the keys.....

I'll bbl....gonna call Mark after dark cuties...time to lock up the girls myself.
