Let me know if you find silkies. If not you can hatch out some eggs from here. Or I can give you a pair to hatch your own.

Cind, I painted my nails so the purple one is now camouflaged.

Good luck Cuties! I hope you are successful in finding another silkie!

CC, so sorry you lost your surrogate roo.

Anyone going to the Fondy swap on the 26th?

Not much happening here today....... just being lazy. We are going to head over and visit the ducks later.

Oh CC, so sorry :hugs I mean it. How old was he? Any ideas about the monster that attacked him?

About stitching up injuries, I think I may have mentioned this before that I use liquid stitch. You can get it at most pet supply livestock, etc. And I think it's even available in the Wal-Mart pharmacy now. It's the same stuff they use in ERs. I've even used it on myself. I'm too old to worry about a scar :) If you're in a hurry, super glue will work in a pinch. I just make sure I always have a fresh tube of liquid stitch on hand tho. I have to with a clutzy pup, a nosy kitty and a "mister fix-it" hubby before we even get to trouble chooks can get into. We also are miles from any kind of an ER. A few years ago we had my daughter and family up for thanksgiving. While washing dishes I had a glass bowl explode in my hands. Laid my hand wide open. Grabbed the liquid stitch, then a rubber glove and went right back to work. Holiday saved and no hours wasted traveling back and forth to an ER. With animals, no expensive vet bills. even more important to me, I believe it's a lot less traumatic to the animal than traditional stitching, people too!!! :D

Lazy day here too. Are yo ready for some football? Oh and I have to dig up my herb plants during half-time. Weather going to puke after today. It's ok, we're ready for hibernating. Hubby even made me a feed vault to go on the back porch yesterday right next to the door so now I don't have to trudge feed dishes back and forth thru the snow to mix warm mash this winter . Such a sweet hubby :hugs

If he is just missing feathers, I wouldn't worry about it. They will grow back. How old is he? Is he molting? If so, the feathers will grow back in real soon. Just keep an eye on him to make sure noone stasrts pecking at his skin & makes him bleed. You could give him a light coat of Blu-kote on the naked spot as a deterrant if you want. Brrr, he's gonna be a little chilly at night.

Mel, we have a kraut cutter & a crock just like yours. Looks yummy! And as for the whack job, I vote for the latter.

Sad note tonight. We had a pred attack last night. The bass turd got my Jack.

He was my very first chicken. And the best surrogate mommy. He raised almost all of my chicks I've had. Sorry to be a bummer. Sweet dreams, all.

Oh, sorry about the attack, CC!!

So now that I am on the laptop...
The cutter..

And the Kraut!

I know it does not look like much, but there are 6 heads of cabbage in that crock. :)

Oldest DD and the BF made cookies tonight. I gave them a recipe and they decided to go rogue.... and too much flour has been added. They still taste good though!

I have a couple of these cutters at the store - one of them a smaller version. My MIL used to make kraut - YUM!

Good luck finding a nice silkie!

Eric Clapton & Pearl (IB roo and bottom-of-the-pecking-order hen) have been picked on and lost all but one or two tail feathers. I'm surprised at how quickly they're getting them back in.
