Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Holy cow!!! The furnace guys got here at 8:15 am. At 10:15 am the old furnace was out, New furnace in, roof stack replaced, furnace tested, mess cleaned up. A little very friendly chatting, paperwork and at 10:30 am they were gone! Can't get better than that :D

Wish the two Aussies would get a little more active. They are looking good and eating well but just spend an awful lot of time just resting. I even took my pitchfork and fluffed a little area of the run so they could scratch and maybe try a dustbath but they just ignored it. They are also scared of everything. Sigh.

I have lurked on the Cheesehead thread for a long while, but have not made a reply in the past in part due to the fact that I am just over the border in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. I feel compelled to reply at this time related to the auto sales topic.
A little history is that I have had chickens on and off since about 1972 and got much more serious about them a couple years ago after I retired. The first 10+ years of my professional career were spent in the Public Accounting industry working for some of the larger CPA firms in the U.S. The next 27 years were spent in the retail auto industry with a 2 year hiatus in the financial services industry (selling stocks and financial services).
I worked only a short time as a vehicle sales rep but for several years as a sales manager and many more as a general manager all at auto dealerships. Contrary to what many think most vehicle sales people are not scheming con artists, but there certainly are some in the business (maybe 10% in my experience) who give everyone guilt by association I guess?
The irony is that most of the consuming public is not positively stimulated by advertising or sales presentations that are straight forward factual and honest. People seem to gravitate to the gimmick that is in reality too good to be true, and when they find out that there is not a better deal there than at their hometown dealer they buy there any way in part so as to not have to go back and say I guess you were being straight and it was a good deal.
I was lured to work as a general manager for one of these(rope a dope chain operations), but left after 11 months because I could not in good conscience continue to be associated with that type of business. The money was very good, but there is much more to life than money. You have to be able to look that guy in the eve that you see each day in the mirror.
In my experience the stock market/financial services industry is worse than the car business. People don't want to deal with reality. Most think there is some magic formula or inside information that is going to help them get rich.
Enough ranting I have work to do, and my current customers always appreciate what I do for them.

I was just reading the thread "why do you keep roosters" and if any of you still think cats don't go after chickens, start reading ;)
Oh, and here's the update on my "cat fight". It got back to them that my neighbor with the dead chicken had borrowed our livetrap and now they keep it on a tether when it's outside. :celebrate
Every body is a little safer including the kitty. Honestly I think the kicker was when I asked her if it had its shots and I glanced at the dog. I could actually see some of the color from her face. Right there I knew nobody was vaccinated, or licensed.

What I learned in the car business is that the people who went home happiest were the ones that put their effort into finding the right car instead of arguing about the price of a car that will just do.

The folks who pay the least ALWAYS feel cheated and are never satisfied while, those who pick a car and pay for it and don't stress over how much more they could have saved are much happier in the long run. They also end up with less complaints about the car they bought.

That and if you make the mistake of asking a person how much they can pay a month, the answer you get is 250.00/ mo. Even the people with their nose pressed against the window sticker of a 80,000.00 BMW, or a 50,000.00 Suburban.

Unfortunately, the 10% of the sales people whom are heartless scum are the 10% that are successful and therefore are always in the car business. The other 90% are always turning over.

Lastly, If you are talking to a car salesman and they say anything that includes the phrase " put you together" as in I sure would love to put you together with a car you will love for a long time. RUN! do not walk away from that car lot.

Put you together is car speak for I can screw you out of more money than anybody else.

LOL! JJ you are describing the guy we bought the Jetta from. I did not like him at ALL! I wanted to run from that sale....... but we did buy the car and we did get a good price and it has been excellent. I found out later that the lot we bought it from was well known to the specialized dealerships for selling inferior vehicles. The VW dealer I take my car to for service has been impressed with my car and have been pretty shocked that I have not had issues with it. Knowing what I know now about that dealership I would never return there. To get us the lowest possible loan they sent out loan requests to MULTIPLE agencies. We were getting notices for months about pre-approvals. Our CU had a pretty good deal that we should have gone with instead.

car loans is another way of making profit for the dealership. All that shopping around they did with your credit can harm your credit rating also, but not permanently.

I like my Credit union and would rather pay a little extra to know where it is going and what it is doing.

I know my credit union is using the money to not charge me for cash from an atm or for debit card purchases. They do cool stuff like call me before they bounce a check.

Chickens this is a chicken thread

Turkeys??? I remember my daughter playing soccer in Milwaukee near water... Its geese and the number of them that really make poop!!! That was the most horrendous soccer game ever surprised they allowed us to play considering all the slipping and sliding in the salmonella laiden field
